Awesome place. A must do.
David was a great server very helpful and accommodating. The food was amazing we had the elk chops and bison steak both very good and flavorful. The carrot cake for dessert is amazing and the homemade ice cream was also delicious. I recommend this place to anyone for a great dinner and a great time
This restaurant is consistently wonderful. The food is delicious and the service is outstanding. Every time.
Daily lunch special, a welcome change from the usual lunch entrees. Dessert (carrot cake) lacked flavor, the cake layers were too thin.
The tuna nicoise tasted like it was recently defrosted in a microwave. Not sure if it was, just tasted that way. Very nice ambiance for a business lunch. Waiter was nice but a rookie. I expect more at these prices.
It was my birthday and I selected Red Stag because I love their halibut, which they had taken off the menu. I invited two dear friends to dine with us and the service was awful. Unfortunately when the meals were served and one had to go back because they over cooked her steak. While the rest of us all ate our meals it was more than half an hour before her steak came out. Not one person checked on us, offered her a salad or appetizer. This was their first experience at Red Stag and will be our last. I was very disappointed.
My husband and I went for our anniversary. We booked a reservation for Sunday at lunch and brunch was the only thing available to us which was absolutely fine. However brunch runs until 230. Our reservation was at 1:15. A lot of the items had already run out from the brunch and the items that were still available had been sitting out for a very long time. I had to ask for numerous things to be brought out and the things that we did eat were not that tasty considering they had been sitting under a heat lamp for too long Or at room temperature for too long. If a restaurant is going to host a brunch service then everything needs to be fully stocked and replenished until brunch is over. If that cannot happen a restaurant needs to allow customers to order à la carte. We were very disappointed with the brunch at the restaurant manager is very willing to listen and hopefully the information got passed on to the kitchen.
Ok brunch. Could be amazing but a few things were just off. The hot items weren’t hot enough. The baked goods were dried out. The salads were in individual servings which is great but there was only one of each out which was awkward. The menu sounds awesome. But it left something to be desired. With a bit of work this would be top notch.
Just wonderful. Staff was so attentive; food was excellent. Can't wait to go back.
Decided to go to the Red Stag for our 20th wedding anniversary dinner on a whim. Was NOT disappointed! Everything was top notch. 4 stars for service only because our server was so busy. He was great but I have an idea he would have been much more attentive had he be able. But this was an awesome dining experience nonetheless.
My boyfriend ordered the rib eye steak. The cut was completely wrong which made the meat extremely tough. The steak knives were so dull that we had to press so hard that our fingers hurt. He ordered the diet Coke and had to return it because the syrup had run out and it was only seltzer water. We had eaten at the Red Stag in 2018 and were pleased with the food however this dinner was awful. We were so disappointed with this experience that we will not back to this establishment.
Everything was wonderful from start to finish. We had a drink at the bar before being seated and the bartenders were very attentive and friendly. Once we moved to our table, the server was outstanding and the food was fantastic. Can't say enough good things about this place!
Great atmosphere and food. Dave our server was great.
Food was excellent! A little high-priced, but I knew that when I came. I had the butchers choice filet. Great meal, but the filet was a little dry.
Great service and food
Excellent restaurant, with a beautiful ambiance. Our server was delightful and extremely informative about items on the menu and pairing recommendations. The presentation of our plates was only outdone by the flavor of our food.
This was a repeat visit to the Red Stag Grill. The menu had changed so we could not enjoy the same dishes we had previously. My biggest complaint was the music playing while we ate dinner. It was more suited to a dance club or a bar than an upscale restaurant. Classical or smooth jazz would have been more appropriate and more suited to the restaurant's ambiance.
The meatloaf was excellent. The SheCrab soup was good but a little "fishy" tasting. Chicken salad was excellent. Prices are very "fair" for lunch and atmosphere is delightful in the winter. The fried green tomato and pimento sandwich a week ago was disappointing because the tomato was hard! I love going here in the fall and winter.
Really great food, service, and attention to detail. Valet guys were very helpful to me and my wife, who was in a wheelchair. Jim Addison.
We had the chef's menu and was really good except for the antelope which was very chewy. Other than that the rest of the food and wine was great. Will be back to see you.
Amazing atmosphere and service was good. The food was good. I thought my lamb was a bit bland but overall it was great
Excellent food and service-will return when back in the area.
The atmosphere was interesting. There were many things that caught the eye. The lobby was spectacular. We enjoyed the 4 course premiere wine pairing. Although good, the courses were not outstanding. It seems like this is a special occasion location instead of a place for an evening out. As such, I expected over the top food. The food was good but not exceptional. I would go again for a dinner, but not for a special event.
The food was outstanding. This was our second dinner at the restaurant and it was as good as the first. Love the variety and use of seasonal vegetables. Service is always outstanding from the valet to the bartenders and the servers. Value is excellent.
Went out for a nice birthday brunch with my family. The decor and atmosphere were lovely. Everyone found the food absolutely delicious. Our waitress seemed a bit inexperienced and often left empty plates on our table for extended periods of time. However, this is the only criticism I have to offer of this place. We will definitely be returning!
We had a delicious breakfast before our tour of Biltmore. Our server Nick was excellent! I love the atmosphere and decor.
The food was amazing. The service was fantastic. It was very loud around the bar where we first walked in, but it was much quieter once we passed the bar and moved to the back of the restaurant.
Good, service and ambience were outstanding! The only drawback was a large informal group at the bar, which was somewhat noisy but also did provide an atmosphere of activity and liveliness. We will return.
The only reason I can't recommend it more to people is because it's outside the price range of most of the folks I know, but I do sometimes visit with them to have drinks and to look at the art. I LOVE the Red Stag and I'll be back as soon as I can!
Great food, great service and atmosphere. The menu items are a little pricey, we typically go there for special occasions.
The atmosphere in the restaurant was very warm, the decor was very elegant and classy. Our server David was so accommodating and went above and beyond to ensure that we had an exceptional experience. The food and service were excellent as well
We had a wonderful server and the salad was phenomenal. Scallops were quite tasty as well, but I was disappointed in the main course. We had duck and antelope, and while flavorful, the antelope was almost too tough to eat. All in all, not a terrible experience but for your money, there are better choices in Asheville.
The whole experience was amazing and it was very enjoyable! The prices were very high especially for the portions. The desert was mediocre. If the prices were not so high, I would go a lot more often
We had a very pleasant dinner this evening. David was amazing
I would not recommend the brunch. It was very expensive for cold food. We love the Red Stag any other time but the brunch is not worth the money.
A BRUNCH MUST! This brunch buffet has everything dreams are made of! And ever aspect of it is delicious! Worth every penny!
Sunday brunch was a huge disappointment. We had a wonderful dinner here last month and expected brunch to be equally good. It was such a let down . Other than the omelette station the food was cold. I don't mean just slightly warm, I mean cold. Imagine cold cheddar grits, cold gravy, cold French toast. The biscuits seemed like they had been cooked the day before. The rolls looked like the ones you buy in a plastic bag in the grocery . There were no bagels, no English muffins no crusty bread even though they had cream cheese and salmon. The "seafood display" consisted of a bowl of shrimp,(which was almost always empty) along side a bowl of lemons, and a bowl of cocktail sauce. The carving station had lamb and sirloin, which was very dry and very cold . I suspect it was left overs. Brunch for 2 with a Bloody Mary (on special for $5) was $99 - with tip $120. We left very disappointed and will not be back. There are dozens of great breakfast/brunch spots around Asheville. I recommend avoiding this one.
Great breakfast, service in a unique ambiance. A visit to Red Stag should be a must to any Asheville visit.
AMAZING food and drinks! Would recommend to anyone visiting Asheville!
We have been here before and it is our favorite high end restaurant in Asheville. They would have received all 5 stars if not for the food service glitch when one of our party of 4 was served 5 minutes later than the rest. Otherwise, we still love this place.
