Zinqué - Newport
Wonderful experience! Service was perfection!!
Overall great experience. The outdoor seating is great and not too crowded and happy hour specials are awesome! However, our service was a little slow and it seemed like multiple different people were taking order from us which ultimately led to a few mistakes on the bill which I didn’t notice until after I’d already paid.
First time ever eating at the restaurant. A hidden gem along the water. Lots of great wine selections and the food was very good and reasonably priced. We’ll be back for sure. Good service and nice for date night.
They Just had one server and he was so unprofessional and not friendly at all. In their website stated dinner serve up to the closing which was 12:00. But at 9:30 server rushed us to place orders as the kitchen were about to close. We arrived at 9:00.
He was so vague and not willing to assist us in ordering food as it was our first time.
It was my friend's birthday and they did not even bother to sing a happy birthday to her.
The service was terrible, nothing was on the table. Wrong food was ordered and the server refused to change them as he said the kitchen was closed. After serving the food I had to go inside twice as no-one came to ask us if we needed anything which we did.
I complained to the manager. At first he didn't show us a better attitude than the server. But by the end, he was attentive and much nicer to us. Initially, we asked to have a separate bill but the server put everyone's in one check. It was so frustrating to calculate and I ended up paying $12.00 more. The server charged us for a drink that they did not have and we were not able to get our money back as they closed the cash register. The manager offered us 2 deserts instead.
So it was a disaster. We wouldn't recommend it at all.
This was our 3rd time to Zinque, first 2 times were excellent. It was my husband's birthday and they were going to charge $20 for a cake fee to bring in a cake so I decided we'd order one of the "cakes" off the menu because that was ridiculous. Turns out they only had 2 fruit tartes available...nothing chocolate and none of the normal desserts on the menu. I was not a happy camper.
The food was just ok....burger patty smaller and overdone compared to first 2 times. One of our friends was not at all happy with the cauliflower. Brussels with balsamic very good.
Our Server was wonderful.
This was my second time at Zinque. I love the food and the ambience but the service both times have been mediocre. Members in our party (both times) have had to send coffee cups or glasses back to be washed. Additionally, the service isn’t too good. The wait staff do not come around and check on your food, etc. I love the brunch menu and will try it one more time.
I had high hopes but was disappointed. The server was horrendously awkward and spoke to us like we didn't belong there. I had to ask for silverware and napkins 3 times AFTER we got our appetizer and entree! Sit and stared at our food getting cold for 10 minutes. Won't be going back.
Great food great view service good we enjoy this restaurant very much experience also good love their breakfast
The service was horrible. We were there for 2 hrs and he came twice. 2 other times we needed sauces but could not find him. So we asked another waiter and the host if they can get it for us or get us our waiter but no one did anything. We ended up waiting 40 min for our waiter to come back to ask him for the sauces all over again while our food is cold now. The food was ok... nothing memorable but not bad neither. Most like we won’t be coming back as there are many other restaurants right next door.
Great first time experience at this Zinqué location. Food is usually on point except this time one of our flat breads came out cold. The waitress quickly told us she would bring out another one. Friendly attentive service! Will definitely be returning!
Family lunch. Went thinking of a French restaurant. Ended up choosing a hamburgués after
Food was great, service was poor and had to ask multiple times to order food, drink and have water refilled.
Excellent food, great service and a beautiful location.
Server was very nice but the restaurant wasn’t too busy and had to ask for a napkin and flatware several times, in fact, even when our food was served the server didn’t notice we didn’t have any flatware and we had to ask again, our water bottle was never refilled and sat empty for an hour, servers came up few times and never asked about water refill until the end of our lunch when I asked. I do understand restaurants trying to prevent waste but I still think the server could’ve asked.
Great place on waterfront to watch ships, paddlers and people walk or sail by.
Food and service were fantastic!
Fresh squeezed orange juice from the Farmers market was outstanding
Unique and healthy plates......we will return
the ambiente is amazing
heaters available too
service is excellent
i’ll go again
We went for a birthday and the food and drinks were great. Right on the marina if you’re sitting outside, but they have heaters. Food was top notch. Definitely recommend the deviled eggs!
Great brunch menu items.
Zinque was a great place to celebrate my birthday! The staff was attentive and sweet and the food was amazing! I mean who wouldn't enjoy dinner overlooking the harbor. Highly recommend!
The service level was dismal. We waited for close to 30 minutes for someone to come by with water and take our drink orders and only after we informed the hostess. All the while, we observed other tables that were seated after us got serviced soon after they sat down. I guess we were seated at the "forgotten" table. The wait to get our check was nearly as long. I have dined at other Zinque locations in Venice and WeHo and the waitstaff that brought us water jokingly stated that we were at the best one. Perhaps for the location, but certainly not for service.
Just seemed rather crowded with the pandemic going on right now. Food was yummy but slightly overpriced.
We love this place.
We’ve been coming to Zinqué for a while now, practically since it’s opening and we’ve had pleasant experiences in the past. This time, for my wife’s birthday we decided to book reservations at Zinqué in hopes of a pleasurable experience.
Sadly, we were disappointed.
The only bright spot was the quality of the food we ordered, which never disappoints... the rest of the limited menu did however.
We were really looking forward to the cocktails that we’ve enjoyed in the past but we were told that the cocktails were changed to a “wine and beer based” option instead. When we asked the waitress the reason for the change she just smiled and ignored our question. When we DID decide on a wine based cocktail the waitress was nowhere to be found for a good 12 minutes.
We know that COVID has changed the restaurant business temporarily but when we have to walk down to another restaurant to grab cocktails and appetizers to bring back to the table, (on more than several occasions) sadly, we won’t be back until things are back to “normal”.
Zinque is a great , casual spot !
Zinque is one of my favorite spots to go for a mellow dinner and bottle of wine. Usually an outstanding experience. Unfortunately I went for dinner Sunday and we were going to be seated outside on the makeshift dining area (the tables OUTSIDE of the outside dining patio pretty much on the public walkway) which was no problem at all because they have patio heaters. My dinner guest did not have a mask and let the hostess know after she asked, and told the hostess she would walk outside the dining area on the public walkway to our table to avoid entering the restaurants space. The hostess was unbelievably rude and felt it was her place to tell her it was disrespectful to not wear a wear a mask walking to the table via public walkway..She again pointed out she did not have one and would take the same public walkway and not enter the restaurant to walk to our table which was the very last outside edge table before circle hook. If she had needed to enter part of the restaurants actual outdoor dining area I would understand needing the mask to adhere to guidelines. However that was not the case at all. It was disrespectful and embarrassing to be reprimanded like that by a restaurant staff member. Also extremely unprofessional to project her own opinions onto customers. Following that we were still ready to sit down and enjoy a nice evening. the patio heater was never turned on and we we’re not assisted by any of the usually wonderful staff for close to 15 minutes. If you’ve been to Zinque you know this is not the norm and usually you will be helped promptly, and if not someone will have the courteous to stop by and let you know they’ll be with you shortly. Our server eventually came by and seemed pretty unhappy to be asking if we had been helped yet. At that point we left and went to fable and spirit and were delighted to be promptly and happily assisted. Zinque is still one of my favorite spots but du day evenings treatment by the hostess was very disappointing.
First time experience. Service was a little slow but understood due to current guidelines. Food & atmosphere were fantastic will definitely be back!
Rough start with hostess and no server until we asked 3-4 times while other people seated around us were helped first (and we were seated first). But once they finally assigned our server everything was fantastic!
We went as a family of 4 with 2 kids (3 and 6). We all had a great time and my children loved all the tapas. (Shrimp tacos, tomate, flatbread)
Beautiful setting at night to see the boats and pretty lights. Great food options and fun vibe.
Everything was perfect. The food, service, outdoor view!
This is my favorite restaurant but it was very disappointing today. My requested table was given away despite reservation request, and we didn’t get our meal before we had to leave. Went hungry the rest of the day. Despite this I would go back. This is very unusual and the positives far outweigh any negatives at this establishment.
In general, it was a pleasant experience.
Wonderful sitting outside by the harbor. Great service and good healthy food though I had the hamburger which was good too.
Can’t beat the location and the staff is always so nice
It is my pick for a specials occasion that is casual Love it for everyday day
Relaxing spot to unwind, be by the water and enjoy a modern restaurant. The menu is light with finger foodie choices. If you want a hearty meal then you might leave hungry.
Dined here on Saturday night - good location - got in on time. Problems started with the food - the flatbread Provencale starter was soggy and basically flavorless, the deviled eggs were pretty good - but then.....ordered rotisserie chicken and it was not only cold, it was raw inside. I sent it back and ordered a tomato avocado tartine which was literally so salty than one bite was like downing a full teaspoon of salt. To be fair, and thinking that maybe the salt just wasn't mixed in - I took small bites from two of the other slices of tartine and they were all the same. When I sent it back to the kitchen I told our server (who was very nice, attentive, and apologetic) to have the kitchen taste the tomato avocado concoction that they were using - they did - and I was correct - somehow an entire container of salt had been dumped into the mixture and they hadn't tasted it before serving it. Hopefully, they threw it out before having to endure the complaints that were certain to be forthcoming. They took the items off the bill and the bright side was that I didn't overeat. As Zinque is sandwiched in between Nobu and Malibu Farm - both of which were completely booked; I should have been warned the although Zinque was quoting a 2 hour wait - several of the tables on the patio remained vacant for at least an hour while we were there. You've got a great location, but you better up your food game....there were a lot of guests I could hear complaining about the food.
Food and service was excellent despite the crazy time of covid10. we had table for 5 and some of our friends arrived late and we were not rushed by service staffs. outside seating were so ideal as the weather and view were perfect. Highly recommend the smoked salmon toasts and the branzino!
Horrible hostess ruined the whole experience . Made us sit under the sun when the covered sitting was available the whole time we were there. She had attitude and insisted on calling the manager when we asked if she can change our table.
And no one cared enough to move us.. it sure shows how much they care about the customer..:(
Not kid friendly! Explained we needed some time because we have a baby and were not cooperative even though there were plenty of empty tables when we arrived. Would not recommend as service gave a very bad impression.
