Rare Steakhouse Ratings and Reviews
This was a first visit to Rare Steakhouse, and we will definitely be returning. Once a year, my wife and I go out for a very nice dinner, and I surprised her by choosing a location we had not yet tried. Our server Tom, was attentive, knowledgeable, and courteous. The food was outstanding, and priced comparably with other local steakhouses. The interior was absolutely beautiful... my wife commented a number of times as we ate how wonderful the ambiance and interior were. The one minor downside (and quite minor) was a group of guests sitting near us who were, in our opinion, a bit too loud and rowdy for the restaurant. We otherwise were very impressed.
My husband and I had a “total dining experience” during our first visit to Rare Steakhouse. The service was exceptional despite a very busy Valentine’s Day dinner rush. The food and wine were great. We enjoyed it all immensely. Thank you for a memorable dinner!
This was a Valentine treat for my wife. We’d been to Rare many times and it has always been quite good. But one shouldn’t go there on special occasions. The staff was clearly overmatched by the volume of guests. It took more than 25 minutes after ordering to get a simple wedge salad. Then, it arrived without my wife’s appetizer, which took another ten minutes for the kitchen to scare up. Forty-five minutes after salad and appetizers, steaks arrived. The food was so salty we couldn’t eat it. They comped one meal in acknowledgement of the issues. Another 35 minutes after clearing the uneaten steak, a small piece of cake appeared. It was fine. My wife and I enjoyed visiting, and the Jordan wine was excellent. But we were amazed that we got to Rare at 6:30 and left at 9:45. Really bad experience.
Go there for birthdays or anniversaries. But stay away on broader holidays.
I had the best steak (i had 8oz filet) I’ve ever had in my entire life. My husbands had Lobster and it was huge and delicious. The baked potato was enough for two people for sure. We didn’t like the Broccoli so I wouldn’t recommend that. Service was exceptional. It was probably one of the prettiest atmosphere is for restaurant that I’ve ever been. Super romantic. Highly recommended.
I was disappointed with the food. The bread was burnt at the bottom. We asked for another batch hoping that the new batch wouldn’t be burnt, it was burnt as well. I’m shocked they served the burnt bread, esp. at a fancy restaurant. The chopped salad had too much sea salt on it. I never had a salad that was so salty. Let’s not talk about the steak, not sure what they had on top but it was way too salty. We had to scrape it off the steak. I left disappointed since it was my bday dinner. Plus, I was so thirsty with all the salt on my food. Not sure if it was just a bad night since we’ve eaten here before and the food was way better. Maybe the main chef was sick??
Everything about the service and food were top notch and exceeding expectations. Some of the best food we’ve ever had. If there was anything that was less than enjoyable was the noise level in the bar. Something was going on in he bar and the noise level made it difficult to hear and have a conversation at times. Didn’t ruin the dinner but didn’t help with the idea of a romantic dinner.
Restaurant Week so selection was minimal but very good. Waiter was nice but not overly friendly. Seemed to just be going through the motions. Did not explain in detail the menu or how it worked, but heard him go through a complete explanation of the menu to the table next to us (without the couple asking). We’ve done Restaurant Week before so realize there are no substitutions but my wife asked for one and was told she couldn’t. Most waiters will ask whether there is a food allergy or intolerance (which my wife has) and accommodate. Didn’t even ask. Otherwise a very nice dinner.
Went for restaurant week. Menu offing was great. Red wine list is wonderful! Service and food was fabulous!!! Restaurant week price point was good. Everyday prices on the menu are way too expensive. Menu prices seem to be geared toward people on large expense accounts.
Our meal captain, Owen, was very personable yet professional. He had a clear understanding of the wine selections and offered us tastes of three pinto's which he was able to describe with accuracy. We had unknowingly made reservations during "Restaurant Week" which limited our selections, but couldn't have imagined better tasting selections.
Went to Rare twice this week and both times everything was exceptional. Their steaks are of the highest quality, their seafood is fresh, and they have some of the best duck fat frites I've ever had. All of the staff are professional, well trained and friendly. They have a well-rounded wine list with good quality wines at various price ranges.
Great service & linens. Library room is lovely. However, no popovers for day 1 of Rest Wk - - disappointment, & told to return for them later in the week! Food good, but not great. Potatoes & broccolini delish. Scallops came without a veggie. Key lime pie had no zip. If we go again, it will be to try lunch.
So I felt as it other tables were getting far more attention than ours. The wait times for getting a desert menu when asked told we wanted one was almost 30 minutes. While when we asked for our check it came immediately felt as if they wants to clear our space for new customers.
Otherwise the food was exceptional and that night was not busy.
The entire experience of Rare was incredible. From the moment we walked in the door, it was all about service - excellent service at that. I was very glad to find that Rare is not an establishment which needs to add too many tales, too close together. They had a warm atmosphere, even on a cold winter night. Though some of the patrons at Rare were formally dressed, I was not. The staff did not make me feel out of place at all, due to my attire. I feel the staff made everyone feel welcome.
Going right to our table, we had a better chance to take in more of the details of Rare. We found the view of the capital to be very romantic.
Our serving team was warmly formal, providing insight into various food paring options, as well as explaining details about the meat courses (wet vs. dry aged). As the meal started arriving, each course seemed to build on the tastes of the previous. All in an amazing crescendo of our main course. It was refreshing that the serving team did not mention the term "doggie bag" in regards to portions of our meal we were to be taking with us.
