Oyamel is one of our favorites! The guacamole is a definite must: so fresh and so flavorful. Every time we've dined here, the food has been outstanding. If you like margaritas, try the Oyamel salt air version - a foamy, flavorful take on this drink. This time, our choices included the enchiladas verdes and an assortment of tacos along with a side of refried black beans. All delicious! For dessert, try to coffee ice cream that comes with caramel sauce, caramelized bananas, and lime wedges. If you are attending a show at the Shakespeare Theater Company, Oyamel is a very short walk to either of those theaters.

Looking for some of the tastiest Mexican food in DC? Chef Foschi and his team knock it out of the park consistently by combining authentic, bold flavors for his incredibly prepared dishes. Sure, it can be a bit noisy but rest assured, your meal (and salt air margarita’s) will be remembered and you’ll leave happy and full. Oyamel, see you soon!

I was running late to my res. I texted the restaurant via open table twice and directly once. Arrived 15 min late due to traffic in DC. They did not hold my table and made me sit at the bar at the first seat next to the door. Food - guacamole and ceviche were great. The rest of the food was not great. Expected more from a Jose Andreas place, especially because China Chilcano is so good! Got 2 mezcal drinks. Just ok. Would not return. Lots of other good Mexican options in the area.

Service incredibly slow but professional and friendly. WAY TOO LOUD..... Food is good but its not enjoyable when you cant carry on a conversation AT ALL.

The noise level was VERY LOUD! We could not hear ourselves talking amongst ourselves! The food was not brought out together. One meal was brought out, then the other six meals after she had finished her meal!! The food and drinks were mediocre! We won't return!

Great restaurant! Will be back! I had the green tamale and it was delicious. We had guacamole for the table and I had to fight to get any! We shared the upside down flan cake and the coffee flavored ice cream/pudding dessert and they were both amazing.

Chef Jose Andres is an international treasure of a Human. Oyamel is very good! The food and cocktails are excellent but the room feels like it’s in need of some updates.

The food is hit and miss. The camarones de mojo and the arrachera were very good, especially the shrimp. The combination of flavors worked very well together in both. The arroz de primavera was not good. Not only was it a weird mix of seemingly canned veggies with rice, it was bland, which is a cardinal sin in and of itself. Additionally, even as someone who loves a good margarita, 16 dollars for a small margarita is way too expensive. The cafe de olla was a fantastic way to wrap up the meal.
