What a wonderful meal and a nice quiet place to catch up with some good friends.
We had family in from out of the country and were excited to take them for a nice dinner on their last night in the U.S. Service was awful. Our appetizers (stuffed mushrooms and onion rings) took 35+ minutes. The stuffed mushrooms tasted like they were stuffed with a cheap frozen spinach dip...gross. The soup was cold as well as the kids macaroni and cheese. I personally ate practically nothing and am very disappointed. I could keep going with the issues we had but don’t think it’s necessary. To sum up: $300+ for a dinner with bad service and bad food is unacceptable. Also someone might want to clean the filthy vents in the ceiling in the dining room.
Hosted a 40th Birthday dinner for my wife and a group of 10 friends. They had a private room which was fantastic for our get together. We were able to be alone and have a great time without worrying about our noise level or the tables around us. The service was spectacular and a great time was had by all!
Always a delicious meal. I go there for the price fixed menu. My wife and i were celebrating our wedding anniversary.
Tracy was wonderful and Randy was so kind to come out and visit with us. Everything was over-the-top wonderful. Thank you for blessings wife and me.
I stumbled upon this place about 3 years ago by accident. Best ribeye steak I’ve ever eaten! I highly recommend it still! The food is excellent, the staff is knowledgeable, and Randy comes around himself to make sure you’re enjoying your meal. I can’t say enough about this place, check it out for yourself!
The whole experience was horrible. Starting with the fact that there was no hostess (had to hunt down a server after waiting for 10 mins. Took hostess another 5 to come to the front). Then went to the bar where we waiting for another 5-10 minutes, and no bar tender showed up. Took almost 40 minutes to sit even though we had a reservation.
Service was extremely slow, however our server was really friendly. Table next to us had been there for an hour and 45 mins before food was served, our table of 4 took about an hour. Steak was served very rare (I ordered medium).
Sad to write this review, as we’ve been here before and enjoyed it.
The family enjoyed a wonderful Mother's Day lunch at Randy's. There were six of us in the party and everyone enjoyed their meal. Everything from the hot bread, appetizers and main courses were great. My wife's favorite is the Beef Tournedos. Two of the guys ordered the pork chop which is served in a bourbon peach sauce. I sampled a bit and it is fantastic! The New York Steak is my favorite but I have had almost every steak on the menu and there is not a bad choice. Fantastic service, wonderful atmosphere and a great location in downtown Frisco.
Wonderful Mother’s Day lunch. Appetizers were great. Steaks and sides were excellent. Just wonderful!
Nearly flawless visit at Randy's, the waitress was phenomenal, all the food was prepared perfectly, and Randy came by to check on us multiple times.
Excelente sevice Randy is very friendly and professional taking care in person customers
I'll go to Ruth's Chris next time where I've had a much better food and experience for about the same price.
First visit. Wanted to make a good impression on a first date. The food was excellent. The service-not so much. We were told the dinner would be ready in 10-15 minutes. 45 minutes later it arrived. The wine we ordered to be served with the meal arrived 5 min after that, AFTER I had walked to the lounge and ordered and paid for 2 glasses so we could begin our meal. But the main issue was my date was given a plate that she felt was dirty and asked for another. He reached into his pocket and pulled out a cloth and proceeded to wipe her plate off. Never seen anything like it. The people at the table next to us were also complaining about the service, or lack of it. The restaurant was busy, but not overwhelmingly so. Given this experience, I would give it another chance. If the same result occured I would not be back.
I have waited a week to write this review, to consider what I wanted to say. This was a birthday dinner for 2. On entering, we were greeted with a cheery Happy Birthday, and we really liked the atmosphere in the restaurant. Our waiter, Jacob was friendly, informative about the menu and very attentive. Onion rings were ordered -- was told they were excellent and the order was quite enough for 2 to share. BUT, the order was HUGE!!!! much too large for 2 people, the rings were very large, and had to use a fork and knife to eat them. Definitely not finger food. When cutting with a knife, all the breading falls off. They tasted really good, but I would not bother with them, because of all the waste (for food and money). Next we had our meal--Filet 8oz for my wife and the Bleu cheese stuffed filet for me. Both were order MEDIUM, they arrived very medium RARE. My wife sent hers back and within 3-4 minutes it was returned, still a bit rare, but better. Eventually, did give the steak knife back to the waiter, and advised that it really needed to be sharpened. The cut on the plain filet was obviously a ragged end cut and not the best. My bleu cheese stuffed filet was so covered with sauce you could not really see how it was cooked. Way too much sauce. Lyonnaise potatoes were okay, but could have been sliced thinner, rather than chunks. The side of asparagus was minimal, 8 very thin spears to share, and not a good value for the money.
Did not have dessert.
Sorry to say that most likely we will never return.
It was great food but nothing I'm going to cry home about, got a good steak and good drinks but not worth the price. I'm going to go to salt grass twice for the price I spent at Randy's. Will go back one day, hopefully I'll remember to order the prime rib.
I have been going to Randy’s for 15+ years. This is the first time that I have been less than completely satisfied. Bar service was slow. Our waiter was great and did everything in his power to make our. Igor great including buying our desserts for us. Restaurant wasn’t busy so there really wasn’t an excuse. We will go back because we love Randy’s but they missed the mark this time.
Great food, better service! I loved the ambiance of an old Victorian home converted into a restaurant. Our waiter and bartender were super friendly and exceeded all expectations.
Amazing service. Randy came to our table to greet us. Wenordered jomemade jalapeño poppers that were huge and delicious, made fresh on site. I ordered a filet with blackberry sauce and it was cooked to perfection. Ordered a side of sautéed mushrooms. The entire experience was amazing and worth every penny. Very nice atmosphere & quite cozy as the restaurant is inside an old renovated home. We will definitely be back!
Very cool one-of-a-kind steakhouse in an old house in Old Frisco. The food was excellent and fairly priced. The staff could be a little slow, but some people enjoy that. We would definitely return.
The food was delicious and the chef came out and asked us how our dinner was. We will definitely be back.
My husband and I had a winderful meal, they even created a drink that was just what I love... Very friendly, exceptional staff, Food was fantastic. Love the ambiance of that old home. They were having a Prom night and still our appetizers, drinks and meal were all right on time.
Betsy was our server, she was fantastic! Really get a kick our of Randy the owner, he came by to visit our table. Wonderful evening! We even enjoyed watching the prom kids coming in and out....Great Night!
Great as usual. Food was very good.
Food as usual was great, service was very slow! Had 2 different waiters/waitresses.
The restaurant is in an old house (late 1800's) that has been added on to. Our servers, Nico and Jacob, were great, attentive and personable. The menu had a lot of interesting appetizer options, but we only tried the crispy pork belly, which was excellent (though not super crispy) - nicely (lightly) seasoned and the mashed sweet potatoes it came with were smooth and creamy. Our steaks were cooked a perfect medium-rare, as ordered. And we had a slice of great, home-made cheesecake for dessert. We will definitely go back to try other appetizers and desserts.
Food quality fair over priced. One steak over cooked & lobster over cooked
My husband and I came here for our anniversary. It was our first visit and we will definitely be back!
The ambiance is so quiet and romantic. It was perfect!
The service was outstanding! Even Randy himself came out to greet us twice.
The food was amazing! We had the stuffed jalepenos, blue cheese stuffed filet, rib eye, sourthen style corn, and asparagus. All of it was delicious!
We will definitely be competing back!
Absolutely loved the half priced filet mignon special at Randy's on Friday night. Even the larger 12 oz was half priced at around $20! What a deal and it was delicious and cooked perfectly. They even catered to our (almost) 2 year old daughter, very family friendly. Keep these specials coming and we'll be back again soon!
Excellent food and service. Has to be the only restaurant where the owner/chef comes out to talk to his customers.
We dined early, 6:15, very quiet, we were seated right away, waiter was very friendly. Randy the owner came out twice to visit and check on our food. We were aware of the special for the day has we checked menu online. There was no mention of the special so we asked about it an received another menu which we ended up ordering from as it had all the items we were going to order off the regular menu. The pork chop was very good and very large, the sides we choose were also very good, au gratin potatoes and creamed spinach.
We went for Easter. The food is amazing. It is an expensive restaurant but the quality is on par with the price. This was our second visit and it won’t be our last
Just ok for an expensive steak
I really enjoyed Randy’s Steakhouse. Randy even stopped by our table to check on us. Great food. Hard to beat the quality of the steaks. Decent wine list as well.
Excellent food and service was amongst the best of any Dallas restaurant. We had a party of 8 tonight and Randy's exceeded our expectations. Well done! Another Frisco gem.
Excellent service. Enjoyed our anniversary celebration
We had a wonderful time dining at Randy's. Our waiter was amazing and went out of his way to ensure our anniversary was special. The food was delicious and even included a free dessert and bottle of wine since it was our anniversary. We will definitely be returning there every year to celebrate.
Steaks were outstanding! Service very attentive. Randy, himself came out to meet all guests. Overall, everything was excellent! Highly recommend.
The food was amazing!
Niko our server was great. He knew the menu and offered his take on the things he liked and what others liked there as well. The cabernet was very nice but the food was average at best. I was really disappointed because I expected much better food. Specifically, my wife got a small filet mignon and is was very tough and burnt. She ordered it to be cooked medium and it was as tough as a sirloin strip with grissle. We both enjoy a good filet on very regular occasions and usually judge a restaurant by this item on the menu. That's what tells us we need to come back or "no way jose". I tried the pork chop and was not impressed. It was more like a roast and hard to manage but was cooked ok and I would probably not order it again. I am not a pork chop expert but again I was not impressed. In all fairness my wife really liked the place but didn't want to say anything because it was our 24th Anniversary. For my money I will put up with a louder crowd for better food at Capital Grille or Bob's Steak and Chop House. Sorry but I couldn't recommend Randy's to anyone I know.
Dined at Randy's for my second time on 3/17. Went for my son's 17th birthday and noted it on the request. Waitress was surprised when son #2 mentioned it during the meal. Waitress was not trained on opening the bottle of wine and it took her quite a while to both bring the bottle and then open it. I ordered surf and turf and my butter came 10+ mins after my order... Lobster was already cold. My date ordered her steak M-Rare. It came raw. My grandfather was a butcher. We've eaten beef since birth. I know beef. M Rare is not Raw! Took 7 mins to bring her steak back. They reheated it and it looked terrible. Could have cooked a new one in 10 mins and not reheated hers. Was told kitchen was busy (excuse). Was also told Randy was on vacation. Maybe that should have stayed a secret. Maybe Randy shouldn't take a vacation and leave cooking to the inexperienced and the service without leadership. We received our sides 5-7 mins after our mains were delivered. It took multiple requests to package up our food to go. Also, ordered 2 Plates of their "special" Key lime pie and was told they were all sold out due to one large party ordering it in another room. We were told they were out of Crème brûlée when we arrived. A restaurant should be better prepared to address their clientele's needs on most nights.
This was my second trip to Randy's in a few years and my last. Very poor experience for $400+ Birthday dinner. Would gladly give my money to another restaurant who wanted me to come back again and again by showing me they offer value for my money.
The food and atmosphere was excellent. I love steak, but I have never has a steak as tender and tasty as the crawfish stuffed filet. Words can't describe the fabulous bread pudding. YUM!
