   We ate Mother’s Day brunch in a makeshift restaurant - in the hallway outside the conference rooms. For $75 a person?!? That’s crazy.

   The Mother’s Day brunch was advertised as a buffet with a significantly different experience. The meal was extremely limited, pre-fixe wasn’t outlined and it was essentially served in a hallway due to construction. Clearly not the Mother’s Day experience we were hoping.

   The W Hotel Austin is under major construction which was not noted on Open Table. Additionally Open Table promoted a Mother’s Day buffet when in fact it was a very limited pre fixed menu. The staff was very kind and the service was good. This issue is on Open Table but be advised that the hotel will not be a true “w” for a while.

   Great service - staff bent over backwards to get our food out in 15 minutes so we could make a show at 8

   This is a temporary setup while the W is undergoing renovations. They should not have put this on opentable. It should solely be available for hotel guests that have no other options. They just setup tables in a hallway! It was an absolutely mediocre experience. The W has an excellent reputation and this place misses the mark by far.

   When we made our reservation, I noted that the restaurant had moved to the second floor, but they failed to mention that it was a temporary location, and I did not expect to sit in a cavernous hallway close to event rooms on a much too-low banquet. Transparency is the key, and they should post a picture of it so diners can make an informed choice. While the service and staff were good and kind, the food was poor to mediocre. There were three of us, and two of us were served cold prime rib and cold mashed potatoes. Not just luke warm but cold. We asked the staff to warm it up, and they kindly brought us new plates. The warm food was still not good. As a local, I have chosen the W many, many times since it first opened, but this experience, especially on Christmas, was enough to keep me from going back, and the $400 for three meals and one glass of wine was a waste because the food was not good.

   Christmas dinner, 3 courses, $80 prix fixe menu. The seating area was a bit strange, it was like dining in a hallway next to the hotel's meeting rooms. The food was good but not memorable. Except for the company there was just nothing particularly memorable about the experience, and dinner for 3 came to $400.

   Temporary space due to construction but it was still very nice and comfy. Food was good and service was great!

   Overall, great experience and we’ll return. 3 stars for ambience because the hotel is under construction & 4 stars for value, it was a bit overpriced.
