We had another fantastic meal at Convivio. It’s hard to describe how perfect this restaurant is - it reminds us of a classic upscale restaurant in a small town in Italy. The owner, Giuseppe, is from Umbria and a lot of the recipes are from the village where he grew up. Guiseppe is a great chef, eager to share, and is a lot of fun to chat with. Tonight, my wife and I started with an asparagus and white truffle pizza that was out of this world. We also shared a burrata appetizer which was great. For the main course, I had the porchetta, which was so good. My wife had the ravioli with spinach and ricotta, which she also said was delicious. We decided to let Giuseppe serve our wines with dinner, which was good, as the restaurant stocks a lot of Italian wines from regions that we did not much about but were all delicious. Convivio is the one restaurant we recommend to friends and the one that we always make a point to take out-of-town guests. It’s just a special place …

Delicious authentic Italian food hidden in downtown Durham! The owner Giuseppe had the best wine recommendations, he even imports wine and olive oil from his farm in Umbria. The burrata was fresh and the spring truffles with hand cut noodles were to die for! The spinach and ricotta stuffed ravioli in a sage butter sauce was so light but decadent. The meal was perfectly finished with an espresso, a house made dessert, and a scoop of gelato. We will have to sit in the outdoor patio next time - can’t wait to go back!
