From the OpenTable editors: Wife-and-husband team Michelle Karr-Ueoka and Wade Ueoka trained in MICHELIN-Starred kitchens from Napa to NYC before returning home to open what Eater calls one of the most essential restaurants in Honolulu. The airy, second-floor space has a big, bustling dining room for Hawaiian comforts like the signature mochi-crusted kampachi and wagyu beef sliders on housemade mochi buns. Save room for Karr-Ueoka's award-winning desserts, such as a gussied-up mango shave ice.

    MW Restaurant didn’t disappoint. We had the 5 course tasting menu and every dish was excellent. Service was excellent. The only negative was finding the valet parking. We had to call the restaurant as we were circling for directions. Instructions with reservations would be helpful. We would definitely dine here again when in Honolulu.

    The food was incredible – the mochi crusted Hawaiian kanpachi was perfectly cooked and bursting with flavor. Our server, Tyler was attentive and knowledgeable, making our dining experience truly memorable."     We started with the wagyu sliders. They are small, macaron size but amazing. Perfectly done. I could do two orders and call it dinner. I had the butterfish and my wife had the panko crusted Kampachi. Hard to tell which was better. Great service made the night .

    Enjoyed our dinner! Mochi crusted kampachi was excellent. My friend had the special which was a lobster roll. I mentioned to waiter that he should let customers know that the lobster roll had a strong wasabi flavoring which for me overwhelmed the lobster. Our desserts were excellent - the MW Candy bar cake and the lilikoi creme brulee.

    Food, service, and experience are always top-notch. Highly recommend the cold ramein salad special deliciously unexpected. We are from the east coast of the mainland and always make a point to eat at MW when we visit Oahu. Well, over 10 meals now. We can't wait to comeback.

    As always, an excellent meal and excellent service. We always choose MW for dining before Broadway in Hawaii, and the quality of food and service never disappoints. We scheduled for 5:45pm dining as our musical started at 7:30pm, and were a bit rushed at the end to finish dessert. Will move reservation for June up to 5:30pm
