Paul Friedman is a Master Chef with over 40 years of experience in the restaurant industry,having owned and operated over 50 successful restaurant concepts in South Africa, Germany, and the U.S. Paul began his career as a manager and worked his way up to franchise owner, then Director of Operations.
He opened Paul's Pizza Shops - a nationally recognized pizza concept in Northwest Houston, Texas in 1994.
Paul later developed a new concept, becoming the Executive Chef, CEO and partner at Peli Peli - a nationally recognized South African Fusion Restaurant which opened in 2009 in Houston, Texas. Having retired from Pelipeli in 2018 he has returned to his original location at Vintage Park with his latest concept The Chefs Table.
Chef Friedman says this is by far my best creation yet and I hope to leave a legacy here for my children and grandchildren to be proud of.

    I chose to go to this restaurant for my birthday because I always left feeling good. This time it was my birthday. It was bittersweet because the person celebrating me had been before when there were 3 of us. One of the 3 is now in heaven. The chef passed our table more than 3 times and NEVER spoke to us. He did speak to his Caucasian guests. I patronized this restaurant when it was Peli Peli. He was always very friendly. Yesterday was different!

    What a delightful dining experience! From the ability to make a reservation, to the service, to the food, everything was 5 stars. We were warmly greeted and promptly shown our table. Everyone who provided our experience was a friendly and skilled hospitality professional. There are just too many accolades to list. Thank you! The food was perfect in presentation, creativity, and flavor. Our servers had an impressive depth of knowledge of the menu offerings that allowed us to be both adventurous and confident in our selections. All four of us were very happy with our meals. Notable was the portion size. Perfection! I believe one of the often overlooked characteristics of a chef-created meal is appropriate portion size. It is the hallmark of fine dining. It showcases the food, the flavors, and the artistry. Anyone can serve an over-sized, over-sauced, eat-for-a-week platter of food. A culinary creation is one that is both simple and complex which is what we received in all of the dishes we ordered. Another standout was the ambience. The atmosphere is upscale yet comfortable. Tables are respectfully spaced allowing for a personal dining experience. 3 of the 4 of us have dined at The Chef’s Table previously. All of us look forward to returning for another delicious meal. Whether a frequent or first time diner, you are in for a treat at The Chef’s Table.

    We went to celebrate Fathers Day. Enjoyed the stuffed mushrooms immensely. I ordered the Portuguese Beef Pendurada, my husband ordered the Beef Wellington. We order the five cheese whipped mash potatoes and sautéed baby spinach as sides. The Wellington was delicious and hot. Sadly, my meat and both sides were room temperature. When the waitress checked on us, (she was friendly but busy with multiple tables) I told her that the flavor was nice but everything was served room temperature…that the potatoes were gelatinous. We were very disappointed in the main meal. We did have the sticky toffee pudding for dessert and it was tasty and perfect temp. For the money we spent, and our meal with its issues, I don’t think we will be returning anytime soon.

    Never had a bad experience at this place. However, the last visit was exceptional. The manager stopped by to check on us twice. Service was top notch.

    We visited The Chef's Table to celebrate my wife's birthday, and it was an amazing experience. The service, the atmosphere, the drinks, but specifically the food was out of this world! Such a great experience!
