   Filet tough; duck not very good and weird; salad bland — mainly iceberg lettuce, little blue cheese; server very nice. Quality of food has gone down since our last visit. Disappointing.

   Lovely atmosphere and kind server. Would have been nice to have a little time between our drinks and salads. The lunch menu seems a bit thin and the salad I got seemed pretty small for the cost.

   We told them we were celebrating our anniversary and they made sure the reservation was special! Our table was in the back corner which was very private. The service was outstanding and we were even gifted a free dessert for our anniversary. The food was incredible as well (highly recommend the filet). Probably the best steak I've ever had.

    We went for Sunday brunch/lunch. The menu had many diverse choices for everyone. The food was tasty. The serving sizes left you satisfied. The price was appropriate. The hostess was pleasant and the server was attentive. I can’t say more how much we were pleasantly surprised. I would definitely go back.

    I love Red Stag Grill because they have a traditional brunch. Their Omelettes are what you expect, no strange ingredients, as are the Egg Benedicts. Some restaurants like to experiment and change those items around. I like the basic recipes that I can count on as being great. Elena, a server, is now requested by us. She is not only friendly, but very professional as well. The Red Stag is our favorite place for brunch.

    Dark bohemian cottage atmosphere but lighted menus were helpful! Salmon tartare was delicious as was elk carpaccio but there just wasn’t much of it. Bison short ribs were tender and delicious. Duck was smoked and very tender! Our server David was attentive and helpful. Husband wants to go back soon!!

    We were seated next to the servers workstation for our anniversary. There were romantic seating options that would’ve been nice considering we were celebrating a milestone in our lives but unfortunately that clouded the experience a bit. The hostess knew I was disappointed in the seating and sat us there regardless.

    The Host. Long dark hair was curt, no smile, we arrived early because of the St Pattys day traffic, rain etc. please note we were not expecting to be seated early. We only wanted to “check in” to let them know we will be outside by the fireplace but he verbally told us “I will seat you closer to table time”. Well we were seated 10 minutes after our “table time”. Mary our waitress was professional and asked us if we were celebrating anything and we said yes our 24th wedding anniversary. Chef as always was outstanding! Bottom line is we felt very unwelcome at the door.

    Service was exceptional and the decor was really cool, being an advid outdoorsman and hunter. Ordered the Elk and Red Stag and both were good. The Red Stag was cooked perfectly to medium as ordered but the outside was too charred. Not one to send it back so I did not but for the cost, I should have. So be specific when ordering. Overall I would go back.

    My husband and I ate here for our wedding anniversary and birthdays and it was amazing! The food was delicious and the service was outstanding! I highly recommend the duck!! The seared scallops were also delicious but the duck by far stole the show!

    I will start with a positive~ A beautiful restaurant! We've eaten here a couple times and food was wonderful! However, this visit was very disappointing. While I do order my steak well done, my steak was very dry! Zero juices on the plate and had little taste. Filet mignon is an excellent cut of meat. I've had steaks cooked in other restaurants that I could literally cut with a fork. I ordered béarnaise sauce and while it had a very good taste, it was brought to our table COLD! I did send that back but upon returning to the table... it wasn't much warmer. Our potato side dish was even brought to the table COLD. I am sorry, but that is un-acceptable. When you dine at an up-scale restaurant like Red Stag, that is not the food experience you expect. The menu prices certainly don't reflect food served like this either. My husbands Elk was a little dry as well. Sadly, at this time, not sure I could recommend Red Stag going forward.

    The environment, service and food were all just right to host some friends’ pre-wedding brunch. Alana was an attentive but not overly hovering server, and the round table, quiet but lively atmosphere, and delicious food made it all magical. Would highly recommend for a special occasion if you like a cozy hunting-lodge atmosphere.

    Outstanding as a quiet place for a date night dinner. The food was not memorable. The Kessler calamari stood out. The bison short rib was okay but it had a ridiculous amount of fat.

    We went to celebrate a very special anniversary. They knew we were there to celebrate an anniversary. We were greeted by a young man who acknowledged our anniversary. That’s when the experience went bad. We waited twenty minutes before a waitress finally came to our table. Apologies followed and a waiter came to wait on us. Again apologies. He bought some bread to make up for the wait. Order taken, and again we wait, over an hour to get our meal. My wife ordered a fillet and I ordered the duck. The fillet was a small piece of meat on a big plate, nothing to dress the plate, nothing to make it look attractive. She ordered potatoes with that. Again nothing special. The duck I ordered was overcooked and not worthy of a restaurant of this price range. When we refused dessert, a manager came over and apologized for the service and the meal. He said since they didn’t meet our expectations he would comp our meal. I told him I didn’t come for a free meal, I came to celebrate a big event in my life. This restaurant failed miserably. We come to Asheville on a regular basis, there are better restaurants at a fraction of the price. Choose another restaurant.

    Elk Tenderloin was fantastic!! My husband got the ribeye and it was good as well. The sides are family style, we had creamed spinach and it was amazing! We had a barrel old fashion, I normally do not love old fashions but theirs are fantastic!!

    Appalachian salad was good. Ordered filet and it was not very tender. Was cooked med rare like requested but it was just not a very tender piece of meat. Brussel sprouts were good. Brian, my waiter was great!!!

    Just walking into The Red Stag was was satisfying in so many ways. The appeal to the senses, being filled with both warmth and amazement, began even as we entered the garage entrance. Everyone, from the parking staff to the wait staff, was, like the building itself, warm and inviting. Once seated, we continued to enjoy the views and conversation centered around the wonderful ambiance. The back lit menu was a very pleasant surprise, allowing very easy viewing of the available fare. The wait staff was very helpful and patient, allowing us ample time to make our selections. The food was absolutely delicious! As we walked the streets of downtown Asheville the following day, fond memories of our previous night's meal were happily discussed. Thanks for such a wonderful dining experience!

    The calamari was oily, we had scallops and they were small the risotto good. Waiter was nice. But we were sick all night and still are today. Don’t think it was too fresh. Don’t think we’ll be back.

    We visited the Red Stagg for a belated Valentines dinner. Everything was perfect with a romantic Atmosphere. The food was divine and also our bottle of red wine we selected . It’s a little pricey , but worth the money for such an unique dining experience. Free valet parking was included too .
