Excellent food and service. Great experience.
Great food, calamari is wonderful, halibut superb, great salads , good wine selection, you cannot go wrong
Celebrating my parents' birthdays at the Red Stag Grill was fabulous! The food was delicious, and the ambiance was outstanding.
Everything was perfect. Highly recommend Red Stag for a special occasion dinner. Will return we we are in town.
Excellent worth coming back for fantastic food best filet mignon ever bernaise sauch was great with the steak can’t wait to come back ASAP
Very nice dinner for 3 out of town guests. We thoroughly enjoyed the experience.
The ambience is wonderful - perfect for date night! Dinner was delicious - the menu is spectacular and unique. The lamb was tender and moist with a perfectly light mint seasoning and the duck breast was delicious!
Dessert was disappointingly poorly done in comparison with little flavor and mediocre texture on the bread pudding, at least.
Overall, I definitely recommend visiting for dinner and drinks! Dessert...well you may want to visit a cute local bakery instead.
There was No Chicken choice available? More options should be offered
Driving into the Valet parking area made you feel like you were Europe some place. What a unique place with the ambiance of a wild game lodge. Both of our meals were excellent. The server recommended the Braised Lamb Shank and it was perfect. My Vodka martini was a bit on the "weak" side. My wife's lobster and Filet was cooked to perfection. Perfect place to enjoy dinner on our trip from Wisconsin.
Harrison is a fabulous server, he knows the menu and is attentive and does his job masterfully to assure the entire table is pleased. The food menu is a nice change from the standard fare at many restaurants. We look forward to tasting the many seasonal food offerings. The drink menu is varied and of quality. A fun surprise is the dinner menu is lighted, the restaurant lighting is on the cozy side, so that is helpful. We always try to eat at Red Stag Grill when we are in Asheville.
Great restaurant with unique interior and setting for dinner. We attended for my husband's 50th with family and there was something on the menu for everyone. Food was very good and service was excellent.
Recommend for special occasions or date weekend.
very nice atmosphere for dining. Wait person was attentive and knowledgeable. the quality of the food was excellent but the both of our meals, steaks and side dishes, were served warm at best. Should have better oversight in a restaurant of this caliber.
Seated promptly at reservation time. Server was very knowledgeable and helpful. Food was outstanding! An overall excellent evening for our party of 6.
Wonderful food and service as always. Bring back the Elk!
Very nice restaurant. I recommend trying it once...perhaps for an anniversary. Upside was that the food was very well prepared and the downside was the brightness of the menus, darkness of the dining room. I like gadgetry and ambience as much as anybody, but the menus were VERY (uncomfortably) bright, to the point that my wife was able to take a picture of me from the light of the menu alone. Opening the menu in the dark was blinding. We had friends go two nights later and same comments.
Compared to prior dinners here it was very poor. Either they had a bad night or management is slipping
Ribeye was gristly and undercooked, tough to cut and they were served on little plates that slide around on the table when trying to cut the gristly meat. Sides were good but came out cold like they were cooked far in advance of the steak. Service was very good unlike the steaks.
Great service! Wonderful food! Would definitely recommend this restaurant.
My friends and I went to Ashville to celebrate a friend's birthday. She wanted to visit a classy upscale restaurant and this was the perfect place. Had an excellent time and the food was amazing!
We celebrated our 4 year wedding anniversary dining at the Red Stag. From beginning to end it was perfect. Our waiter was informative and helpful with meal suggestions as well as local places to check out after our meal. My husband is a pucky eater and he loved every bit of it. I had lamb and he had antilope. Mine was tender and flavorful. His was just as flavorful but a little over cooked so make sure you stress your preference. Over all I would go back again in a heartbeat!
Very crowded. Felt a little rushed due to the amount of people. This was different from past experiences. Great place, just not the best day. Will be back.
Waitstaff attentive and pleasant but did not bring two requests after affirming that he would. Otherwise, overall experience good
One of my favorite restaurants!!
Charming setting great ambiance
Food was terrific and the service superb
Great food great service. Wonderful ambience. Awesome menu.
This was our fourth trip to the Red Stag Grille, and it never disappoints. Excellent!
The food was very overpriced for what we received. I expected a much higher quality meal and more attentive staff. I think our waiter was junior compared to the other waiters we overheard. It was our anniversary so we made a decision to come here verses the other restaurants in Asheville. We regretted that decision and won't be back again. If the price was half what we paid I'd probably have a different review.
We always love eating here. The food and service are always exceptional. On this trip, we had the pumpkin cheesecake and it was the best I have ever eaten.
Food was bland and service was poor, we were very disappointed with our dining experience.
Beautiful atmosphere, cozy, quiet. Wonderful food. Had filet mignon with the creamy mashed potatoes.
Nice Sunday brunch buffet with fresh fruit and roasted veggies. Excellent shrimp and grits. Good salmon. Gorgeous atmosphere. Service rather slow and disinterested.
Great service and food. Everything was great! We will be back when we come back into town.
We loved the place food and drinks were awesome! We go back when in town again.
What does it say about a place that when you return home (up north) from a visit to Asheville and an acquaintance, upon learning of your visit, immediately asks if you went to Marriott's Grand Bohemian? Then she asked if we had dinner at the Red Stag Grill? Such were her immediate, excited questions about Asheville followed by my equally enthusiastic response that the Red Stag was fabulous. Sometimes hotel restaurants are not noted for exceptional cuisine or even exceptional service, especially in an area with a high concentration of tourists. So it was with some trepidation that we made reservations at the Red Stag and were amply rewarded by the decision. The decor is striking, the ambiance warm and inviting, the service exceptional from the receptionist to the bar tenders and severs. Everything we ordered was expertly prepared and delicious. My husband had the escargot/mushroom appetizer served in a miniature red pot that he said was the best he has ever had. While waiting for our car we chatted with a group of locals who said they frequently dine at the restaurant. That seems like high praise for a hotel restaurant.
The food quality was good, but overcooked: Halibut and crab. The single exception being the steak, which was good. Service was slow with long lapses between courses. The ambiance was quite nice as was the noise level. Would we return? No.
Went there to celebrate our anniversary and had a fabulous meal! Returned the next night for drinks at the bar to listen to Ray tickle the ivories. Great vibe!
One of my absolute favorites in Asheville! Had another amazing meal and will most certainly be back again next time we visit.
Great Special place. Have dined there before. Would visit there again.
I am conflicted about this dining experience. Our server was terrific but the cuisine was not. My husband ordered sampling menu and was satisfied. I ordered squash soup which was good but not exceptional. My entree, duck breast with roasted veggies and mashed potatoes was nearly inedible due to the high level of salt. The restaurant compensated me with with a gratis dessert but when the most important part of dinner is bad, cake is not appealing. We were celebrating our 30th wedding anniversary and no one even wished us happy anniversary! Don’t know why Open Table includes option to designate special occasions if restaurants don’t bother to utilize the information.
Red Stag is simply the best of the eclectic cuisine Asheville has to offer. Location - interesting, service - excellent and food - A+++. Could not ask for more in town for a good place for any type of nice dinner.
