The food is the best Mexican food I have ever eaten. It is so light and healthy and delicious!!!
We had a pleasant evening. Food was excellent.
Everyone seemed to like it, but my enchilada trio dish was genuinely bad. I couldn’t eat it. However, the potato side, queso, and salsa were all great. Drinks were heavy mixer and forgettable. For the record — this is the only Mexican food I’ve ever not liked.
Terrible dining experience! It took 45 minutes to get our drinks and and an hour for our Queso Fundido appetizer which had good flavor but was very watery. We had no napkins or silverware. I tried the empanadas which had a terrible raw onion flavor and only ate two bites. Our waiter snatched up the near full plate and never said a word about why the food was not eaten. I tried to special order margaritas but they were out of all of the most popular tequilas. The El Jeffe margaritas were very good and I ordered a Tequila flight of Patron with sangrita which made the evening seem better. I have eaten at Zocalos for many years and had been pleased but this experience was very bad!
wedding weekend dinner!
I have been to brunch at Zocalo twice in a month and this last experience wasn’t the best. Mimosas were room temperature at best, potatoes in the breakfast burrito weren’t cook throughly and the service was subpar. When I visited on 8/22, I had a much better experience.
First time eating there and the food overall was very good.
HORRIBLE service. The food was good, but only after another waitress brought us our food. Our appetizer came after our meal. When we tried to pay, our waitress ignored us for 20 minutes until she asked another waitress to get our bill. Will never go back again & do not recommend.
Service was super slow. My frozen margarita wasn’t frozen - asked for a new one , came out the same , then they still charged me for both . Another drink we ordered never came until way into the meal . The waitress was trying but not to professional - complaining about what they did and didn’t have- then apologized way over kill . It appeared she wasn’t focused or attentive to nothing we were requesting . I know these are tough times for getting good help- but every aspect of this restaurant has went down hill fast .
Food great. Service was awful. Server was unpleasant.
Food and server were great… but clearly short staffed and ran out of clean plates and silverware. Will definitely head back again to take another shot despite the hiccups.
The service was horrible. Hair ( lots of it) came with our chips when I pointed it nothing was done. The waitress forgot to get our order and confused why our meal hadn’t shown up. Also she was the most unfriendly it felt like we were inconveniencing her.
Food was amazing. Service not great. The food took forever to come even though the restaurant wasn’t at max capacity. The appetizer came with the entrees as well.
Our server was awesome, but the food didn't quite seem worth the money.
Price point is good. Their margaritas and choice in Tequilla is great. However the food was good, but unfortunately I won't return
Save your money. The food was not authentic, mediocre to say the least. And the service was horrible. I lost count of how many times I had to flag down our waiter. When he did show up he’d move a snail speed. Had to wait 10 minutes for a spoon. C’mon!!
The restaurant wasn’t clean either. So much trash and food on the floor. The sidewalk outside looked cleaner than the restaurant floor. Not would you would expect from a restaurant on the Plaza. Definitely would not return or recommend.
Our waitress, Megan, was amazing in the bar/high top seating that morning. She was a joy to have!
This is one of my favorite restaurants but the service is so slow and the staff sit around at the bar talking to each other rather than getting food and drinks to tables quickly… instead of an hour brunch it always takes 2 - 2.5 hours. Food and drinks are always good though
Everything from food to service was awesome! Love the terrorized carrots and everything else we had including the sangria!
Our server, Marsalis was outstanding.
it was fine not the best food was just okay and our server was weird and awkward and seemed like she didn’t know how to go her job
The service was AWFUL!!!! We waited for a server, then for drinks, then for our server again, and again, and again. Our server was the only one in our area taking care of numerous tables, however there were other staff members all over the place not doing anything!!!! We were there almost 90 min. Over half of that was waiting for something/someone! Not the experience we were hoping for on the Plaza. Very disappointing.
The resturant was dirty. There was food all over the floor. Lots of tables that had not been cleared. Our server was rude and seemed to not want to wait on us. The food was just ok so fortunately it wasn't expensive. I would not recommend and will not return.
Great ‘modern Mexican’ food! Very nice atmosphere.
Great brunch. Thanks
Exceptionally good food and drinks. Service a bit slow understandably as the place was packed - it was worth the wait!
Arrived at 6:10 for a party of 4. Full house but only 1 group ahead of us. Watched 2 groups of 4 arrive after us and get sat. Then tried to sit us at a small high top for 2. As we were finally being sat around 6:40 the manager (I think) tried to get the hostess to sit someone that had been there 20 minutes less. Hostess still sat us. We sat at our table for 15 minutes until a server came up. Told us we weren’t his table but he will grab our waiter. Watched this server go tell the other server and point to us. It appeared the server for our table was very interested in the bachelorette party. 10 minutes later the original gent came with water. He apologized again and said he was just going to take over. Tony was great and did his best but had little support. About 15 minutes after we ordered our first drinks Tony came back and said the bartender stated they were out of one of their signature drinks. We received our first drinks at 7:30 after food arrived. They said there was only 1 bartender for some reason. We ordered 2 appetizers but only 1 came out. Food arrives about the same time as our first drinks and half the appetizers. Half the food was cool at best. Flavor was not good as 1 person thought their food was cooked properly. She did love her Nashville chicken tacos though.
Tony was very apologetic for the entire evening and tried to take care of us. His service was a bright spot in one of our worst restaurant experiences. It is worth noting we have been to Zocalo a few times and never experienced this. First time we went was actually the first night of the server who ignored us. He did great that time. Food has been better in the past.
I doubt we will make the drive from south OP to the plaza for Zocalo again. It appeared a serious lack of caring from majority of what appeared to be management.
I do want to stress Tony (Antonio) did an excellent job with the tools he was given. If he had not helped us when he did we were ready to leave. Thanks Tony!
Steak in tacos was too tough to eat
I love it! It took a minute to get the bill. Other than that, it was wonderful.
Was our first time here with friends. We had a great experience the waitress was very helpful and knowledgeable, the food was great ! Can’t wait to go back!
Before leaving looked at OpenTable to see if we should make a reservations, but there was openings for the next hour, so we arrive (live down the street from restaurant & walked over) without a reservation. We were told it would be 45 minutes (although you could see plenty of tables), so we walked outside & made the reservation and walked back in & was immediately seated. Then after a few minutes (this wasn't a long time) our waitress walked over with water. Then she came back to take our order, after this point we would not see her again at our table (she was around though-numerous times at the other tables) for at least a 1/2 hour. We never did not received our chips & salsa that we ordered, the person that brought our food asked if we still wanted it and we said no, prior to noticing that my friends food was not what she ordered, this would take at least another 1/2 hour to get the correct food. Unfortunately we had told them not to bring the chips or at least she would have had something to eat. I initially waited to eat, but notice that I would need to start eating, so I shared some of my food with her. About 15 minutes after I had my food, our waitress finally came over to say that it was almost ready, but the kitchen has been slammed (by this point it was 8:30pm and wasn't 'slammed') but I actually think she forgot to put in the corrected food to the kitchen. She asks if we need anything, as we have NO water & haven't in quite a while, since she hasn't been back since taking our order, so I ask for water. So at least 30 minutes later her food arrives and we are again out of water & she asks if we need anything- REALLY? YES, WE NEED WATER! Do servers not know that water is something you keep filled? Then she says I will try to get your food for 1/2 price due to the inconvenience, well I guess that is something, but should probably be FREE! I will not be back. Food was okay, but service was ATROCIOUS!
Went for my moms birthday and had a great time. Food was awesome and all their sauces were amazing!
This was my first time eating at Zocalo and it was a great Father's Day brunch. I'm looking forward to going back and trying some other foods.
Dinner was good and customer service was great. We enjoyed it!
Made Reservations at 9. Didn’t get food until like 10pm and they ran out of queso FOOD WAS STILL GOOD !
Slow to greet us at the table once we were sat so service a bit slow-seemed a bit understaffed like many restaurants are lately. Once Spencer got to us he was great!! Food was awesome! I had the seafood enchiladas after reading reviews online & it did not disappoint. They were FANTASTIC! Not your typical Mexican entree - much, much better! My husband had the Taco Trio & said it was excellent & my son had the pork carnitas tacos. All was great! We will definitely be returning!
Sunday evening. Front Pation. Our waiter was soft-spoken but communicated clearly, and was attentive to us. Only minus was the bar patrons were loud and crass.
Good food. Made a drink that I requested that wasn’t on the drink menu
