The service was AWFUL!!!! We waited for a server, then for drinks, then for our server again, and again, and again. Our server was the only one in our area taking care of numerous tables, however there were other staff members all over the place not doing anything!!!! We were there almost 90 min. Over half of that was waiting for something/someone! Not the experience we were hoping for on the Plaza. Very disappointing.
The resturant was dirty. There was food all over the floor. Lots of tables that had not been cleared. Our server was rude and seemed to not want to wait on us. The food was just ok so fortunately it wasn't expensive. I would not recommend and will not return.
Great ‘modern Mexican’ food! Very nice atmosphere.
Great brunch. Thanks
Exceptionally good food and drinks. Service a bit slow understandably as the place was packed - it was worth the wait!
Arrived at 6:10 for a party of 4. Full house but only 1 group ahead of us. Watched 2 groups of 4 arrive after us and get sat. Then tried to sit us at a small high top for 2. As we were finally being sat around 6:40 the manager (I think) tried to get the hostess to sit someone that had been there 20 minutes less. Hostess still sat us. We sat at our table for 15 minutes until a server came up. Told us we weren’t his table but he will grab our waiter. Watched this server go tell the other server and point to us. It appeared the server for our table was very interested in the bachelorette party. 10 minutes later the original gent came with water. He apologized again and said he was just going to take over. Tony was great and did his best but had little support. About 15 minutes after we ordered our first drinks Tony came back and said the bartender stated they were out of one of their signature drinks. We received our first drinks at 7:30 after food arrived. They said there was only 1 bartender for some reason. We ordered 2 appetizers but only 1 came out. Food arrives about the same time as our first drinks and half the appetizers. Half the food was cool at best. Flavor was not good as 1 person thought their food was cooked properly. She did love her Nashville chicken tacos though.
Tony was very apologetic for the entire evening and tried to take care of us. His service was a bright spot in one of our worst restaurant experiences. It is worth noting we have been to Zocalo a few times and never experienced this. First time we went was actually the first night of the server who ignored us. He did great that time. Food has been better in the past.
I doubt we will make the drive from south OP to the plaza for Zocalo again. It appeared a serious lack of caring from majority of what appeared to be management.
I do want to stress Tony (Antonio) did an excellent job with the tools he was given. If he had not helped us when he did we were ready to leave. Thanks Tony!
Steak in tacos was too tough to eat
I love it! It took a minute to get the bill. Other than that, it was wonderful.
Was our first time here with friends. We had a great experience the waitress was very helpful and knowledgeable, the food was great ! Can’t wait to go back!
Before leaving looked at OpenTable to see if we should make a reservations, but there was openings for the next hour, so we arrive (live down the street from restaurant & walked over) without a reservation. We were told it would be 45 minutes (although you could see plenty of tables), so we walked outside & made the reservation and walked back in & was immediately seated. Then after a few minutes (this wasn't a long time) our waitress walked over with water. Then she came back to take our order, after this point we would not see her again at our table (she was around though-numerous times at the other tables) for at least a 1/2 hour. We never did not received our chips & salsa that we ordered, the person that brought our food asked if we still wanted it and we said no, prior to noticing that my friends food was not what she ordered, this would take at least another 1/2 hour to get the correct food. Unfortunately we had told them not to bring the chips or at least she would have had something to eat. I initially waited to eat, but notice that I would need to start eating, so I shared some of my food with her. About 15 minutes after I had my food, our waitress finally came over to say that it was almost ready, but the kitchen has been slammed (by this point it was 8:30pm and wasn't 'slammed') but I actually think she forgot to put in the corrected food to the kitchen. She asks if we need anything, as we have NO water & haven't in quite a while, since she hasn't been back since taking our order, so I ask for water. So at least 30 minutes later her food arrives and we are again out of water & she asks if we need anything- REALLY? YES, WE NEED WATER! Do servers not know that water is something you keep filled? Then she says I will try to get your food for 1/2 price due to the inconvenience, well I guess that is something, but should probably be FREE! I will not be back. Food was okay, but service was ATROCIOUS!
Went for my moms birthday and had a great time. Food was awesome and all their sauces were amazing!
This was my first time eating at Zocalo and it was a great Father's Day brunch. I'm looking forward to going back and trying some other foods.
Dinner was good and customer service was great. We enjoyed it!
Made Reservations at 9. Didn’t get food until like 10pm and they ran out of queso FOOD WAS STILL GOOD !
Slow to greet us at the table once we were sat so service a bit slow-seemed a bit understaffed like many restaurants are lately. Once Spencer got to us he was great!! Food was awesome! I had the seafood enchiladas after reading reviews online & it did not disappoint. They were FANTASTIC! Not your typical Mexican entree - much, much better! My husband had the Taco Trio & said it was excellent & my son had the pork carnitas tacos. All was great! We will definitely be returning!
Sunday evening. Front Pation. Our waiter was soft-spoken but communicated clearly, and was attentive to us. Only minus was the bar patrons were loud and crass.
Good food. Made a drink that I requested that wasn’t on the drink menu
Love their innovative cuisine. We would have given it an outstanding rating except they are clearly stretched for staff like so many are and could not get tables cleared and dishes cleaned to keep up. Food and server was great.
Not impressed at all. Service was poor, food was ok
It was nice to get out. They were a bit slow in their service and it seemed a but sparse in their servings but the quality was good.
Great service. Hospitable towards switching tables and trying different drinks without buying bottomless.
Amazing service by Amanda. Great food. Wonderful signature Margarita.
Waited 15 mins past our reservation time to be seated only to then be told by our server that the kitchen was so backed up we were unable to put in a food order.... at all. We asked if we could have an appetizer and we were told they could only do chips and salsa at the time and that the kitchen could not accept any more orders of any kind. Needless to say we left- considering we made a reservation to eat DINNER...
That was the worst food I have ever had. It’s a shame. Food was overcooked. Best thing they served was the glass of water.
Terrible service. 20+ minutes to get drinks. Server rarely checked on us and could’ve cared less that drinks were taking so long. He had a terrible attitude. Food was bland. Bathrooms were filthy.
Queso dip was ok. Wife and I both got an order of fajitas which were TERRIBLE. Meat was super dry and chewy, as were the tortillas. Service was awful. Took forever to be helped, and never got drinks refilled.
Reservation at 8pm. My friend arrived at 8:05, I arrived around 8:15. It took about a half hour to order drinks, and another half hour to order appetizers. By the time our server came back again, we wanted to order entrees and were informed that the kitchen had already closed but we could go to Granfalloon to get food (???). Zócalo has been my local watering hole for years now, but the service has tanked. If your kitchen closes at 9, please tell your patrons. Our server was nice enough to give me my last drink on the house, but this doesn’t make up for how hangry we were.
Received wrong marg hut tasted good anyway staff was seated behind us and were swearing loudly i wouldnt havw minded if i wasnt with my mom.
Food and service were great!
Service was apathetic. Food was mediocre at best.
Seating was not where requested..Waiter was a little slow and took his time coming to our table. Didn’t offer drink menu so therefore, wasn’t aware of them even serving beer. Good food though
Super delicious food and drinks! The ambiance was great for a fun brunch with friends. Our server seemed a little frazzled and overwhelmed. There was some problems with our order and drinks but the manager and other servers stepped in to help.
Food was great. The restaurant needs some deep cleaning.
Food was good, but service was slow and spotty. Had to ask repeatedly for appetizer plates, flatware, etc. Margarita's were delicious. We would come again, just not on the weekend.
Service a big problem, hosted did not tell staff of our table, waiter was nice enough but overwhelm, drinks and food took a long time to receive. Had to get our meal to go. Sat down @ 6:30, left with food to go @8pm. Service poor, but our doors was delicious after we got home.
Our server was terrible, never introduced herself, very slow with service. Waited 20 min for refill on water and mimosas. Paid for bottomless mimosas was there for over two hours and only served two drinks which were mostly orange juice. When I complained to the manager his response was “it has been difficult to find quality staff”. Very unfortunate this happened.
Our server, Spencer, was wonderful and was attentive but gave us space. Didn’t feel pressured to order or leave. Food is always amazing! Portions are huge! I feel like the drinks could have been a bit stronger but still tasted great :) we love coming to Zocalo.
It is over all food wise was decent. Really loud. Service was very slow.
I chose to try Zocalo because they provided a wide variety of gluten free options. I tried the salsa trio and I loved the freshly made tortilla chips. I had the seafood enchiladas as an entrée and they were delicious. I will definitely be back. I
