Music selection was interesting. Perfectly cooked swordfish. Linguine was over cooked but our friend liked it. Frank was great. Ambiance wonderful. Will return perhaps next time for drinks by the fire pit.

Probably best that this restaurant just close its doors....Yikes!! When I made the reservation, I'd hoped for so much more. Initially made for 4 people, we learned that 2 more would join us. Open Door wouldn't allow me to modify to 6, so I called and left a friendly, detailed message about the change request. No response. When we got there, 6 people couldn't be seated together outside despite not a whole lot going on inside or outside. The front manager apologized for no one responding to me. I asked that we be seated somewhere with the best view possible, so I put us in the middle of what felt like a cafeteria. We could, however, see some boats out in the marina from afar.

Food-wise.....out of lobster and swordfish which limited the menu dramatically as it wasn't much of a list to begin. One would think with a name Red Marlin and located on Mission Bay, there would be a variety. Surf and Turf was still on the menu without lobster....substituted in its place was shrimp. I had that despite no break in the hefty $$ and it was good albeit a small serving of steak.

Wine menu was unimpressive, although they did take back a bottle of odd Barbera which tasted unlike any Barbera we'd ever tried.

The waiter was thrown when we asked to handle the check by (3) couples as we weren't sitting directly next to our spouses. We switched spots to accommodate his memory...he joked, "I'm just not that smart." He did keep us watered and wined through the night.

Bread tasted very bland and was possibly store-bought. Clam chowder was excellent!

It was just an odd experience and not one that any of us enjoyed or would recommend to others. Do yourselves a favor and skip the Red Marlin. There are lots of options around town.

The portions are very generous. We have the New York steak, the bigeye steak, clam chowder, jalapeño cheddar bread, and pots de creme dessert. We didn’t finish any of it because of the amount of food, but very tasty and unique spin on what would be a steak dinner. The server Praveen was absolutely amazing and attentive.

We were seated outdoors which is a nice setting and they did supply us with a heater as it was just a little chilly. The service was attentive. Charlie who was our waiter was very nice and helpful. I gave it three stars because the steak was not really that good. The macaroni and cheese and salad were very good. I would try it again but not order a steak.

We went to dinner at RED MARLIN for my birthday with my daughter and her husband after spending the afternoon on a Duffy ride in Mission Bay. It was the only restaurant near by that had reservations available for the time we wanted. I was very happy with the entire experience, We ate on the patio, they had heaters available. The service was friendly and efficient, the food was fabulous. We all enjoyed our meals. My daughter has celiac and the menu had many gluten free options for her. The prices are high but the value was good for the location, service and food.

Our group had a positive dining experience at the Red Marlin last Friday evening. Everything we ordered was tasty. The service was excellent. Highly recommend if you are staying at the Hyatt Regency Mission Bay Spa and Marina.

Frank was an amazing server! We got the surf n turf (lobster and steak) and shrimp linguine for dinner.. both delicious. We started with some delicious halibut ceviche. Great food, great service and great experience!

Way too expensive. It’s not worth the money. The steak was terrible, all fat. I like their Brussels sprouts as an appetizer. Still too expensive

I was hoping the quality of some of the food would be better. In particular I wasn’t a big fan of the ribeye steak and the agave chicken. My wife tried the ceviche and although the flavor was excellent some of the fish wasn’t marinated long enough in the lime juice and some pieces were uncooked.
My duck confit appetizer was the highlight for me when we ate there on consecutive nights.

This restaurant was convenient while staying at the hotel but I'm not sure we would return. With a reservation we were seated immediately, which was great. View was beautiful. Saw Sea World fireworks. But the food, ugh. Such limited entree choices at $35-$50 and nothing more presented onsite. I was going to get the chicken dinner and wedge salad but the server told me they were out of the wedge and the chicken was pretty basic. She couldn't recommend anything but the seafood bake. That wasn't encouraging. Hubby and I both ended up going with the swordfish,$35. It was good but forgettable. Literally just the meat a swipe of a spread and 3 small tomatoes. I asked if any salad at all could be served and I did appreciate a small green salad being made for me (greens, cucumber, tomatoes) The kids meals were best value. $10 and good size/taste.
I also told server it was my 40th and son's 10th birthday this week. She offered us one of 3 desserts. We went with the mousse, at $10. Wasn't sure if it was on the house or not with the way she presented the choices. Glad it was, because it was small and didn't taste like much more than a hunt's pudding cup.
To get a decent meal here you're looking at $34-50/pp plus extra $12-$15 for a salad, app and drink. So $100/pp. To be justifying that price I think there should be more choices or more appealing flavors. We shouldn't be settling. We were looking for a convenient yet semi-special birthday dinner after a day at the pool. This was not the best location for us. Unsettled with prices and options.
The staff was friendly and we did appreciate the warmers being placed right next to us.

I ordered swordfish and all it came with was about 2 tablespoons of pureed parsnips and a few pistachios on top. There were no vegetables or anything else. The cost was $38. Not worth it in my opinion, even with the great views.

My husband and I tried dinner here even though the ratings was low. I had a swordfish and my husband ordered steak. The portion came out decent and the food was good. We were happy with our meal and the service was great. We will come back again.

The food was very good but a little pricey. The booth was comfortable and had nice view. The desserts are delicious and worth the prices.
It’s a nice place to go on a date or with friends. Very casual.

Steak lacked on flavor. Not enough salt...all three of us agreed on this. Was not a fan of the horseradish sauce on top. Medium was cooked more like medium well. Lobster & scampi were a disappointment as not much lobster in dish. However flavor was good.
Sides were delicious. Sadly enjoyed those more than the main dish.
