   This is a very elegant restaurant with a fantastic view! The food was delicious! The service was outstanding and there was a great piano player, which we enjoyed as well. I would highly recommend The Reading Room!

   I have been coming here for 14yrs and tonight was hands down the BEST ever fine dining experience with chef Eric at the helm! Kudos BHI you just keep surpassing our last meal! Wow factor!! Highly recommend!!

   Haven’t been here for at least 10 years and was pleasantly surprised at the level of food, ambiance, and service. Very welcoming host! Our birthday dinner was met with a nice, handwritten card at the table and a bit of fluff with the dessert. The setting is still one of the best on the island and simply stunning. The piano player had a varied selection at the perfect level of sound. We shared the pear salad which was inventive and very good. Bar Harbor Blonde oysters, as always, were terrific. Homemade bread with a blueberry composed butter was nice.Husband’s rack of lamb was perfectly cooked. Unfortunately our nice server mixed up my order and brought Cod instead of my order of filet mignon so I had a long delay for my dinner. Dessert was a unique apple w/mousse concoction and was very fun and good!Probably should have comped the dessert for the entree error but not. Otherwise our server was very welcoming and competent.

   First class experience and excellent service. We had the lobster and steak, followed by special blueberry desserts. Great meal!

   The Reading Room is classic white linen high class dining at its best!! Menu, food, service & ambience all first rate! Our server was very professional (can’t recall her name) & very menu knowledgeable - only issue was that the noise level made it difficult to have a good conversation! We’ve been there many times over the years & it is always the highlight of our visits to Bar Harbor!!

    Wonderful experience with pre dinner drink at the bar, but disappointed with the food. Both my wife and I had the ceasar salads, which were bland. Bread with the blue berry butter was outstanding. I had surf and turf, while my wife had lobster. The lobster was pretty good, but filet with the mashed potatoes reminded me of a mass produced banquet dinner. Bartender was very friendly, but maitre d wasn't very friendly or welcoming. Go to Bar Harbor annually, but first time at Reading Room. Will probably not return.
