Always a delight to dine at Rare's. Celebrating Graduation. Food was spot on delicious and prepared top notch.
Rare never fails. The steaks are out of this world as is the salmon. The service is always excellent and we love the warm and inviting atmosphere at Rare!!!
We had not been there for a while but it was as special as we remembered. Our server was outstanding! The very best place to celebrate a birthday or any other special event Or just to dine anytime really. Food was marvelous as well.
Good food and good experience but not worth the price.
Ask for Genevieve as your server, she was AWESOME, I wouldnt want anyone else. My son ordered the Delmonico AWESOME cut of meat. I think any steak you would order you would not be disappointed BUT I would never order a steak to share again. Most of our group ordered the large Ribeye. Amount of actual meat served was disappointing for the amount of money it cost. All the sides were served family style and that was a nice suprise.
Food was great, atmosphere was very nice.
As always, Rare is a special treat. The food was delicious and Jahar’s service was impeccable as usual
Phenomenal as always !
The only issue would be that our margaritas were full
Price on happy hour, I would have thought that a margarita would be considered a tequila drink.
Absolutely delicious! Atmosphere was perfect. Service was exceptional. Highly recommend.
2 out of 3 doesn't work for me! After spending over $900 on 3 meals, your quality is VERY inconsistent and I would not try again. The steaks we had on 4/10/21 were at best Choice Grade and hurried through the meal (not even completed salad and steaks were brought out as well as sides-warm, NOT hot). Very disappointed!
Amazing food. Enjoy it more each time we come back!
Always an outstanding overall, complete and well-rounded experience. From the drinks and food to the ambiance, the noise level, customer service. Everything is always top notch. Steaks always melt like butter in our mouths. Never had 1 under or overcooked steak -- always exact. One of our absolute favorite restaurants in Madison. Hands down. Coming from Chicago, we are familiar with top of the line steakhouses and Rare is right up there, alongside them. Recently found out about their Happy Hour and can't wait to come check that out too -- every seat is a great seat in the house -- bar, dining room -- a true stand out here in Madison. Some recommendations we'd highly suggest are: Oysters Rockefeller, Wedge Salad (when on the menu), Lobster Bisque, Filet, Bone-in Ribeye, Béarnaise, Whipped Potatoes, Caramelized Onions and Bananas Foster for a table side show. And you can't skip the Popovers complete with homemade seasonal butter. Can't wait for our next visit!
Delicious food and great service. Love the ambience.
Amazing! Will definitely go back! The food was amazing and enjoyed a Waygu experience.
We went to Rare for its Happy Hour. While we were glad to try it out, the food was just alright, and we'd choose to try out other places in the future. The burger patty ratio to bun was off, though the taste was fine. The fries were too salty. My bf ordered the lobster roll since he hadn't had one before, and said he wouldn't like to have it again.
That said, we did enjoy the draft beer Edmund Fitzgerald and the overall ambience at the restaurant. We could not fault the wait staff for their fine service.
Great service from knowledgeable staff and wonderful food. Would highly recommend the Creme Brulee for dessert.
Amazing food and service!
The ambiance is incredibly cool and that kept the score high. They have an extensive wine menu but I tried the smoked old-fashioned. There was not a smokey vibe to the taste of the drink, which was disappointing, but overall the drink was good. The service was great! The food, however, was ok. My wife had the 6oz cut and I had the 10oz. Both were ordered medium. These were very unevenly cooked. The outside was well done and chewy and the inside was quite rare. We added the lobster oscar, and that was pleasant. However, the main attraction of this restaurant, the steak, would make it so I wouldn't go back.
Cynthia our Captain was a delight. We will be back. Best meal I've had in years.
The crab cakes and salmon appetizer were beyond amazing. The Lobster Bisque was to die for along with some wonderful rib caps (cooked perfectly), with scallops. Bananas Foster tableside finished off the night perfectly. What makes the experience even better is the Wait Captain Genevive, who made the entire evening perfect. If you are going to Rare-Madison, I would ask for her as she makes your dining experience perfect. Thank you, Rare, the Chef's, and Wait Captain Genevive, for allowing us to eat COVID safe during these challenging times.
I took my wife to Rare Steakhouse for our first date since the pandemic started.
The food was exceptional. We had shrimp cocktail and oysters on the half shell for appetizers, my wife had duck confit, and I had a 22oz ribeye. We had creme brulee for dessert. Everything was perfectly cooked.
Our server was outstanding. She was kind, welcoming, anticipated our needs and just took excellent care of us. My wife eats gluten free and once we mentioned that to her, she made the modifications for all of our dishes without us having to ask. My wife and I also don't drink, but nevertheless, she always kept our glasses of San Pellegrino full!
The atmosphere was top-knotch. I wouldn't call Rare Steakhouse a great value; however, I did feel $64.00 was well worth it for the delicious, tender, perfectly cooked steak I had.
Since this was our first date since the pandemic started, I really wanted it to be something special. Rare Steakhouse definitely delivered.
My wife and I had a wonderful experience at Rare. A great atmosphere and really great food went a long way towards the experience. Our service, however is what will make Rare memorable. Knowledgeable, professional, friendly and kind, our server made our stop to Rare better than we could have anticipated!
The food was simply the best I have ever had. The prices were higher than I an used to paying, but it was worth every penny. The service was phenomenal and the steak was perfect! We have decided to make this our anniversary dinner tradition!!
The service was great. The food was even better, I also like the location of the place. It is right by the state capitol. At night the lights are beautiful
The crab cake was outstanding, our waitress was almost too knowledgable.
We had a wonderful time here celebrating our anniversary. The service, food, ambience, and location was top notch.
Great steaks! Sides are pricey but when going to a restaurant such as this, you shouldn’t expect the prices to be low. Management, bartender, and support wait staff were attentive and provided excellent service. Only issue with our waiter was that he forgot to bring us our glass of wine and when we reminded him, he had forgotten which wine we ordered. Obviously a mistake on his part, but when dining at a restaurant such as this, I expect a high level of customer attentiveness and service.
Wonderful service, wonderful food. Everything tasted fresh and exactly what we were hoping for. It was a lovely evening and we felt extremely safe with COVID precautions taken.
Great, classic midwestern steakhouse. Appetizers and sides are huge! Drinks are strong, atmosphere is younger than expected and that’s perfect.
Appreciate the great hospitality i really enjoyed our time, nice clean and good food left us all full really nice first experience.
The service, drinks and food were great. I appreciated the covid precautions!
Everything was fantastic! I will be back!
Amazing waitress! Even better service overall. Food worth high price.
This is the best steakhouse I have ever been too, the food was absolutely delicious. We were a table of four and everything that everyone ordered was spectacular. Our server was wonderful, he was helpful, patient and very knowledgeable about the menu.
Very romantic place for Valentine’s Day
Great ambiance and great steaks!
I was disappointed that we had to wait for 30 minutes for our table when I had made a reservation for 7:30 almost a month ago. Also a booth was not available. but in the end we had a very nice table in the library with good service, excellent food and a wonderful ambience. For a 91st birthday celebration it was a success. thanks.
