Would recommend! Moved to Charleston 1.5 yrs ago and fiancee is a Charleston native and we both enjoyed it!
Service was great though there seemed to be miscommunication twice where food was either not delivered or the wrong amount was delivered to the table. I found the food to either be perfect or an interesting idea with amazing presentation and a 7/10 for taste.
If I went back I would do the Gillard course (~60pp not including alcohol) and would include shareables so that you are not locked it and the overall experience and food seems worth the price point. My fiance and I spent 2 hours and 250$ including tip for that and I thought it was fair and would go back but not for the chefs tasting menu at a higher price.
Fantastic! Service was great and they were very attentive but not at all pushy to get us out. Food was very creative and wine pairings were spot on.
Always perfect! Chef Vinson is the most creative Chef, anywhere! Server Amy is very knowledgeable, professional, and genuinely interested in guests having a lovely dining experience. My favorite restaurant in Charleston!
We never miss an opportunity to enjoy Zero George when we are in Charleston. The chef is a master at creating a dining experience that matches tastes and textures. An exciting, and delectable experience guaranteed.
I love this restaurant. The cuisine is delicious and creative, and the service outstanding.
Zero George never disappoints, the tasting menu and wine pairings are epic.
Can't say enough. Maybe the best meal we ever had. Honestly. Ordered the 6 course Chef's menu using local seasonal fare with wine pairings. Each course is more creative than the last with flavors and textures that are truly amazing . Entire staff is friendly, attentive, and professional - the perfect touch. A wonderful experience.
Excellent food. Wine pairing appropriate. Expensive, but congruent with quality of ingredients. Recommend elevated pairing.
We had one of the most spectacular dinners at Zero for our 5th wedding anniversary. While it was a bit warm and humid, we chose to sit outside in the patio as it's a dreamy little space and the restaurant keeps bug spray on hand for the pesky mosquitos. The food was just delicious, we enjoyed every course and the drink pairings (not the pre-selected but rather recommendations from our awesome server Jessa) were perfect. Desserts were quite the finishing touch on a fabulous meal. Oh and the playlist was perfect for our 30-something and 40-something selves! Romantic, quaint and outstanding food and service. Can't say enough great things about this place and hope to come back again when we are in town in the future!
Beautiful place, excellent service, and the food was good but I prefer having a choice of what I want to eat.
The prix fixe format made choice of 1st, 2nd and 3rd courses easy. Wine list was well chosen. We selected a Hall Cb that was fairly priced and excellent. The amuse bouche was fun -- three items, the most creative baby radishes planted in a clay flower pot filled with chef-made butter and topped with "gravel" made of popped quinoa and finely chopped, dehydrated black olives. The first course was octopus which was in the top three octopus dishes I have had anywhere in the world. Tender, savory, spicy, and perfect. A triumph. The main course was as bad as the first course was excellent. Red snapper in a vegetable puree -- bland, under-salted, and disappointing. The dessert was a masterpiece. A variation on tres leches, prepared with a coconut creme and perfectly toasted honeycomb (seems it would be impossible to prepare, but it was over-the-top decadence and irresistible). The cake was as light as flour, the flavors and textures a perfect kaleidoscope. Pray they have the octopus and tres leches on the menu, order a nice bottle of wine, and make a meal of just that. You will leave very happy.
Outstanding culinary experience. Small seating areas, so a bit loud. The tasting menu and pairings were delightful. We’ll be back!
Outstanding - will return.
Outstanding food and wine pairings. One of the best meals I've had over the last 5 years. Highly recommend Zero. Will definitely return the next time in Charleston.
A unique and interesting menu! There was nothing we didn’t like, and we had a great time!
Service and food was amazing. My only critique would be that the chairs are rather uncomfortable.
We were there with a tight time frame for a Spoleto event and they were prepared with a pre-theater menu. Food was delicious, service was courteous, not rushed, and they got us out on time.
Awesome! Outstanding in all aspects. The food and it presentation is amazing. The best restaurant in Charleston in my opinion.
Every dish is creative & delicious. I had told my friend about it after I ate there several years ago & was so impressed. I wondered if it would be as special the second time. No need to worry; it was definitely just as special & the food just as yummy.
Zero is my absolute favorite restaurant. The entire experience is always stellar. Chef's creations are beyond delicious. Amy is the coolest server, and always makes me feel at home (as I generally dine solo). Everyone at Zero are top-notch. Thank you for always exceeding expectations!
Simply outstanding. From start to finish this was a perfect meal. The creamed corn tortellini were outstanding, every bite of the beef wellington was amazing, and tres leches was probably the best dessert I've ever had.
Superb pairings! Excellent! Can hardly wait to dine here again! Amy and Simon served beautifully and were extremely well versed in the origins and purpose of each pairing!
Service was excellent - our server knew the menu well; however, I would recommend that Zero have a sommelier or a wait staff member who is versed in wine.
The food was excellent and very creative.
We sat at an out door table that was in a setting that was very quiet, romantic and lovely.
We had a Spoleto performance to get to, so we opted for the 3-course theater menu. The first course was delightful set of bites - a benne waffle sandwich with foie gras; a fried choke with a lemon savory filling, a savory truffle custard with something tasty & crunchy on the top & bottom. Then the potted plant, which had a radish buried in butter, topped with chopped dried olives - tasty as well as innovative! The appetizers were also excellent - a chopped scallop suspended in a mouse, with chili, cilantro, coconut & potato crisp; and corn tortellini filled with a warm liquid filling in a buttermilk sauce, and I’m not sure what else, but it was wonderful - an explosion of flavor and textures in the mouth.
The main courses were just as spectacular - a delicately cooked halibut; and lightly poached tilefish with a stuffed squash blossom, cucumber, & mussel escabeche. Both were outstanding. The accompanying deserts were the tres leche and artisanal cheeses, which were fine, but not nearly as spectacular as the rest of the meal. We also enjoyed the flight of Madieras. Service was impeccable and friendly. Will definitely return for the full meal, when we are not here for Spoleto. Our number 1 restaurant anywhere! If we lived here, we would have standing reservations.
My boyfriend and I just celebrated our 4 year anniversary at Zero George and everything was absolutely perfect! I recommend trying the space invader cocktail. Honestly, it was the best cocktail I’ve ever had! The Beef Wellington and tres leches were phenomenal as well. Lauren, our waitress, was very friendly and attentive. She even helped show us the perfect spot for a picture after our meal. We will definitely be back soon!
Definitely request to sit outdoors, the little patio area is beautiful. The food was good, but I expected better considering the price. My review would be lower based solely on the food, but the outside ambiance and cool music was worth paying for. My real advice: spend a little more and go to McCrady's. Their tasting room is much better.
Jessa was fab!!
A molecular gastronomy experience! Outstanding and creative food paired with superb service
Whenever we visit Charleston, we always plan to have dinner here and it was excellent as always. Worth the drive from Washington DC.
Went for anniversary dinner. Beautiful setting out in the courtyard. Food was good, but not outstanding. Did the tasting menu with wine pairings. It was pricey, but it is Charleston.....Feel like we checked a box in going there but with so many great places to explore, we probably won’t make it back there for awhile.
One of the best meals my wife and I have had. Ever.
Food great. Over priced. Waiter pushed us to higher priced fixed menu. Spent $280 and were made to feel cheap.
Great food annoyed by rock music and service asking “how are the first bits”; not expected or appreciated in a high end restaurant.
Very interesting and well prepared menu. Very knowledgable staff regarding the details of preparation. Will be back and will recommend Zero to our friends.
Always an amazing experience from service to the beautiful food. The BEST restaurant in Charleston!
Portions small, not informed about the extra charges on a fixed price menu.
Lovely setting, excellent service, artistically beautiful food
, but not memorable in terms of taste. The pork was tough and needed more flavor. The dessert was good. I'm sorry to say nothing was exceptionally delicious. We love the environment, the setting, and everything about the ambience. We were there to celebrate a birthday and were hoping for an exceptional dinner. Hope this helps because we want to see you succeed as a great place.
Anniversary. Waitress and host congratulated us. Awesome dining experience.
