The view was fantastic. The food presentation was very superb, and everything was "HOT" when it arrived. The food was delicious, and the pricing was good. The Lobster Bisque was the best I've ever had. The lamb chops were tender and meaty and seasoned to perfection. The Mud Pie was to die for!!! Thank you for helping up celebrate our 36th Anniversary! We had a lovely time.

We've enjoyed Chart House for special occasions and the view over many years. Food and service have not kept up with local competition, however, in terms of quality. There is a lot of effort put forth and they seem to be trying hard, but the flavors somehow fall short. They were also sold out of two sides we requested and we were there at 6:30. Also the birthday which we mentioned in our reservation was not acknowledged at all.

I said it was my wife’s birthday, we request window seating, the host said she couldn’t sit us where she originally planned so sat us somewhere else no where near a window. They did nothing for my wife’s bday. Food was cold, the service took almost 1 hour from the time we ordered until we got our food.

Had originally made a reservation for 7:00 for my anniversary with my wife. We arrive roughly around 6:55 and proceed to have to wait up to half an hour just to be seated. We waited roughly another 10 minutes for our drinks to arrive. After our drinks arrived our service seemed to get better but overall it left a bad taste in our mouth having to wait that long just to be seated for our own reservation. Especially when we noticed that guests who arrived later than us seem to be seated before us and were served before us as well. I would not recommend.

Had not visited the restaurant for over a year. Portions smaller. Plate consisted of a small lump of mashed potatoes and protein. Baked potato $8.00 upcharge and they ran out. Prime rib was medium rare cold when delivered. Manager returned with same cut after it had been boiled in the au jus to well done. Dining at the Chart House used to be a wonderful experience. Not sure if I will go back.

Food was good! Our fish was cooked to perfection! My dinner plate was not wiped and had all splash marks on it my soup was good but same drips around the edge. We waited a full hour for our main entrée, no one came and asked if we’d like another drink or a complementary appetizer. I doubt we be back to this particular Chart House!

Terrible service!! We were a small party just three of us. It took forever before we saw our server. Once we did it took forever to get both our drink and dinner order. When my dinner arrived, I had ordered a medium rare steak, but it was medium well. It took over 30 minutes before my meal came back, so the rest of the group was done eating by the time I received my dinner. They did offer me an appetizer while I was waiting, but I knew I could eat an appetizer and my meal. They did comp us a cheese cake, but again I can't eat that much so someone else in my party ate it. I believe they should of just comped my meal, not all the extra's. I will never go back; there are just too many great restaurants in Dana Point to receive that kind of service at that price point.

The Chart House is a great and iconic restaurant that will survive for generations, I'm sure. It is popular and, as far as location location location? ... well. 😁 The 70s vibe inside, sitting in a cliff, the beast spiral staircase going down under the Earth, is super cool. The valéts, somehow, kick a$$!! It gets jammed up but they're running and keep pretty well organized, from what I could see As far as service... well, there isn't enough. They're too busy for their number of trained personnel available, in my humble opinion, but, who am I? Just another opinion. It was amover a 3hr tour, I mean dinner, from 540pm to nearly 9pm. And there was almost always an empty table. The staff was running circles and training me staff... and very kind, saying to let them know if we need anything, but, in reality, they could only bring our what the kitchen provided and we barely had 1 drink drink and just water, so, no, we weren't there to party at the bar. We were at a dinner table the entire time. All in all. Great people. Great food. Just need more help. The price is there for the help so maybe they just can't find the help? I dunno. But hey, the Prime Rib and Mahi Mahi were delicious. And they have a gluten free menu. And we love that they have Happy Anniversary and Happy Birthday menus, paying attention to our purpose of visit.

The view was great. We asked for a daiquiri first off and we were informed that their blender was broken. Okay we ordered another drink. Service was really slow. Before we ordered dinner we asked if they had mud pie for dessert. Our waiter went to check and said yes they had mudpie. We proceeded to have dinner then waited a LONG time for dessert. Someone other than our waiter came with two servings of cheesecake and said they were out of mudpie. We left very unsatisfied with this restaurant .
