Overall good, but way to noisy and price point too high for food and wine based on quantity and limited wine selections in the moderate price range.
We enjoyed our lunch. The food choices were great.
Service was minimal and the food was very overpriced for the portion and taste of the food. Not one mention of the birthday celebration that i specifically placed in the reservation notes. Very disappointing experience
I've never had a bad bite at Raven and Rose, or even a mediocre one. All three of us were delighted with our meals and cleaned our plates, and the cocktails were well crafted and nicely presented. Such a treat before the theater.
Solid place with great variety, friendly service and warm ambiance.
My husband and I had a 7:30 p.m. reservation, we were told by our waiter that they were out of steak and lamb. I found this to be odd as usually people tend to eat later in the evening. And when the desert menu arrive there were 2 more items that were no longer available. Our waiter was great and the food that was available was terrific. I would recommend this restaurant, but I would call ahead to see what they ran out of.
We were looking forward to dining at R&R. The food was very good with unique flavors - the roasted carrot salad was fabulous. However, the food service was terrible. It was not a busy evening as 1/4 of the tables were unoccupied and the same for upstairs. We didn't order a lot of food but our salad took 20-30 minutes to come out. The waiter (who was appropriately attentive) said there was a computer glitch. Then when I saw guests who were seated way after us and getting their dinners, i started to worry and had to comment to the waiter. There was no checkin with us while we waited and not even any excuses. It took 20-30m for our entree to arrive after we finished our salad. We didn't get dessert because didn't want to wait another 20minutes.
Great food and drinks! Cheese plate was awesome! Old Fashioned was the best!
$30 corkage, food overpriced
It was OK. Lots of heavily fried food. Not alot of veggie options and pricey.
We brought friends to R&R and had a great time and excellent food.
Excellent food, the staff inquired about our needs and our plans for the evening (a concert), and were very friendly! thank you especially to our server, Ari!
Fantastic Birthday location. Tuesday night live Celtic music followed by a fun game of trivia. Super lovely service, very attentive. Really enjoyed our visit, would love to come back for brunch.
My daughter and I are from Indianapolis and we were there for the INDYCAR race over the weekend and found this gem. Wonderful local Pinot Noir and great food. It was so good I met my cousin from Seattle there another night and it was just as fabulous. Had the same waiter Ari, who is highly recommended to ask for! It was my best meals for my stay in Portland!
This was our first visit to Raven & Rose, although we had been to a charity event they catered and were so taken with it we had to visit. Very glad we did, and we will return.
We met an out of town friend for dinner, requested a quiet table or booth, and that was a good move. It can be active and a bit on the noisy side, but they put us in a lovely spot. Our waiter, Ari, was terrific - he knows the menu, he was attentive without being overly so, he made good recommendations.
The food was just excellent, the drinks were terrific and the wine list, while not huge, offered really good wines by the bottle or glass.
There's a lively happy hour here, although we didn't go to that. Looks quite popular, though.
All in all, we had a fine dinner, great get-together with our friend, and were treated like valued clients.
I got the Lamb. The sauce was amazing! Then you add the other items on the plate it is a symphony! Butterscotch pudding was delightful. The decor is warm and comforting. They had a chalkboard with the schedule for live music which is great. I thoroughly recommend Raven & Rose.
Easily got a booth with no wait with reservations at the last minute. A little slow to deliver food, but was tasty and quiet and not overly busy during the lunch hour. We eat here pretty regularly, there are times when it is very noisy and you feel like you are sitting on top of the folks next to you.
Great food, great service! We had a marvelous lunch and the cocktail was outstanding.
Our hostess was excellent but sadly the food was mediocre at best while being priced in the range with a Bluehour or Higgins and nowhere near the quality.
Food was not authentic. Eggs should be plain and simple. Sausage was tiny. Beans should be Heinz, not horrendous. Black and white pudding would be pepperoni size. Tomatoes would be larger, cut in half and fried. Couldn't find mushrooms, normally nice chunks that belong on a fork. Bread was excellent.
Beautiful setting, disappointing experience.
The service was very pleasant and attentive. The Full Bloody Mary was unique twist on a Bloody Mary with just the right amount of spice. There drink menu looked quite intriguing and I plan to go back to try more of there signature cocktails. The ambiance was cozy.
Wonderful restaurant. Great location and a special historic building.
The food was perfect. Our waitperson was good, but seemed busy and a bit rehearsed. all good but would expect more at this level of restaurant.
Great restaurant. On the pricy side but the location has a lot to do with that. The service is excellent.
Great service, excellent food and drink, and smiling faces!
Fantastic attention from entire staff including dietary restrictions. Outdoor sitting was great ( and quiet), don’t know why others were not outside.
The time change threw off the reservation in our calendars and we showed up an hour early with our clients, but the amazing host and server didn't bat an eye and got a table pulled together very quickly to accommodate our relatively sizable group. The service was above and beyond, the food was excellent, and we had a fun evening. All of the staff was very knowledgeable about the menu, both food and drink, and the area. We so appreciated everything they did for us and we would absolutely go here again, personal or business. Really neat place with wonderful food and service-can't recommend it enough!
I had never gone to the Raven and Rose before, but I was always intrigued by its charming historical flair. I’m glad that I was finally able to dine here. The food was amazing, the drinks were delicious, and the servers we friendly and knowledgeable. I especially loved the Beetroot Salad. The freshly ground black pepper really gave the flavors a whole new dimension. The perfect way to start a meal!
Our server was outstanding; friendly, attentive without intrusive. She had a great personality and seemed genuinely to like people.
We had eggs Benedict (brunch) They were standard but not outstanding. The ham was overdone and tough.
Wonderful that it is in walking distance to the arts venues. Definitely would come back to aim for totally outstanding experience with food.
Great service and food! I felt like we were the only people there for how attentive our server was. Food was excellent and very fresh!
Great place to spend Sunday having brunch. Food, service, and atmosphere is always a treat.
Hostess Beth makes sure you are seated at the requested table, and the rest of the staff performs at the highest level.
Restaurant food is very different from pub bar food which was a bit unexpected but it was all very good
We went for Sunday brunch and it was spectacular. The donut muffins are a must starter, not overly sweet and great with coffee. We each had the full Irish breakfast, everything was cooked perfectly and delicious. Our server was very friendly and extremely helpful. Would definitely go back.
I wouldn't recommend if you have an event to go to after. We had tickets to Les Mis at 1pm, a reservation at 11:30, had to wait while they set up our table, didn't get our food until 12:40 and missed the opening number. We notified the waitress that we had tickets to a show at noon as we noticed the slow service. We requested boxes when our food came to pack out what we needed, had our cards out and paid while we were shoveling our food. During which we got a lecture from the waitress about next time we should make a reservation and notify them that we have tickets to a show. The food was amazing, I wish we could have enjoyed it more and not burned our mouths. Besides having lunch at 10:30, I'm not sure what we could have done better to help the situation.
Love this place: seafood platter is incredible. Irish and English breakfasts are totally authentic! A traditional feel without the snobby feel of Jakes etc
Although we arrived 10 minutes before our actual reservation, the host was able to seat us right away at a table near the window in the heart of the restaurant. Started with the very tasty flatbread while we enjoyed cocktails…the server kept a close eye on our progress and perfectly arranged the timing of our dinners! A very busy evening, however, the service was impeccable, friendly and efficient!
I’ve never had a poor experience and appreciate the meal offerings…thanks again!
A nice place with the famous Pacific Northwest hospitality.
My water carafe is never empty, they will give you a new one if it is empty.
A splendid evening, excellent food, wonderful service friendly atmosphere.
I have been twice and can't wait to go a third time to try out another menu option. Food, presentation, staff, and atmosphere are all great and well worth the trip. The building is an unexpected gem nestled between high-rise buildings.
Don't usually review these restaurants, but my experience at Raven & Rose was somewhat baffling. The food was good and the location nice, but our server, who I will refer to as "Angry Man" was strangely out of place. From the initial approach to our table to the closing of the bill, Angry Man seemed barely able to keep his rage in check. Never once asked me if I wanted a drink (which I'm still trying to understand) and would not look at me though he did acknowledge my two dining companions. Did I do something to offend you, Angry Man? Our food was good, as I said, but the experience was so strange! Angry Man, please, if you are really that unhappy, you need to find another job. I hope you cheer up soon!
