Zest is one of the best Indian Restaurant Edinburgh City Centre. Much of the business comes through our regular clientel and their recommendations.
We focus on providing authentic Indian and Bangladeshi curries to our customers. We offer special business lunch in weekdays. Our style uses fresh herbs and Aromatic spices, usually stir-fried for maximum freshness of flavour and variety texture.
Zest is a casual and joyous restaurant where people can relax to have a beautiful dinner. The real Indian food is designed to be shared and is served as it is prepared.

We were given a table where we couldn't all see eachnother due to a large thick pillar. We had to hassle for a waiter to take drink order. We had to hassle for a waiter to take food order. We waited an hour and 15 mins. People who arrived much layer than us got served. When the food came only some of it came. we had to hassle dor the rest of it. Rice portions were tiny. Food was barely adequate in taste.

A wee gem tucked away from the rest of the West end. I'll be back and will be recommending this to friends and colleagues. Tasty food, serving all the Indian classics you'd hope to find but also some very well balanced and impressively spiced curries to delight the senses. Light hearted and patient service too rounded off the Zest eating experience. I was impressed.

We visited Zest on Thursday for the 1st time in many years. When we were seated at our prebooked table we noticed that 2 separate groups who arrived after us had their orders taken and in 1 case starters delivered, before the staff came near us!! However, after that they were very attentive, the food was excellent and the wine reasonably priced... we thoroughly enjoyed our evening.

The key thing is that the food was excellent. We had a variety of dishes and they were all fresh and delicious. The service was a little iffy. Our waiter did not write our order down and came back to the table three times to clarify, this could easily have been avoided by just writing it down the first time. It took forever for them to bring a card machine to allow us to the pay the bill. The toilets were not the best, one door was hanging off, cobwebs in the actual cubical etc. These are small (but honest) gripes. The food was amazing and I would definitely go back and recommend Zest to others.

We chose Zest because it was close to our hotel and on Open Table, and were so glad we did. The food is classic, authentic Indian, and the service was excellent. We would definitely return.

We dined for £31 a head with wine and beer. For a city-centre restaurant in Edinburgh, this is good value. One thing that was appreciated was the 650ml bottles of Kingfisher - none of the nonsense you get elsewhere with 330ml bottles that lead you to paying twice as much for your drinks. My go-to dish at Indian restaurants is a chicken biryani, and it did not disappoint. I have a large appetite and can get frustrated when served a tiny portion. However, the portion sizes at Zest are good, so I was happy.

Needed a quick bite before and show and this was really close to St George’s Square right in the centre. There’s a nice atmosphere and varied menu with some different dishes to your run of the mill Indian fare. I had lamb ‘Sir Wakter Scott’ which was a tasty medium slice dish and lamb just melted. A side of sag aloo and a garlic naan and I was done. Good sized portions! Service was prompt and attentive. Give it a go!

After a cancellation I made a late booking on a Saturday through Open Table. When I arrived at the restaurant I was told it was a problem with Open Table and they had called me twice to cancel but they had not called at all. I can accept a problem with Open Table but I cannot accept a total lie to me. Perhaps Zest does have a problem with Open Table or they only use it when things are quiet. Either way, be honest.
