The Southern Pecan is a casual restaurant celebrating the Gulf Coast cuisine that the owner, Monte Smith, grew up with. Our relaxed ambiance is created by artwork and music that pours blues and jazz into your visit. We have soul food that we can all relate to such as chicken and dumplings, macaroni and cheese, poboys, and tasty fried shrimp, oysters, and catfish. Opening on October 5th, we're ready to give you high level service, and dishes that are too good to be true.     First time in Charlotte and came to this restaurant after reading multiple reviews online recommending it. It didn’t disappoint. We ordered the baked oysters, gumbo, famous catfish and the shrimp and grits. Everything was great! Service was very kind and attentive. Our server also shared they have a great brunch on the weekends. If we ever come back to Charlotte, we will definitely come back. I highly recommend this place.

    I visited the restaurant twice earlier this year. I ordered the flounder both times in the past, and I really enjoyed it. I visited the restaurant on May 11th and ordered the same fish, but it was not enjoyable. It was rubbery and under seasoned. I did not enjoy the food on this 3rd visit and that was disappointing.
