I was really excited to go back to Wildland as our first two experiences (breakfast and a dinner) were great. No issue with service as Bella was great! We ordered charred octupus as our choice on the fish plate but was surprised that it was cold AND marinated cut up in pieces. I think some explanation is due when ordering that specifically. Wasn't BAD...just unexpected and not what we were wanting. The Wood Fired Cabbage is a unique dish packed full of flavor, but wasn't cooked enough this time around so it was a little beyond al dente.Marguerita pizza was good, and our friend liked her Malfadine pasta dish just fine. For me, there was an underlying flavor that didn's sit well. I don't know what it was, but it tasted like soap to me (and it wasn't cilantro...yes, I have that thing where I can't eat it). The Casercce pasta dish I ordered was ok. The fennel sausage was spicy and I liked the kick but there was (an overly?) strong lemon tone that kind of took away from my overall liking. I'll go back for breakfast as you can't beat their coffees, baked goods (baguettes are delicious), and don't get me started on that fluffy orange juice. Anyone remember Orange Julius? So good!

This was my third visit to Wildland in Carlsbad, and unfortunately, it was a letdown. While the concept of using local, fresh ingredients remains appealing, the execution this time fell short. Several dishes were either overcooked or noticeably lacking in flavor, which was surprising given the restaurant’s usually solid reputation. To add to the disappointment, the wine list was underwhelming — limited in selection and in need of a serious refresh. Overall, this experience didn’t live up to expectations and made me reconsider returning.

The outside experience for dinner was awful. No shade in blazing sun, tables on rocky ground, servers seemed hot and bothered. We ended up having one drink (which was $18 each) and left due to the unfavorable conditions.

Outstanding cuisine and presentation. Friendly staff. Fun scene. I think they could be more thoughtful about providing serving utensils, especially since most items are shared. Guests shouldn’t have to use the forks they eat with to serve the dishes served. Coffee service after the meal was a similar experience. After we asked, we were given soup spoons for that. Even stirrers would have been fine. The Cabbage and breads were amazing. The fish (Grouper) cooked to perfection

We dined on a Wednesday evening at 7 PM and ate inside. We had heard good things about this restaurant and were eager to make our order. However, the seating was uncomfortable, and it was very loud inside making it difficult to have any conversation. I was planning to have a glass of red wine, but the three choices were such that I decided not to. We had spaghetti with clams and the Land pizza. Both dishes were bland and disappointing. Customer service was good!

Food was absolutely fantastic, our server Jefferson did the best job explaining the dishes to us. His recommendations made our dinner experience top notch.
