Red Fish - Hilton Head Ratings and Reviews
Waitress was fantastic. Menu for early restaurant week was nice. My barramundi was fabulous. Scallops were okay but not what we have become accustomed to at Red Fish. Desserts and great coffee capped a nice meal.
Overall a wonderful night for our son’s birthday.
Met up with friends in Hilton Head to celebrate New Years Eve together. Red Fish was the choice for dinner and it was a great selection. Food was superb, wait service excellent and no one pressured us to leave, so it was thoroughly relaxing.
A little noisy, but not deafening. Would highly recommend.
We were seated at 7:17 pm and at 7:30 no one had yet to approach our table. This is considered to be an upscale dining experience and we are so disappointed. We left.
It is truly not forgivable to be ignored. I used to train servers and 30 seconds was the standard to make contact with your table and suggest a cocktail, or to ask for an extra minute to serve hot food or cash out a check.
We are not sure we will return.
Had looked forward to a nostalgic birthday celebration as we had dined here several times in the past. Very disappointed in the service - table not set with adequate settings; sat at a table with no lighting at all; server got daughter’s entree order wrong and she had to wait for her entree to arrive. No effort was made to compensate for the error whatsoever and server cavalier about the mistake. Food was decent but not worth the exorbitant prices. Truly disappointing and will never return.
This restaurant was ok. We should have requested a table in the front room which was like a wine cellar. The atmosphere was much more appealing than where we sat in the side room. Food was just okay - nothing all that noteworthy. Service was slow which seems to be common down here in lowcountry. What I thought was most odd was that there was a table in the center of tye room that was just behind our table that seemed to function as a bussing table - there were empty beer bottles and used plates sitting on it and that’s what I looked at during the course of our meal. Overall this place was disappointing and I would not return. I did enjoy the Christmas music they were playing.
Have eaten here many times. This time was really enjoyable. The food, service and music was all excellent. They were only seating people in the bar area which was a wise decision as the crowd was small and having everyone in the same room created a nice buzz and made for a fun atmosphere.
Main dining room was very noisy and service was lack luster. We waited 15 mins before our waiter ever made it to our table, I even had to take my cocktail to the bar for refill as our waiter was too busy that evening. For the price of the food i would recommend looking at other Hilton Head restaurants as I have had amazing meals at that price point at other local venues. Overall we were disappointed in the experience and quality. Please know that it was not horrible, just not worth the money when there are other restaurants on the island that are worth it.
Very accommodating to my online seating request in the "wine room." If you don't sit there, you could be in a banquet hall any where. The filet was totally overcooked...despite my husband's request for medium rare. But, it was Christmas Eve, crowded and we didn't want to delay the dinner....
Crab cake entree portion size was large. "Local" flounder was quite good. Not expensive, but dependable.
We really enjoyed our appetizers ans salads. The seared foils gras was WONDERFUL, but the bread was far too thickly cut--like Texas Toast! Thin toast points would have been far more appropriate for such delicious delicate flavors!.
The sea bass entree was delicious but the soy glazed udon was very salty. The barramundi needed more seasoning and/or a sauce--a disappointing choice.
That said, the service was terrific and we very much enjoyed being there, even if we stick to the appetizers and salads next time.
The thanksgiving 4 course meal was out of this world great! Probably the best meal we have had at Red Fish and that is saying a lot as we have dined there many times. The selections offered were perfect...the crab cakes were the best we've ever eaten and the prime rib was perfectly cooked, juicy, tender and succulent! The apple crisp dessert was simply sinful! Great job as always and so nice to have such a wonderful meal on Thanksgiving evening!
We were at Red Fish for Thanksgiving dinner. It was excellent. There was so much food we took home half and had it for dinner the next night. I had the salmon, it was perfect. The pecan pie was really good, couldn’t figure out how it could be so good without being overly sweet like most pecan pies. Decided I never have to cook Thanksgiving dinner again!
Had Thanksgiving dinner. Four courses with choices. Appetizer mushroom puff pastry excellent. Oysters boring. Second course salad good, crab corn soup excellent. Main course turkey and fixings were dry and boring. Desert very good. Our waitress Nicole was awesome. All in all an average experience. Sorry
Red Fish has always been my favorite vacation restaurant, usually going 2-4 times during a 2-week vacation a few times each year. I had a horrible experience recently. First, the wait staff and kitchen noise is LOUD when I have an early reservation and few diners are present. There are very FEW veggie options. The prices are high. I ordered fried oysters (two appetizers) for my entree and requested they be lightly battered and fried; they arrived very greasy with NO oyster taste. The accompanying slay was a waste. The carrot cake (which I look forward to for months!) was quite small (a few bites). The service is good. I will NEVER return again; an expensive meal that I should have sent back. Shame on you Red Fish. A major disappointment.
Took visiting friends to Redfish for lunch. We were so happy to have made that our destination. We sat in a corner of the wine "cellar" that was just perfect. Our server, Jennifer, was professional and very attentive considering she was also mixing drinks. She was quite delightful and added to our overall great experience. Portions were perfect and every meal was delicious--Caesar Salad with Chicken, Cubano Sandwich, and the Seafood Roll. Looking forward to our return.
We are visiting Hilton Head Island and were looking for a nice seafood restaurant for a birthday dinner. We were not disappointed. Excellent wine list, but one thing that was disappointing to this non wine-drinker was lack of a cocktail list. The waitress replied they have a fully stocked bar, but when asked if they had coconut rum, she hesitated and wasn't sure. This diner prefers a craft cocktail list to stir the imagination a bit, rather than come up with something ordinary on my own.
Two of us had salads, which were large in portion. I had the goat cheese salad, which came with roasted beets, candied pecans and a citrus vinaigrette. Excellent. My husband had the wedge. For entree's both my husband and I had the chilean sea bass, with a soy glaze and wasabi cream sauce on top. Excellent fish. however, the udon noodles which the fish sat on top of, were not hot enough and cooled rapidly from the first bite for both of us, even though we were warned that the plates were hot. One of our companions had the shrimp and grits, while the other had the special- a wreck fish. All were pleased with our choices. We visited the Red Fish on Hilton Head, but there is a second location near Bluffton.
Would highly recommend this spot.
We love coming to Red Fish for the early bird seating - food is great, staff is pleasant, and every one makes you feel welcomed. Look forward to a return visit next time we are in Hilton Head. Plus we would highly recommend you to any one we know who might be coming for a stay in Hilton Head
