   Excellent service and experience for me and my guest. The food was good and the staff was attentive to our needs. We had a good time. We would highly recommend if you're looking for this type of restaurant in SF. The location is also good, very walkable.

   Every dish was even better than we thought it was going to be. Don't skip the deviled eggs, burrata & beets, and pork chop. Our server was really fun and great, and also made our anniversary very special!

   Server charged me for drinks I returned and was told she would remove (there were two drinks I didn’t like). Plus the restaurant removed my favorite cocktail off the menu, come to find out. The Cavelier used to be one of my favorite restaurants in SF, but sadly I don’t think I’ll be returning. I’ve dropped all expectations at most establishments due to how the service industry has been, but wasn’t expecting that at Cavelier.

   The cocktails were great. However the food was okay. Besides the brussel sprouts chips I thought the food was marginal. The house salad was odd with a strong blue cheese tasting cheese admist some old romaine salad greens. The fish and chips were terrible. Using a fish other than cod made the fish not stick to the fried layer of flour, etc. The bread pudding desert was basic, tasted like it was pre done elsewhere and nothing special about it. It was my 55th birthday and had high hopes for Cavalier but unfortunately it did not do it for me. We will not be back.

   Still great food at The Cavalier, nice ambience. I only wish it was still open for brunch or breakfast, as it used to be a regular go-to for those times of day too.

    He wanted a burger & fried but I wanted a choice of entrees. The Cavalier was the perfect choice. The Marlow burger can’t be beat and the beef fat fried are fabulous. The pastry in my mushroom tart was flakey & the mushrooms flavorful. We love the ambiance, an upscale London pub. Triple & port were a perfect end to a delightful meal.

    The food was delicious! The ambiance was fun and classic. The service is where they can improve. The service we did get was great, but we would go really long periods without being checked on. We wanted another round of drinks and other items for our food but weren’t able to get anyone’s attention for long periods of time so we never got some sides or drinks. Otherwise we enjoyed our experience!

    Our server Paula was great! I was disappointed they don't have the Pimms Cup cocktail anymore and I chose a nice Grüner Veltliner instead. My companion was very happy with Fuller's ESB (beer) - I hope they keep it on the menu forever. We had the onion rings to start and the Marlowe burger and steak frites. Everything delicious, especially the horseradish aioli it came with. Will definitely return!

    We enjoyed our food very much! The plaid wall paper is pretty cool too! The menu was small, but good. The Brussel chips were really good - lemon flavored is not something I’ve experienced and I wasn’t mad about it! The deviled eggs and onion rings were also very good starters. We had Steak Frites that were a generous portion of mean and fries. Our older kids had the burger and fish and chips. The malt sauce on the fish and chips was so good. Overall a bit spendy, buy we are not from San Fran, and there was a bit of sticker shock on prices in general.

    Very nice British inspired restaurant. Fish and Chips were excellent as was the Lobster Bisque and the Steak Tartare. Service was very good and paced well, not rushed at all. They have some British beers on tap as well which was nice. Great place to go before catching a show or concert at the Golden Gate Theatre. We will definitely go back.

    LOVED it. Amazing fish & Chips (with aPEA SHOOT SALAD to DIE for). Yummy octopus. Great cocktails, EXCELLENT SERVICE. Upscale, with KILLER TUNES (stones, temptations) playing. I WILL BE BACK!!

    Very pleasant ambiance. High ceilings, well spaced tables, clubby decor and subdued and pleasant lighting. Short and straight forward but non exciting menu. Steak, Burger, Half chicken etc..Excellent warm service. Good short wine list. Overall had a very pleasant evening not for gastronomic types but just a pleasant and well run place with good atmosphere.

    We went here before an event on market st. Great location for this. We sat in the bar area. It was quiet and the service was excellent. Food came out in a timely by not rushed manner. We had drinks & Sunchoke appetizer. We shared the beet salad & salmon. All Delicious.

    So happy to have found this place. We keep going back before every show we see at the Golden gate. Everyone is so friendly, and the wait staff are super attentive and able to get us out in time to walk over to the show. The food is delicious and we keep trying new things.     We have green here several times and enjoy the ambiance , great service and usually love the food. This time, the food was a bit disappointing . Deviled eggs great, onion rings has little flavor and dipping sauce didn’t do anything to enhance-the fish and chips were just ok- nothing special. The burger was good, and the salmon was great but served with several prawns that seemed to be an after thought and unnecessary really. the crab bisque was almost cool ( supposed to be a HOT soup) and just ok in terms of flavor. It came with two small slivers of crab topped toast which were very greasy- I would have rather had that crab dolloped in the middle of the soup-the bread pudding was good for desert.

    My date and I were set to see the Mean Girls theater play that night, and we always try a new restaurant when we go out to the city. The Cavalier has a beautiful interior; beautiful sketchings, antiques, and other trinkets fill the walls and shelves. The staff there was fantastic, and we never wanted for anything. Both the Bramble and Papa Doble cocktails were delicious; we had two rounds. The crispy sunchokes starter, I’ll say two things: 1. The sunchokes themselves were seasoned and cooked perfectly 2. The olive chimchurri and crème fraiche dipping sauce was off-putting, with its creamy yet deeply smoky flavors. My companion had the salmon, and I had the fish and chips. She loved everything as a part of her meal. The fish and chips, plus the aioli it was paired with, were delicious. It’s probably just my tastes, but the minted peas had an aggressive taste that I couldn’t take too many bites of. We didn’t have time for dessert, so we had a second round of cocktails and headed to the theater. Upscale SF restaurant equals upscale prices, but you know where you’re going if you’re reading this. Thanks for the nice dinner, Cavalier.

    My partner and I visited The Cavalier for Valentines Day. The restaurant had reservations offering their prix fixe menu, which is what I ended up booking for us. We arrived about 20 minutes before our reservation at 8pm and waited nearly 10 minutes behind another couple that was being helped at the host stand. It took a while for the host to acknowledge us and notice that a line was now forming in their quite small lobby area. Once we were finally at the host stand, the gentleman let us know that our table would be ready closer to 8pm and suggested that we grab drinks at the bar, which we did. The bartender was quite friendly when she finally came to take our drink orders. She was prepping garnishes pretty much in front of us and we were a bit confused by the wait. Due to the wait at the bar, we had to down our drinks to check in (again) at the host stand, where the gentleman asked for my name (again). The rest of our dinner was pretty good other than my partner’s glass being taken off the table, despite us ordering a bottle of champagne. The server and food really saved this place. The ambiance wasn’t as romantic as you would think: tables really close to each other, loud music, loud chatter, potentially over staffed. We’re not sure if we’d come back, but definitely recommend for a loud, pretty casual spot for dinner and drinks.

    Great options for everyone. The vegan Cauliflower Steak was amazing. I’m writing this review several weeks after eating there and I still think about it. Every one in my party enjoyed it and the service was very friendly and knowledgeable - I’ll definitely be back.

    My wife and I were visiting San Francisco for our wedding anniversary and made last-minute reservations here. We had a great experience. Molly was our server and did a really good job, as did everyone else. The food was really, really good. So were the drinks. We will definitely return!
