Located at 40 Brattle Street in Harvard Square, Alden & Harlow serves thoughtfully sourced, honest American food in a subterranean, modern and comfortable space. Replicating the style of cooking he does for family and friends in his home kitchen, Chef Michael Scelfo prepares humble, unpretentious food that honors tradition of place in its quality. It's how he connects with anyone who joins them at their table.

While reservations are strongly suggested, we also save a portion of the dining room and bar for walk-ins in the event that your request cannot be accommodated. So please, come on in!

The wait staff was great at describing menu items with asked and accommodating with small substitutions (switching in sprite for the tonic water in a mocktail, putting the spicy sauce on the side). My teenager loved the roasted carrots and the broccoli dishes! I think the chef/owner even checked in on us after the first dish was brought out.

Our water glasses were topped off MANY times, the uniqueness of their meal timing was clearly articulated, and upon noticing us using our phone flashlights to read the menus, our server unprompted brought this vehicle cool battery-powered table lamp. Much appreciated!

                                                            We loved the shared dishes concept, where we could experience a wide range of flavors. Our group of four made selections that we struggled to choose which was best- all were amazing! We’ll be back!!

                                                            Loved the vibe. Excellent creative craft cocktails. The halumi was outstanding! The grilled broccoli was very good, as was the salmon. The salmon and meat dishes were pricey for tapas. Service was excellent. We’d go back!
