Restauranteur Shawn Virene put the POP into Houston with his wildly successful a’Bouzy. This champagne-fueled spot located in the tony River Oaks neighborhood of town attracts a stylish crowd all day. The bar is always bustling and the patio echoes with the cry – “a Bouzy!” every time a bottle is sabered tableside. In fact, most tables will have multiple wine buckets close by, keeping the bubbly cool. The fresh, ripe American menu features seasonal seafood, salads, small-shareable plates, large raw bar and prime meats. The wine list curated by Virene, is both the best-priced on bubbly and wines in the city. The interiors have a sophisticated rustic vibe with exposed brick, reclaimed woods and a color palate of creams and blues. The effervescent appeal of bubbles is reflected in a light installation that mimics bubbles floating overhead. The spacious patio is a magnet for the stylish clientele that enjoy the year-round garden. The best thing is Champagne and wine is at or below retail

    Was in town for a girls trip and this spot was recommend by a local friend. Our group of four had a reservation that we arrived on time for, but when we arrived we were told there would be a25-30 minute wait because folks who had finished eating were still hanging on to tables. It was a Sunday, Beyoncé was in town, and it was Pride weekend. I would have expected to see a notice saying that tables are for 2 hours only or the restaurant should have limited reservations. In any case, the food was okay, but priced a bit high. We did think the popcorn appetizer was a nice touch. Our server was lovely as were the other wait staff we interacted with but front of house staff managing seating could be friendlier and more attentive.

    There are so many good things to try but I almost always go for the mussels and fries. The mussels were very small but good, fires in with the mussels were yummy. The crab claws were disappointing because they tasted pretty fishy, maybe not so fresh?

    Overall, the food was decent, but the service left room for improvement. There were a few mishaps during our visit. Someone at our table ordered a French 75 cocktail, but it was mistakenly brought as a serving for three people. I also requested hot sauce, but it never arrived. We found a hair in one of our food dishes, which was very off-putting. The dish was remade. Additionally, the waitress accidentally spilled water, and nothing was said about it or offered to help clean it up. While the meal itself was enjoyable enough, the service issues affected the overall experience.

    The food was just ok. The deviled eggs left much to be desired. The salads had way too much dressing. Our server lost focus and we kept having to track her down.

    Great service. Carlos was very attentive and knowledgeable. Food is always flavorful. Presentation is A1. A little on pricey side, but overall a great experience. Recommended.

    We had a wonderful mid-afternoon bubbly and small bites. The service attention by Jose (behind the bar) was top-notch. Will look forward to a future return.

    Always a great experience. Great staff and great food selections along with wines etc. The staff are very friendly and knowledgeable of the entire menu.
