We ate at Zero George the night after our wedding for our first dinner as a married couple. While the ambiance is fantastic, we made a note on the reservation indicating we had just gotten married the prior night (we got married at Cannon Green - which is under the same ownership group); however, when we arrived, neither the host nor our wait staff had any idea. Overall, while the food was good, we've had significantly better meals with better service at several other Charleston restaurants for much less money. Overall, while we were glad we tried Zero George as it had been on our list for a while, we were disappointed with the overall experience, especially for the price point. We will not be back.
The bar is very noisy and we had to wait as we arrived a little early for our reservation.
It seemed like the chef was trying too hard to make it very unusual. The finger foods were sticky to pick up and then you felt like you needed to get up to wash your hands. Could be a great experience with different food. Also would suggest better signage as it was difficult to find.
good, but ridiculously expensive, better value elsewhere
Love love love this place. Food was amazing and our server Jessa was fantastic!
We had a late seating at Zero George after having driven for several hours for a quick getaway in Charleston. The tasting menu read like a dream, and complemented very well with both the recommended and elevated wine pairings. The presentations were very creative and palette pleasing with seasonal foods. We've had tasting menus in some of the finest restaurants in the world, and highly recommend Zero George for foodies and winelovers.
Beautiful anniversary dinner.
Great meal, wine pairings, service, and atmosphere. My new favorite Charleston restaurant!
We go to this location every now and then when we feel like having a unique dining experience. For $200 a person we had countless, unique and delicious plates paired with wines you just don’t hear about or see every day. The experience is worth the price, from the cosy atmosphere to the expert and attentive service to the truly delicious, curated and manicured plates. Pro tip - Get there early, grab a cocktail and head upstairs to the drawing room or veranda while you await your table, or go for an after dinner drink.
Delicious and creative as usual. Service is particularly excellent.
This is our third trip to Charleston and Zero George was by far the best dining experience EVER. So very quaint and quiet, service bar none, and the food spectacular! If you are going to Charleston go to George.
Truly unique dishes. I was amazed at the flavors achieved in the micro elements. Wonderfully exiting experience with a huge range of colors, textures and techniques. Wow. Loved every bite!
We had the chef’s tasting menu with wine pairings, which was exquisite. The perfect location for our wedding anniversary!
Cocktails are incredible. Ambiance is good. Food is good but overpriced for the tasting menu. Some dishes were amazing, others just mediocre. Presentation of the dishes is excellent
We took a short 3 day family vacation and wanted to enjoy the ‘Best’ that Charleston had to offer.
Zero did not disappoint.
We did the tasting menu, and each dish was more special than the previous...and our server was terrific - knowledgeable, attentive and informative.
Server was horrible. No personality at all and not helpful at all. Lighting was so dark you couldn't even read the menu. Restaurant was hot. Bathrooms were dirty and had a bad odor. Table and chairs were even uncomfortable. No flexibility in the menu. Had heard amazing things and was horribly disappointed.
This was my second visit to Zero George. The first time I ate here I was blown away and thought it would be a perfect spot for a romantic date night. Unfortunately, the outside dining area was not appropriately sprayed for mosquitos and we had to be moved inside almost immediately. Everything that we ordered was good but not fantastic as it was the first time. At that price point, it should be fantastic everytime.
Amazing presentations, surprising combinations, absolutely delicious, fresh ingredients. Don’t moss this restaurant when you’re in Charleston.
What an experience. Will never forget this meal and impeccable service my husband and I received. Will certainly want to return.
This was my first time to Charleston and I was so excited about the culinary scene there. I always do extensive research in preparation of trip to solidify reservations.
Zero has been noted in many articles about being an outstanding culinary experience in Charleston, and it did not disappoint!
The dining area is small, so be sure to plan ahead and grab a reservation in advance (I booked about a month out). We paid the extra money to do the wine pairing and it was so worth it. You get generous pours and yes, I absolutely left with a buzz! The wait staff is knowledgeable and give you a great explanation of each course (we had something called a "fois g'waffles" fois gois in between thin wafers. SO GOOD). We were stuffed by the end of the meal! The meal itself took about 1.5-2 hours since there are quite a few courses.
I'm so glad we spent the time and money at this restaurant. I was blown away! Thank you for the experience!
Amazing food, wine pairings and professional staff. Loved that we came in through the kitchen. We hope to come back and would recommend everyone despite the price
Fantastic food and wine pairing. Celebrated our Anniversary and the experience was superb. Very impressed!
Amazing place and an incredible meal
The most inventive menu with delicious surprises in every bite. The service was exceptional and approachable, and the space was so intimate and authentic.
Zero is a beautifully quaint, romantic gem of a restaurant. The staff was friendly and attentive(Amy our server was nothing short of amazing). My wife and I had the three course menu tasting(there is also a full menu tasting... we opted against the wine pairing because the cocktails were working just fine!). The food was otherwordly. The Spanish Octopus was my favorite, the tortellini was delicious(understatement).. and the halibut was perfect. Amy(our server) walked me through my 1st time eating caviar(I liked it! Lol). We both had the tres leches for dessert and it Left us speechless. Living in the tri state area amd having eaten at some of the best restaurants in and around NYC, my expectations can be heightened a bit; that said, Zero is EASILY one of the best meals I have ever eaten. My wife and I cannot wait to return.
We have lived abroad and traveled extensively and this is the second restaurant in 45 years of marriage that gave me a wow feeling. The food was so creative and delicious. The staff especially our waitress, friendly and helpful.
Great Tasting Menu, interesting selection and fresh ingredients. Caviar and wonderful wines.
Rarely have we enjoyed a dinner more. We decided on the chefs choice with the wine pairings. Every dish right down to the octopus, which I was reluctant to try, was fantastic and the pairings couldn’t have been better. Don’t skip a single thing that is offered, believe me you will be pleasantly surprised. Absolutely fantastic!
50th bday. Great night at 0 as always
Unique cuisine. Creative presentation. Very very tasty!
One of the best meals of our lives! An absolutely amazing food experience!
I did not know there were restaurants of this caliber in the south! Very impressed.
The octopus mole was amazing and the actual potted plant starter was cute and fun.
We absolutely love this restaurant. Top notch service and food. Parking is convenient across the street (small walk) and the entire atmosphere once you enter the grounds is relaxing. We always like to b-line it through the kitchen to thank the crew before we head out. The place is truly top notch and a lovely place to experience.
My wife and I were vacationing in Charleston and we asked our bellman at the Renaissance for a recommendation. He was adamant that we make a reservation at Zero George. We live in the NYC area and the dining is always top notch. Zero George could easily be a 4 start NYC establishment. Chef Vincent’s creations were nothing short of amazing. When we return to Charleston our first meal
Will be at Zero George.
It was delicious, elegant, beautiful and cozy. Staff was very friendly and knowledgeable. A Charleston “must do”!
Amazing experience! I’ve wanted to try the tasting menu for awhile now and it did not disappoint. Our favorite dishes were the tuna and compressed watermelon salad, the sweet corn tortellini, and the beef wellington. I’d highly recommend the wine pairings as well. We definitely dropped some serious cash on dinner but it was well worth it!
Perfectly executed service, exceptional food, a must-dine for Charleston. Thoroughly enjoyable experience.
An incredible experience from start to finish! Great service, impeccable culinary creations all in a quaint setting - as if you've been transported back in time. A must try in my opinion.
Good but overpriced. Vitello tonato should not be fried
Would recommend! Moved to Charleston 1.5 yrs ago and fiancee is a Charleston native and we both enjoyed it!
Service was great though there seemed to be miscommunication twice where food was either not delivered or the wrong amount was delivered to the table. I found the food to either be perfect or an interesting idea with amazing presentation and a 7/10 for taste.
If I went back I would do the Gillard course (~60pp not including alcohol) and would include shareables so that you are not locked it and the overall experience and food seems worth the price point. My fiance and I spent 2 hours and 250$ including tip for that and I thought it was fair and would go back but not for the chefs tasting menu at a higher price.
Fantastic! Service was great and they were very attentive but not at all pushy to get us out. Food was very creative and wine pairings were spot on.
