ZIMA Russian Restaurant
Treat yourself to the best priced caviar in London alongside the favourites of Russian cuisine, welcoming atmosphere and sip on our homemade selection of infused vodka.
Zima’s seasonal menu draws inspiration in flavour and culture from our adventures and travelling across all regions of Russia.
Enjoy our signature dishes such as pirozhki (baked buns), pelmeni (dumplings) and seasonal specials – a perfect match to our selection of home infused vodka nastoikas.
In our three storey townhouse we also run our own Zima Picklery, where we ferment all our seasonal vegetables, fruit, and drinks.
A fine selection of world wines, craft beers and signature cocktails are also being poured at the restaurant and bar.
ZIMA. Escape from the ordinary!
Second time I've visited Zima and I love the authentic food there. As a newbie to Russian cuisine it's great to have the waiters explain what the dishes are and to enjoy the food which is beautifully presented and delicious. I took a vegan friend and she was really pleased that there was even a few choices for her diet. Only downside is the ambience - it's really noisy and we had to ask for the music to be turned down as we were shouting at each other to talk - to Zima's credit they did lower the sound level. Lots of groups of guys having shots of Vodka and seemingly shouting toasts at each other as they did it. So in conclusion myself and my guests loved the food, the staff are polite and friendly and very happy to explain their cuisine, and I would return again.
Interesting place to visit in Soho. Was surprised it was so quiet on a Friday lunchtime, especially given the decent quality of the food.
Service was efficient, not overly warm, but certainly not unfriendly.
Lovely space with some fun and attractive art on the walls.
Food was very tasty and decently priced for the portion size (and for the local area) Highly recommend the Zima Platter for starter. Didn't try many drinks, but the tarragon lemonade, the raspberry mors, and the infused vodkas were all very enjoyable.
Good food and good atmosphere. Prices are good too.
The first two times we/I visited Zima, we were served by a knowledgeable waiter and waitress, once for dinner and once for lunch. At both dinner with my husband and my lunch alone, complimentary pickles and rye bread with butter were brought before the meal. When my husband and I returned a third time for lunch, the waitress was not present, only two staff who did not seem to know what they were doing. No pickles or bread were brought. We ordered mushroom pickles and those were not brought. The wrong pelmeni were brought--meat rather than the fish pelmeni we had ordered. It took ages between courses and we had to ask for the mushroom pickles we ordered, never minding that no house pickles were served. We got them after our salade Olivier. We asked for rye bread and butter with the mushroom pickles and after a while rye bread but no butter was brought. We had to request that our water glasses be refilled. The food is great, but my advice is to call ahead to make sure the nice blonde waitress is working before going.
Dear Michele, Thank you for taking your time to write this review. We always appreciate our customer's honesty, it helps us to improve our business. We'll interview each one of our waiters team to ensure that nobody'll forget your order next time. If they fail... We heard that Siberia could heal people's forgetfulness... We always serve complimentary bread and pickles for our customers if they're asking us to, so don't hesitate to ask next time you're here. Hope to see you soon, ZIMA Team
Amazing place for dinner with friends, great value, delicious food and drinks. Recommended!
Dear Yulia, Thank you for your review! We're proud to see you among our guests. Hoping to see you soon, ZIMA Team
A new experience following a recommendation, with excellent staff, a very interesting menu, and a great location.
Dear Captain, We're happy to hear that you enjoyed our hospitality (and Ronnie Scott's Anniversary). We'll be glad to welcome you again anytime. Best regards, ZIMA Team
Excellent service, authentic food, it was a little bit noisy
Dear Nikolay, Thank you for your review! Best regards, ZIMA Team
If you're after some authentic Russian food and drink then this is a very good place in central London to try. Staff were really helpful in advising on the menu (not so much the wine) and also the vodkas.
Dear Alison, Thank you for your sweet and honest review! It's much easier to find a good vodka in Russia rather than a good bottle of Merlot (consider it as mission impossible). That's why we've taken a wine tasting recently. Next time you're here, don't hesitate to ask about the wine. Although... What could be better than a shot of homemade cherry nastoika? Best wishes, ZIMA Team
Great restaurant - great food , lovely staff, prompt service, nice location
Service was very polite, quick. Food is absolutely amazing! Very delicious. Like a home cuisine with a restaurant type of modern twist and serving. Will definitely come back there again!
Great food, superb and friendly service, cosy rooftop terrace!
Excellent Service and amazing food! The service was attentive but not over whelming, and made an effort to allow me to try speaking Russian as I am learning. the cocktails are also delicious and the food choices were great!
It was a nice evening when we could enjoy a good selection of Russian food - all deliciously made and served quickly. However, some of the portions felt a bit small for the price, and as it was a hot summer day the room on the ground floor was very hot
Poor service, sloppy waiters and too casual approach reminded me of a Soviet stolavaya rather than a modern Russian restaurant.
A quiet lunchtime on a muggy day. We had a table by the open window. Service was charming, food was excellent, authentic Russian classics. Borsch, pickled vegetables, black bread. For some reason several of the main dishes were off, so we all had the slow cooked duck with berries, which was delicious, tasted home-cooked and good for you. We had 3 bottles of the cheapest red, which was very drinkable. Loos downstairs were sparkling. Will definitely be back to try the dishes we couldn’t have this time.
Restaurant was closed for some reason-booking was a complete waste of time.
Really nice food, it tastes just like the nicest restaurants I’ve been to in Russia. Service is quick and friendly too. We will definitely be going back.
So glad to hear you enjoyed your dinner here, Chris! Thanks for checking us out and taking the time to share. Hope to see you again!
Luncheon with best friend.
Time well spent with my best friend. Big thanks to Anna. She looked after us very well. Will come back. Highly recommend!
Dear lasto4ka, Thank you for your review! We look forward to welcome you anytime soon. Warmest regards, Zima Team
We had great time celebrating friends' birthdays! We loved that the staff congratulated them with candles and a song. The food was very good, authentic and delicious. Special thanks to Dmitry, our waiter, he was super attentive and friendly.
Dear Natalia, Thank you for your review! It was our pleasure to have your company as our guests. We're glad that you enjoyed our service and food and hope to see you soon!
Excellent Russian food, delicious and nicely presented, nice ambience and great service.
Dear Dmitry, Thank you for your review! We're happy to hear that you enjoyed your visit and hope to see you back.
Lived in Russia previously and the Pelemini was excellent, first time I had sturgeon though and very nice, simple with veg and tasty, meaty fish.
Definitely be back :)
I'm Russian and this place is amazing. A modern twist to classic dishes we all had growing up.
Fun place (although a bit noisy). Great decor. Delicious food and vodka. The waiter was fun and friendly but brought us the wrong main course....thus the 4 instead of 5 stars!
Friendly staff and delicious food
Dear guest, Thank you for your wonderful review. We're really glad that you enjoyed your dinner at our restaurant. We look forward to welcome you anytime soon. Warmest regards, ZIMA team
The food was quite alright , but we did not like the service. I can’t say the waiter was rude to us, no, but he was definitely not happy to serve our table and he showed this very clear. Perhaps he was not in the mood in general, but I don’t think this is customers’ fault.
Dear guest, We are sorry that your experience was not as expected. We would appreciate if you'll give us another chance and promise it won't disappoint! Warmest regards, ZIMA team
I've been to Russia a few times, so I know how Russian cuisine tastes like. In Zima it's really autentific. More than that - it's even more tasty!
Last time I've brought my husband. We tried draniki with salmon, olivie, borsht and pelmeni. Simple, delicious and really filling. Service was attentive, but not intrusive.
That evening there were musicians playing balalaika and guitar - a nice bonus!
Dear Lilly, Thank you for providing your review! It's a pleasure for us to read reviews like yours! We always work hard to maintain quality of the food and service! Follow our updates on social media to stay tuned for upcoming news and events! Warmest regards, ZIMA team
Thanks, I really enjoyed my birthday dinner at ZIMA!
Dear Maria, Thank for your trust and opportunity for us to host your Birthday dinner! We glad that you enjoyed! Warmest regards, ZIMA team
This is a good place to go as a couple or small group. Their take on Russian favourites are well or very well executed, and the flavours are good. There is enough choice for non meat eaters. The food comes tapas-style in a random order. Staff are friendly and happy to help with menu selections. There is a good drinks selection. The prices seem quite reasonable given the location. Have been before and will probably go again.
Dear Jcbla, Thank you for sharing a review about your visit! We look forward to welcome you back very soon! Warmest regards, ZIMA team
True Russian cuisine. Very healthy and tasty food. Great service. Recommend to everybody.
Dear Nick, Thank you for taking time to provide a review! We glad that you enjoyed your experience at ZIMA! We look forward to welcome you back! Best regards, ZIMA team
Terrible service! The worst restaurant service I’ve ever experienced. Interesting food menu, tasty and authentic.
We were a group of 8 people; we had to constantly ask for service, waited 20 minutes for bottles of wine to arrive, lack of menus, extremely rude waiter who wouldn’t listen and walked off when I expressed some initial concern.
After 45 minutes we eventually had our food order taken, after we had to ask for service (again) and after I made a complaint with the Manager.
Whilst the food was tasty, i wouldn’t recommend this restaurant because they have no clue about how to be efficient or speak with customers in a friendly or efficient manner.
Dear Steve, We are deeply sorry that your experience didn't met your expectations. Thank you for bringing that to our attention, however as you can see from previous reviews, your situation is an exception. We would be pleased if you will give us another chance! Best regards, ZIMA team
I visited the restaurant with my coworkers, as I wanted to let them explore a Russian Cousine. We found the place extremely nice, with a good ambience and service. My coworkers enjoyed the selection of classical Russian dishes, such as Ukha, pirozhki and pelmeni. Overall, it was a lovely place to visit and I highly recommend trying it out.
Dear Marius, Thank you for taking your time and providing such a wonderful review to us! We look forward to welcome you back very soon! Best regards, ZIMA team
Amazing food as always! Have visited other Russian restaurants in London and as a Russian myself I was impressed with the quality of food and the service levels
Dear Ksenia, Our team is pleased that you enjoyed your visit to ZIMA! We look forward to welcome you back soon! Best wishes, ZIMA team
Great and very tasty food. Staff have a very good knowledge about the menu and will assist and help to choose the best. I had a Vodka platter to share with some vodka shots followed by Duck and some wine.
All finished with traditional honey layer cake - with one candle on the top - as it was my birthday! We really liked the whole experience in Zima.
Dear Jakub, We pleased that you have trusted your birthday evening to ZIMA! Thank you for your review and we look forward to welcome you back soon! Best wishes, ZIMA team
Excellent food and great service in a cozy atmosphere. Homemade vodka infusions alone are worth the visit!
Dear Leonardo, Thank you for taking your time to write a review! We hope to see you again soon! Best wishes, ZIMA team
Food was good, service good. Bought back memories of enjoyable time working in Moscow so must be ok! Design a little bland but otherwise good experience.
Dear Vosberg, Thank you for your review! Hope to see you again soon! Best regards, Zima Team
Would you judge Russian restaurant by main dish Beef Stroganoff?
If so, here it is - £16.5, main dish, all cream and some mushrooms, beef in traces.
Dear Sofija, Thank you for your time to write this feedback. Hope you will give ZIMA another chance and we won't disappoint! Best regards, ZIMA team
The food was rather good, but the service has to be seriously improved. I did not expect it to be a Michelin service, but it should not be that rude at least.
Dear guest, Thank you for taking time and providing your comments to us. We hope that you will give another chance to Zima and we won't disappoint you! If you'd like to share more details - please send it to email@example.com Best wishes, Zima Team
