Red Fish - Hilton Head
Red Fish has always been a consistently good restaurant for me. This week I had the lunch special, a Red Snapper entree. It was the most delicious preparation of fresh caught fish. I savored every bite. As always the service is very professional, attentive and friendly.
Will continue returning to Red Fish. We always enjoy the atmosphere and the food is delicious. HIghly recommend!
Fried oyster appetizer was sent back because it was cold about $14. So it came back warm and very greasy. Plus I was served 20-30 minutes after my husband's dinner because I sent it back for being cold. Blue Cheese & bacon salad $11 - very small & served room temperature. We were charged double on the wine so the bill had to go back.
We have been there many times over a few years, but this time was a huge disappointment. Food quality was poor.
My husband had the pork thick steak with lots of gristle but flavor was good.
Oh well, they are at 1 start at best for quality of food. Service wasn't good because the oysters which cam back warm were served 20-30 minutes after my husband's dinner.
Then when they overcharged us & we had to send the bill back, that was when I decided to mark them down.
They should have adjusted the bill because my husband was done eating by the time I was served the warm, not hot as expected, fried oysters.
We love to go to Red Fish on Wednesdays when John Brackett's group is playing. They are excellent musicians and we always have a good time while eating RF's delicious good!
The shrimp spring rolls and pork steak were amazing!
The ambiance was very nice, setting expectations, but the food was just ok, and at their prices I would expect better. It was not exceptional as it was years ago. Not a surprise though as it was a Tuesday night when most restaurants had an hour or more wait... Redfish was nearly empty. Shame, was good only a few years back.
The halibut was over cooked; the blackened grouper was not blackened, it was grilled; the grouper and vegetable strudel had a very ketchup tasting sauce on them. The scallops and chicken were good but not awesome. The lobster/shrimp Mac n cheese had very little cheese sauce and very little lobster and shrimp. Our server was very nonchalant about our requests. We used to love this place. We won’t be back.
Our service was fantastic, food yummy and ambiance great!
The food was very tasty. Great flavors on the entree and appetizers.
RedFish is my go to place for “catch up” lunches. Good food, pleasant atmosphere!
Great experience as always. Our server went out of his way to accommodate us with special requests!
Red Fish is ALWAYS amazing and delicious!
We ate an early dinner, 5:15. The foody among us really enjoyed his food. Most of the others thought it was good but not anything memorable. Service was great. Only negative was that my wife was looking forward to their frozen Twix bar dessert and they were out.
reservation was for a 50th birthday. absolutely no attempt by restaurant to acknowledge the occasion with preferred seating, special offer from kitchen, etc. even though this occasion was mentioned in advance. our server, Annon, was fantastic. retail wine store great but this was not worth the price.
Was surprisingly quiet for a Sunday evening especially for the ending of the 4th of July weekend. Had one of the seafood specials - Halibut and it was excellent. The soup special Gaspacio for an appetizer was also quite impressive. Had no more for desert as I eat someones salad which they could't finish. Can't wait to return .....
On vacation, had reservations for early dinner, didn’t need them, they weren’t busy. We ordered off the early dining menu. House salad with mango vinaigrette was lovely. Shrimp and grits were tasty. Portions were smaller but wasn’t an issue. Atmosphere lovely, wait staff attentive. We would return.
Great pairing of food and your own personal wine selection to make it a fantastic experience.
Birthday celebration and impressed in every aspect! 3rd visit to Red Fish and I think it gets better every time! Highly recommend!!
Great service from Lori.
First time to visit. All aspects were exceptional!
We are regulars to HHI and to this restaurant and on our last visit the food wasn’t really bad, ...but it wasn’t really great - as with past visits. It was almost like some cost saving measures had been put into place instead of the food being excellent.
Laci our server was awesome! The crab dip was great and we enjoyed the Scottish salmon
Great value for wine. Great selection for wine too. Food was great although a bit pricey. Great place to visit at least once each time we come to Hilton Head. Service was excellent too.
Wonderful meal! Our first night in Hilton Head. We booked at Red Fish because of favourable reviews on blogs. We were not disappointed. I had shrimp and grits made gluten free, my husband had halibut and was delighted with his meal. Teenagers who don’t like seafood were able to order from the kids menu even though they are no longer kids. They were happy with their plain pasta and chicken. Overall I highly recommend Red Fish and will go again next time we come to HH. Portions were moderate, more like city dining. Great experience.
We love Red Fish, especially on Wednesday evenings to hear the John Brackett group perform. Always a treat!
A wonderful island experience. The food was AMAZING!! The shrimp and grits was so tasty and the filet cooked to perfection; delicious bread, also. Our server, Marissa, was PERFECT!! She was friendly, helpful, and very attentive. The live entertainment was enjoyable, as well. The perfect dinner spot!!
We usually love Red Fish - snuck away from the family to have a nice date night out. Big mistake this year. The addition of the music in the bar area was nice, added to the romantic ambiance. However, it was very hot in this area due to the door constantly being opened. We were situated between the front door and the kitchen -needs better a/c. Our food was delicious, tuna appetizer, sea bass and barmundi; unfortunately our evening was spoiled by very bad service. You would think, sitting right by the bar where EVERY server and the manager were (the servers get all their tables drinks), someone would have noticed us. Our time from sitting down to seeing our server was almost 15 mins; another almost 10 to get our drinks and order our appetizer; the app came quickly; then empty drink glasses, dirty silverware and the app plate sat on our table for another 15 before we ordered dinner. The plate was cleared, but the dirty silverware remained, along with the empty drink glass thruout the duration of dinner - including after ordering another drink (this time a beer, so the cocktail glass sat). After eating, with empty dinner plates in front of us for another 10+ minutes, we had to flag down our server for the check. It then sat on the table for over 12 mins til my husband got up to ask a group of servers and the manage if SOMEONE would please take it. We enjoy leisurely dining, and appreciate not being rushed. But being ingnored is a whole different subject. This is an expensive place, we came planning on having a lovely and luxurious meal. We watched other tables have attentive service, come & go, clear out, have 3-4 courses. It’s a shame as we will think twice about returning, and we visit HHI 2-3 times a year.
Food is always delicious and the wine selection is impressive. Calamari is amazing! Service was good and the timing of the meal perfect. Also enjoyed the live entertainment.
Great meal. Fran was wonderful as a server. Gave excellent food reccomendations and was very accomodating to the young child in our group. Best restaurant exerience we had in Hiton Head and the scallops were the best entree I have had this year.
Fran was AMAZING. She was efficient, made great recommendations and was extremely friendly and nice.
Everything was great!! Service food we will be back!! Great early bird special!!
Overall for the money a decent place to get together with friends. Service, ambiance and noise were good. The entire table was able to hear each other without yelling! People at my table had steak, scallops and halibut. Apparently the scallops and steak were nicely done, but my halibut, the special of the evening was over done. Deserts all looked awesome. The Coconut cream pie..amazing!
Once again a very good quiet lunch with friends. That’s why I keep coming back.
Our meal was okay. Our server was fun and attentive; but, we found the food and overall experience less than expected for a restaurant with such high reviews
Food was good, however the resturant was understaffed resulting in very slow service. Parking lot was completely filled. We parked across the street.
Amazing, the Chilean Sea Bass was unbelievable
Great wine and excellent food and service
Food was OK. No fresh catch of the day. Over-priced tourist stop is a good summery of our meal. Excellent wine selection
Fantastic meal! The Twix dessert was a great way to end the meal.
