The Chef Experience was branded like a tasting menu but wasn’t really. Annoyed that we had to share the food and still pay $85 when we could have ordered it from the menu.

Always excellent food and service. You must try the crispy brussel sprouts…they are so good! The only place with better brussel sprouts is Jose Andre’s’ other restaurant Oyamel.

I hadn't been to Zatinya since before the pandemic and was so pleased to find it was just as I remembered - one of the best meals I've had in awhile, great service.

I haven’t been to Zaytinya in years. I’m writing so I can remember why Zaytinya is off my favorites list. Normally wait staff explains that everyone chooses a few dishes and you pass the plate to share. This time, there was none of that, and it made the experience awkward when someone hogged the scallops! The food is usually brought all at once, to facilitate sharing. However, our food was brought out in a random fashion. We never knew what was coming next or who had ordered what or how much actual food there would be, so it made it hard to figure out how much of each dish to share. In similar situations, wait staff always ask if we’d like the food brought all at once or in order of cheese, mezze, entree, etc. The first to arrive were in their 70s. They were seated up a long, steep staircase. I’m sure they said it was fine, but probably only because they are working hard to “stay young.” The man finishes triathlons ahead of most 30-year-olds and is world-class, but the woman is a bit unsteady on her feet, especially with heels. What’s almost as bad is the wait staff - anywhere from two to four servers - stood around at the very top of the stairs, near the landing, requiring them to move around every time we used the stairs. It was awkward for the person climbing the stairs and for those seated at adjacent tables, and probably for the servers as well. The food was uneven. Dessert was by far the best course. We spent so long waiting for the mezze that the women’s appetites were ruined by the copious, albeit delicious, bread. The service was impersonal. I had left a note in OpenTable about the special occasion we were celebrating, yet there was no congratulations forthcoming, and the only smile we received was when we left. I didn’t think our family party of six was that bad to wait on!
