What could have been a delightful dinner with great food became a terrible experience. 1. The food was fantastic, accompanied by excellent service. 2. The acoustics of Bergamo are terrible. High ceilings and hard surfaces make the environment already loud. 3. A large group of patrons in the back of the dining room was so loud and obnoxious that it was almost impossible for us to converse during our dinner. And our table was at the front of the restaurant! One of our party members approached that group, asking them to try to lower their drunken boisterousness. No success, they became even louder. 4. We asked the hostess, wife of Chef Gian, to speak with the loud group, and she graciously did so. Of course, they ignored her. Rude, drunk, and boisterous behavior should never be tolerated, and those sorts of people should be asked to leave. Tolerating that sort of behavior only results in alienating all the other people in the restaurant. This was the kind of dining experience that makes us reluctant to return to what is otherwise a great restaurant. The owners should also consider installing sound baffling panels to mitigate the horrible acoustics.

The food is always great. Brought some friends with us. We’ve never been to Greenville before and now they wanna move here.

This time wasn’t good at all, very loud people felt like we are in a bar, not in a nice classy restaurant. Service was very slow on Tuesday. Short on staff. Food was below the expectations, I guess the Tuesday cook was a sub. Of-course the main chef (chef Ferro) does not cook himself to people, only to friends…. It is fine with me as long he trained proper chefs rather than have any cook. Used to be my favorite Italian restaurant in Greenville, I am dropping it from my list. It was disappointment to say the least. Inconsistency kills any establishment.

We had a wonderful evening from start to finish. Our waiter Jackson was very helpful in selecting our wine even letting us sample a few before deciding. The food was amazing- both pasta and meat were impressive. Everything was fresh and the taste combinations were wonderful. We, of course had to have dessert and both selections did not disappoint with the cheesecake getting the highest ratings. We would definitely recommend Ristorante Bergamo if you want to enjoy a special dinner of first rate food in a quaint setting.

Always a great place to eat. Small and intimate with only about 12 tables. We go at least 2 times a year for birthdays or our anniversary!
