Such great food! was really impressed that so many of their items are Gluten free or vegan! Makes eating out with food restrictions easier
A phenomenal, cultural experience... fantastic food and service!
We were seated promptly. The server didn't rush us to order and provided good recommendations regarding dish choice and heat level. The food was excellent!
Be prepare to wait a long time for the food Also not enough wait staff. Seems like the restaurant is more geared towards take out. Food is delish, tho. Some inconsistencies
THE CUSTOMER SERVICE WAS ATROCIOUS!!! I am not a fan of Indian food as it is but went to this location for a birthday dinner. Food was better than I expected and the restaurant was pretty nice... With that being said, the service was terrible, wait staff was inattentive, rude and confrontational. Some instances: when we ordered our meal we asked for two orders of naan. When the food came out the naan wasn't brought out. We brought that up when the server came back to check on us ¾ of the way through our meal, as well to mention that no vegetables were given with one of the orders. A male employee (server we're guessing) approached the table with a dish of vegetables and stated he had vegetables for us, we told him it was for the gentleman on the end and he proceeded to put the dish down on the opposite side of the table and walk away.
The same male server came back with our female server (after we again stated we hadn't received the naan we ordered) and he stated "I looked at your order and you never placed an order for naan, are you sure you ordered it?". Following that we told them not to worry about it as we were already complete with our meal.
When we asked for boxes to takeout, it was obviously an inconvenience. They will clear your dishes like you aren't sitting there anymore and will not bring you refills. I implore you to not waste your time or money dining at this establishment. Like I said the food turned out to be pretty good, but I will not recommend this restaurant!
*The female server DID in fact come back to the table less than 2 minutes after approaching with the male server and stated she was sorry she had written down naan, but didn't ring it in. The male server never came back to say anything. I've waited tables for years and if someone asked for bread (naan) or anything else, I rang it in and brought it out, regardless if they asked when ordering.*
Best food I have ever eaten in Hampton Roads. Service is excellent also.
I ordered the Chilly Paneer appetizer at the suggestion of the hostess. It was out of this world delicious! Everyone enjoyed their entrees. The kitchen got the level of heat/spice right on every dish. The servings are generous. Enough for a second meal, for certain. I have been a Curry Club member since they opened. Their new billing system has some conflict with the club records.
The food at Rajput is wonderful and the portions are generous, however, the spiciness of the entrees varies from visit to visit; i.e., the degree of heat in "medium" at one visit might be "mild" at the next. At this visit, we felt forgotten after our appetizers. There must have been a 20-30 minute delay between delivery of the appetizers and the server's return to the table to take our main order.
I had a reservation and still had to wait 20 mintues for a table which was disappointing.
BUT LET ME TELL YOU.....the food did NOT disappoint! OMG sooo delicious. I've had other local Indian restaurant food and They by far exceed them in taste. (yummmmm) So although my wait was not to my liking the food was AMAZING and the waitress was very nice. Try them out!
Love the food, great selection if Indian food. The madras is excellent.
We recently moved to the area and sadly had to leave behind an Indian/Nepalese restaurant that we utterly adored and were regulars of. Rajput was our first Indian restaurant in the new area and while nothing can beat our first love, it was a good second place and we left happier than expected. The servings were large, the prices were moderate, the taste was delicious, and the service was attentive and kind. We will be taking family here soon and it will probably be our new go to for when we need a samosa and curry fix.
There were very few dine-in patrons on a mid-weekday night. Service was attentive. Quality of the food was excellent as usual. Rajput has increased the heat they put into their curries. A couple years ago, the medium-hot was more like mild-to-medium. Now, even the medium hot has a lot of heat to it.
Everything was good. They stopped doing the Curry club, which was disappointing.
This was my first time here and it was my girlfriend birthday, the food was horrible and cold and I will not be back!!!
Poor service: even getting wter on the table was a wait-and-see affair. One appetizer never arrived and the entrees came out in spurts so some members of our party sat and waited while their food cooled so others could get their meals. Food quality varried. Some was quite good while some was mediocre... this restaurant seems to think that serving most things flambé will cover all faults. Not recommended.
We had the most delicious madras dish ever! It was so tasty that my husband who doesn't usually like Indian food that much even liked it. The Garlic nan was very good as well. We will be coming back!
Always appreciate the waiters recommendations and they were spot on once again.
My husband and I came for Restaurant Week and the food was AMAZING! We enjoyed every dish, especially our appetizers. Our server Raj was friendly, knowledgeable about the food, and took great care of us. We really enjoyed everything about our dining experience and can't wait to go back!
Food is great and service attentive! We love having this gem nearby!
We were greeted most cordially by the host and owner who introduced himself and guided us to our seats as soon as we entered. Our waiter also greeted us promptly, providing menus and ice water immediately. The menu at Rajput Suffolk is very straightforward and the options must be in the hundreds as one can choose from about a dozen different proteins and almost two dozen sauces, not to mention the many appetizers, breads and special selections. The wine list is not extensive but offers an excellent variety of options. We left Rajput very satisfied with our dinner and several tins of unfinished appetizers and entrees to enjoy later. I wish that Rajput would add a new location in downtown Suffolk where many others who don't want to drive to Harbor View might experience their culinary expertise. Check out their "Curry Club" where you can accumulate points for gift certificates and a Cooking Class!
We entered the restaurant to confusion over the reservation. Once seated, we were greeted by the nicest man that introduced himself as the bartender and brought water in a tin jar. Nice start, but ended there. A man then stopped by and asked if we wanted to order, told him we were waiting on a third person. Five minutes later we decided to order an appitizer so we flagged him down and told him what we wanted. He ran off to look for his tablet. Once he returned, we told him again what we wanted, blank look! We tried again, same look! We pointed to the menu, he grabbed the menu out of our hand and copied it to his tablet. I watched him take it to the system to order it. No luck, so he told a girl and no luck. So he grabbed a menu and showed her. After that another girl waited on use and was barely better. Order naan with dinner and it showed up as we finished eating.
However, the food was fantastic. IF you have patience for bad service, go! Next time I will try the other location in Norfolk.
