   The tasting menu involved some of the best flavors of food I’ve ever had. The service was accommodating and incredible. I want to be fed by this group of people every meal of every day.

   Scratch is amazing. The place is renovated and the experience is even better than before. It is an intimate food experience in a warm and welcoming setting. The food is utterly fabulous. Go! Go! Go!

   A totally unique high-end experience unlike anything else in the valley. Only one menu option. Everything! And everything was delicious. 24 courses, two bites each. Every course was a delight. Each one was an art piece served in a different dish, cooked to perfection. I understand that there is no servers just chef’s that serve you. They know they’re excellent and you will too when you experience it. Expensive but treat yourself. You’re worth it. If you want to go easier on your wallet there is a new bar next door that I believe serves some dishes. They will definitely be Michelin rated so go before that happens so you can say you discovered it first.

   This place is trendy and innovative. It's cool to watch chefs work. Service is great for the most part. It can get a bit chilly depending on where you're seated. I think its a fun experience but a bit overpriced for what you get.

   To describe our visit to 'Scratch' as a meal would be a disservice. After all, a mere meal shouldn't cost in the neighborhood of $200 per person. It is much better described as an odyssey, which makes the cost much more palatable and the experience memorable. (Basic cost is $125 per person. Tip is added on top of that.) The first impression of Scratch is creative chaos, which is amplified by the fact their official entrance is under construction, so you enter through their sister establishment (Woodley Proper), next door. Our first dish was a shooter with some sort of baby mussel on a skewer with gingered something; lime dominated the liquid in the shooter; and at the bottom was a smooth concoction of uni and avocado. One was instructed to take 'all in one go', encouraging the uni-avocado along with the skewer. We were all amazed into silence. (This is noteworthy, because two of the people at the table are psycho-therapists - and very little will silence a shrink.) (Too many dishes to describe in the space allowed here ... but they were all great!) More important than anything written above, is that we were here to celebrate my wife's birthday. It required some persistence on my part, and accommodation on theirs to secure a booth, but we were successful. (Thank you, Judah and Gavin Humes!) Happily, flowers (ordered earlier in the day) were waiting for her at our table; she loved the food and we all left very happy. The amount of food, the richness of the food and the price make this an event place for us, but waistline and wallet allowing, this could be a regular place for you. Perhaps it doesn’t need to be said, but I’ll say it anyway: This place is great!
