The award-winning Skillet Diner opened in the Capitol Hill neighborhood of Seattle in 2011. We’re a neighborhood joint doing our best to make the place feel relaxed, service attentive and easy; the food approachable yet focused. We use fresh, locally-sourced ingredients. The style of food is similar to what we’re known for on the airstream …the difference? we have so much more room! Items range from our fennel-crusted fried chicken and waffle, to our burger with bacon jam, arugula, bleu cheese on a Macrina sodo bun with beautiful hand cut fries, to our legendary kale Caesar salad.

Seating policy: We require your whole party be present to be sat. We will hold your table for up to 10 minutes.

Waited 15 minutes for someone to come take a drink order. The food was terrible. Cinnamon bun had to be more than a day old. It was even hard to swallow. Many staff milling around on phones and chatting with each other, even to the point of impeding patrons walking. One breakfast dish, pastry, coffee and drink = $75. I can't believe this restaurant has several locations.

I read so many good reviews that I took my mom here for Mother’s Day. Everyone who works there is great. And while the food tasted good, the portions of the mains could be better. My mom orders blackened salmon and got a tiny piece of fish on a huge pile of potatoes and brussel sprouts. TINY!! They were also out of the main sauce that accompanies the salmon. I understand that happens but they should have told her prior to ordering. I think if you go for breakfast, that’s your best best. Cocktail were fine but could be better as well.

We sat outside along 14th on a weekend. Seattle street activity with police and fire sirens and car honking the only distraction for our rural living table mates. Otherwise, we had a fantastic time, ate great food, and received friendly service.

Food was mediocre at best. Another example of a Seattle restaurant being listed as one of the top 10 to try and finding the quality of food ambiance to be way off. For the price the food was poor quality at best.

I think they were having a bad morning. I got there right before they opened at 7am. It was fine at first, but they had some sort of alarm going off throughout our breakfast, with flashing lights. At times it was so loud we couldn't speak. Staff offered no explanation or apology. The menu was smaller than we expected. Kind of strange offerings. And when we got our food, we both were disappointed. Especially for the price! Not much flavor. Not well cooked or presented. Then when we tried to pay, their Toast system was down. They couldn't take cash. It made me really uncomfortable that they wrote down ALL my credit card information on a slip of paper and kept it. So now I'll be checking for fraud on my card for a while. I might try going back just to see if things have improved.

It was a good time. Enjoyed the mimosa pitchers, the donut holes are to die for. The fried chicken thigh for the sandwich was a different experience from the normal chicken breast that I’ve had at other places. Overall though I enjoyed it as well as the company I had with me.

I'd been dreaming about the Cobb salad since I had it a couple of years ago. Slightly disappointed. The egg wasn't soft boiled and it was cold and the chicken was cut in too small pieces and also cold.

Michael, our server, was awesome! Funny, attentive, and demonstrated excellent customer service. Also, the host who greeted us at the door was amazing as well! She was so patient and professional despite having to deal with some very difficult customers who arrived just ahead of our party. Thanks to the entire Skillet staff for a wonderful birthday brunch!!

Great place to go for brunch ! Had many items but my favorite is the breakfast burrito with avocado. Tried the fried chicken breakfast burrito, and it was a tad disappointing. The Mexican chips, egg, and avocado dish was super yummy . Bloody Mary’s and mimosas also very yummy !

I thought it had a great atmosphere. Very “breakfast” food vibes. The decor choice is interesting. The food was good-however it wasn’t necessarily “great”. To me personally, it was kind of average. Small portion. At least the meal that I received. The hosts are very friends though!

Great food, they were out of waffles which is odd as that is one of their dishes and for a Saturday at 5:00, the dinner rush was just starting. But, what we did order was awesome(Nashville Hot Sammie)! Also, they need more staff. Waited like 15-20 mins for the server so we could order a final drink before we headed out. This is not on the server, they just needed more help. I wish I could rate higher because food was very good!

It pains me to write this as Skillet used to be my go to brunch spot. However, in the past few visits the food quality has declined and the dishes are no longer as tasty as they once were. This particular visit sealed Skillet’s fate with me. We ordered griddle cakes and waited an hour and ten minutes to receive sub-par pancakes. Our server was lovely and offered us fries as we waited. Even our free fries were served cold. The server was gracious enough to comp our meal and drinks. I appreciate the effort, but I want to circle back to the quality of food. I have been a loyal patron since 2019, when I discovered the Skillet Griddle cakes. They were a perfect consistency with crispy edges. They were also served with lemon zest butter and a large serving of fruit compote. The griddle cakes were so yummy that I would order them to go during the pandemic, and when in person dining resumed, I would make reservations well in advance to ensure I would have a table on the weekends. Fast forward to late 2022/early 2023: the griddle cakes are not distinctive, bland, no more crispy edges, and I was only served 3 strawberries with my 4 griddle cakes. The lemon zest butter has also gone away. My dining companion ordered the little rob and what he was served was laughable. In the “old days” he would complain it was too much food. This time around, it was sloppy, and much smaller. I am a brunch fan, and I once rated skillet’s griddle cake as the top pancake in washington. But after the past couple of visits, it has fallen off the charts. I am sad and disappointed that skillet will no longer be in my weekend rotation.

I've had this place on my go-to list for quite awhile. We were seated quickly. Our server rattled off a few things while looking out the window. He seemed really busy. The food was just ok. A little bland. Nothing really stood out. Overpriced for the experience, I'd say.

We made a reservation for brunch just in case of the wait. Parking could be tricky but we were lucky to find a street parking spot quickly. After checking in, the staff sat us right away. It's an open kitchen with old fashioned diner style. Based on the popular pictures on Yelp, we decided to order The little rob with poutine fries, fried chicken and waffle, chilaquiles and coffees. The server was upbeat and professional. The food was delicious and comforting. Great experience and we really enjoyed it. It will be our go to place in the future.
