Zucca, an “artisan” Italian restaurant, located in the west end of Edinburgh’s theatre district, is a firm favourite with the pre-theatre crowds, tourists and locals alike, looking for great food without too much fuss and formality.

Ideally situated in between the Royal Lyceum, the Usher hall and the Travers theatre, it aims to offer elegant but simple food, using fine Italian and Scottish produce, reflecting both seasonality and the chefs’ creativity, maintaining a Mediterranean theme throughout.

The food is complimented by an unpretentious selection of good wines, moderately priced; highlighting the best style each Italian region has to offer.

We eat at Zucca because we come to the theatre (from Glasgow) and we need somewhere reliable and convenient to eat. The carpaccio is great but the tables for two are a bit are small. However, we will come back.

Not as busy as expected on New Year's Eve but we did eat early! Lots of choice for coeliac diners and very accommodating over vegan options - even happy to provide something not on the actual menu.

We enjoyed the meal, especially the sharing plater. Staff were efficient and friendly. Being there on Hogmannay they were quite busy and the place had a buzz about it.

We always enjoy a visit to Zucca, tho it's best to avoid theatre matinee days, when it can get very hectic. The food is good, service pleasant and helpful and it is particular good value with the Groupon voucher. The Affogato is the best.

Nice place close to the Lyceum and the usher hall. Food was tasty but small portions. Price was ok for Edinburgh. Very convenient for theatres.
