   This was our first visit to Maison. It was a highlight of our recent trip to Charleston. This is a charming neighborhood bistro, refreshingly away from the hordes of tourists downtown. We were impressed with the food menu, as well as the well-chosen wine list. There are some of the usual French standards, but also creative variations. Our favorites were a perfectly dressed green salad, the Monkfish “chop,” and the almond creme caramel. The wine list was of manageable length, but with enough variety to please any palate. We were particularly impressed by what was available by the glass. The crispy and fresh NV Palmer Champagne was well-worth the price; the Touraine Sauvignon Blanc a worthy alternative to better-known whites from Bordeaux or the Loire. But best of all was the Burgaud Morgan. Honestly one of the best glasses of wine we remember. Unusually rich and full-bodied for the Gamay grape, and an equally-good pairing with the fish and the steak we ordered. I wish we had a place like this at home. If so, we would eat out every night. I know the local regulars don’t want to hear this, but if you visit Charleston, do yourself a favor and take a short Uber ride up King Street to this place. We look forward to our next time there.

   We had two appetizers,the Pea Tart and the Escargot. Both were good. Entres were duck and Steak Frites. The duck was well cooked and the lentils were excellent. Drinks were fun. Would return with a new menu.

   This was a true dining experience from top to bottom! Our server Danielle couldn’t have been any better— from amazing recommendations based on her knowledge of the menu to her unparalleled service, Danielle was top notch. Throughout the meal, each dish was outstanding (particularly the clams, steak and frites) but for as good as they were, it was Danielle who set the ability for us not enjoy it as much as possible. We will definitely be returning! Quite the experience for us.

    The food was amazing! Every detail was thought out and showed up in the complexity and depth of flavors. Danielle (our server) was well versed in the menu and described each dish with impeccable knowledge. Highly recommend the monk fish (chef’s specialty) and the rabbit!!

    Had a fantastic birthday dinner last night as Maison. Tony was on point as our server, as usual (even with a broken hand!). We had the special salad with apples and blue cheese. I had the flounder main (the potato that came with that is my new favorite way to eat potatoes!), my husband had the chicken (seems to be everyone’s favorite) and my very picky daughter was happy with her steak frites. Fantastic bottle of wine. Courteous host and loved everyone chipping in to help. Can’t wait to go back for more great food and service!!

    I would highly recommend this a fun french bistro to any local charlestonians as well as those visiting. The staff was friendly and offered excellent suggestions from the main menu as well as the specials. The chef obviously is experienced as he creates amazinlg dishes which include seafood,steak And game. We loved the whole experience and the food was outstanding! We will return. Thank you!!!

    We had dinner at Maison last night and though the decor was beautiful the food was horrible. The waiter was very pleasant and accommodating and that is why I am giving two stars, if I could give zero stars I would but the service deserves betterThe mussels tasted very fishy and the "beard" of the mussel was not cleaned, the onion soup was sooooo salty that it tasted very packaged, finally the steak frites and the flounder were so old that after one taste you knew that these proteins have been sitting in the fridge for weeks! No wonder why they were not packed on a Thursday night unlike other places in town. Really a bad experience, which is too bad because the decor is spot on.

    Food was a bit uneven but generally very good. Salmon rilette was terrific. Onion tart was good with crust perhaps a bit thick/hard. The rabbit en croute was rich and flavorful but the pastry on top was less good as it arrived soggy on inside (perhaps it needed to be vented—exterior was gorgeous). Waitress advised getting pastry off immediately and we did but it was already soggy underneath. Chicken was excellent—perfectly cooked and well seasoned and veggies were on point. The chocolate mousse was a generous portion tho not convinced by pairing peanut brittle with it and the cherries on top. Glad we got the brittle on the side. Enjoyed a nice glass of banyuls with it. Service was good though there was a long delay between appetizers and main course without explanation. Corkage was $35–normal these days. Pricing was fair. While we enjoyed our meal, we were not as happy as we were with our visit to The Ordinary two days earlier. Overall a very good meal and experience but not special.

    Delightful meal for our first visit to Madison. Tony took great care of us and provided detailed descriptions of the menu. The Bucheron Tart was a great starter. The scallop schnitzel unique. The spiced duck confit was outstanding. The almond crème caramel was a refreshing finish. Tony also did a great job pairing wines with our meal. We look forward to our next visit!

    Loved this restaurant. Enthusiastic staff. Owner chef. Lovely craft cocktails. 2 of us had chicken recommended by server. It was excellent.2 ordered monk fish —delicious! Chocolate mousse dessert superb and probably big enough for 4 after appetizers and entrees. Would definitely eat here again.

    Terrific mussels as an appetizer. My husband loved the flounder and my steak frites was perfectly cooked and delicious. The lemony madeleines are a delicious dessert. The atmosphere and service are relaxed and unrushed. A gem of a restaurant!

    I can't say enough about Maison. From the beginning, our server helped us make some great decisions with our meals, and everything was delicious. The wine was amazing; the Salmon Rillette appetizer was superb; our Chicken Farci and Rabbit En Croute entrees were perfection; and we ended the meal with Madeleine cookies and a fantastic Chenin Blanc dessert wine. Please have a meal here. You won't regret it!

    This chic restaurant did not disappoint with wonderful cocktails and wine, salads, raclette, beautifully presented duck, artful stuffed chicken, and perfectly cooked steak. Service was very good. The only blemish on the evening was a grumpy hostess.

    The food was as good as any French brasserie I’ve been to in France, and the technique and execution of the dishes was nearly flawless (the chef worked at Per Se so you can see Kepler’s influence). The rabbit en croute was a standout of the night and perfectly seasoned. The wine list was well curated to the food. The service was warm and attentive. The only minor point was that the chocolate mousse was too stiff, but that’s splitting hairs. 10/10 I would dine here again and again if I could. Bravo chef!

    Maison exceeded all expectations!!! I had the leeks vinaigrette and the mussels. My boyfriend had the foie gras and rabbit en croute! Everything was spectacular. Our server was incredibly kind and informative. We were celebrating my boyfriend’s birthday and they welcomed us in with a toast which was nice.
