Zåtar Lebanese Tapas & Bar
Great service and amazing food. Our server was wonderful.
Definitely recommend. The Chicken shish taouk, kafta, and fries all tasted great. Fun and laid back atmosphere.
Beware >>> My only complaint is that a 20% gratuity was automatically added to our bill for 3 people. The receipt we signed also had a blank space for a tip. If we weren’t paying attention to the detailed receipt, we would not have seen that the tip was already included and tipped twice.
Ordered the Mezze and the mule and loved it!! So delicious :)
Fantastic food and great recommendation from the manager Oz!
It was not really tapas, but food and drinks were good. Did not realize it was a hookah bar. Smoke and casual mask wearing was distracting. Fun envoronment.
Service and atmosphere was great! Will definitely return
I can't speak for the food but the drinks and atmosphere were enjoyable! They have a main dining area and a patio for hookah which is nice for the fresh air but you do get the noise from the street depending where you sit. The hookah is mediocre and I wouldn't return again due to that.
Zatar is hands down my favorite Lebanese and hookah spot in town. The service and staff are amazing and the food is delicious! Highly recommend.
Our server was so friendly and attentive. We thoroughly enjoyed our time there! I ordered the kabob platter and my girlfriend ordered the salmon with Brussel sprouts. Both plates were absolutely delicious. We also ordered hookah and he curated an awesome flavor for us including mint, rose, and something fruity. He also treated us to a free plate of Baklava! From start to end, we loved the place, the food, and the workers! Thank you for a great experience!
Service was extremely slow. We went for dinner and ended up being there 3 hours because it took so long to get our food and even longer to get our bill. The waiter took my card to run the payment and I didn’t receive it back for almost 45 minutes, despite asking other servers what was going on (as our waiter was nowhere to be found). The food was fine and the portions were large. The bathroom (at least women’s) looked dirty and the stall was so small my knees touched the door while I sat and I’m not very tall. It’s also fairly expensive- I had 2 drinks, an entree, and split an appetizer with my friend and my bill was $60 before tip. The waiter was also unprofessional and asked for our numbers on our receipts when we (finally) got our cards back. Would not recommend.
This is a very nice place, we were seated immediately. The server was great and friendly. However people who came in after us got their food/drinks/hookah before us. I saw two of the workers arguing. But other than that everything was great, the playlist was also good!
The food was very greasy. The service was inattentive, slow, and not interested in the customer. I would never eat there again and actually ate very little the first time. Very poor!
Well the service wasn’t good .... the food was ok. Had food no silverware no refills on water waiting long period of time for service ... just seemed understaffed n rushed no Quality service .
The environment is great
Basically a hookah bar/restaurant. Therefore, expect a DJ. Vibrant, food was great, service was great. I would go back if I wanted great food and hookah.
OK so in COVID times, this was a birthday dinner for my son, stuck doing college at home with his parents. He wanted Shawarma, he thought, turns out he was confusing terms and wanted Gyros meat. OK at Zatar they have both.
We started with the family Mezze platter. Sadly for Zatar we are old hands at this kind of food and had a regular table at Ali Baba on Greenville. Zatar did not compare well. The platter has two kinds of hummus. Neither was outstandng, the spicy one is just hot, better to give customers a choice and put something less repetitive on the plate. Pita that came out was cut, dry and cold. Not like the warm, soft pita we prefer. Cutting Pita ahead of service will dry it out guys, lets put more time into service. The falafel was unremarkable, and the sauce for it tasted wierd- perhaps recycled from a prior day? Hope not but that was our impression. Cheese straws are too salty to eat, really. Better to get rid of them, add some good pickles, fresh tomatoes, red onions, cucumbers, and some Baba Ganoush. That would create some good bites better than dry falafel and too salty cheese straws.
We only ordered 2 entrees for 3 people. Gyro meat was obvoiusly frozen sliced, and was dry, brown all through, and not tasty. I am from Chicago so this was an obvious gaffe. Gyro should have some pink or at least not shoe leather brown meat and some juice. Chicken was dry as the day is long. THe server complicated this by failing to bring the sauces, and then doing a disappearing waiter act so by the time we found him and got it corrected, the food was lukewarm. More dry pita and dry rice.
Oh for the days we spent at Ali Baba eating chick tawoush that was buttery, lemony, and beautiful on pita after pita of soft, warm bread. Gryos to die for.
Then the BILL came. So 3 glasses of wine, 36 dollars for avg. cab, one appetizer plate at 29 dollars, and two entrees at 19 each, 38 dollars. the tab was 133 dollars for 3 people. Ugh. No return for us.
Not good. Service lacking. Ambiance poor. Food average if you are generous. Avoid this place.
We are always in the mood for good Mediterranean food and Zatar did not disappoint. This was our first, but probably not last visit! Thanks
The food was really good. Me and a friend shared several dishes. The drinks were amazing. The only thing that would have increased the experience would have been seeing the server more. There would be long periods of time where we wanted to order additional things and had to wait. There were two large parties present so we figured that would be the case. Would go back and visit again.
The food was 3.5/5, but unfortunately the service was slow and there was a terrible problem with their sewer line at the bar that just stinks up the place as you're about to sit down and eat. Quite a letdown.
Aside from being out of a few things we tried to order, what they had was very good!
No one would wait on us. Wait staff fighting with each other. Used to love this place. Now, we’ll have to find another place for good Lebanese food.
Perfect in every way!!!
fresh and delicious food. service was friendly and servers were all approachable and seemed to love their job. the grilled salmon and cheese cigars were excellent!
Great food, service and ambience. Will definitely go back.
The food is great, the specialty drinks are delish, and the atmosphere is open so you can enjoy the local scene. Will definitely go there again and again. :)
I freaking love this place! The drinks are amazing and so is the Hookah. Such a great place for Saturday nights. Ask for Lisa because she gives such amazing service
Mediocre at best. Service was the absolute worst. Arrived on-time for our 6:15 reservation. We were seated at first by a table near the restroom in an empty restaurant. I asked for a different table and we were seated closer to the front. 15 minutes later our waiter brought us water. Forty five minutes later, dinner arrived. Moussaka - decent flavor but overloaded with peppers and onions. One piece of eggplant. Hubby had the Gyro platter. His meat was cold and average. Our waiter never asked us if we needed anything or if our meal was good. Then; we had to ask for our bill and ask someone to ask our waiter to come get our credit card. Not a repeat visit will this be.
My husband and I stopped in for a quick bite and to smoke hookah. We started off with hummus and fattoush salad and the hummus was fantastic!! finished off with a pot of tea and knafeh. Roy was our server and was great. He told me a little bit about his background which I enjoyed. Thank you Roy!
Our food was amazing and the service was excellent. We began with the tastiest grape leaves and a gorgeous Labanese Cabernet. Highly recommend sharing the grill platter. The only weird happenstance is that each party was seated right next to each other in a completely open and rather quiet restaurant, so it felt a bit like we were all sharing our stories with one another lol. No big deal nonetheless. The servers were very helpful and gave interesting tidbits on the menu. The food came out fast and seasoned to perfection. Will definitely return!
Food: the hummus was very bland. Didn’t taste like the hummus you find anywhere else. Missing that tahina flavor. Didn’t think you could mess up hummus. We ordered a mixed grill platter. The kefta was delicious. The chicken and sirloin were overly charred losing the flavor of the spices. We ordered the beef medium and came out well done the first time and medium well the next. It was also room temp and it was cool out.
Service: our female server was good. We waited a bit too long for a fresh glass for the refill of wine that was brought to our table in the small carafe. Overall she was good. The manager came out to discuss the food and offered to comp the food and remake the plate. I accepted his offer to get a replacement but didn’t realize we’d still have to pay for it. The food came out warm with better flavor and not just the burnt charred taste.
Overall: there aren’t many menu options. Having lived in Dubai for two years, eating at the best Lebanese restaurants and an avid foodie, I became familiar with the flavors or many entrees and have to say that a lot of flavors were missing. It’s a cool place for drinks or for shisha but no bang for the buck food wise. It was my birthday dinner, first time there and probably won’t return.
Everything was great. The food was delicious. I had the lamb mac n cheese and a gyro wrap. had to get a to-go box. They are not stingy with the drinks either. Nothing was watered down. Absolutely the best Hookah I've had. A little pricey, but well worth it.
The hookah was refreshing, the drinks were well balanced, the food was delectable, the atmosphere was fairly quiet, and our server was very friendly. Overall a great experience. Know that I went on a weekday though. Don't know what the weekend is like there.
Finally!!! Great falafel! Moved to TX a few months ago and have been in search of a new favorite Middle Eastern spot. Tried several items and loved all!
Servers were very attentive. We will definitely be back
Lisa always gives great service she makes the experience fun and enjoyable. Sam the manager is also very funny and always checks on guest. Just such a great experience overall!
Zatar is a hidden gem in Deep Ellum! Some of the most delicious and flavorful food I've ever had and seriously incredible service. Will definitely be back for soon! Absolute must order: cheese cigars.
We arrived and table was ready immediately. It was SO HOT that we requested an inside table instead of outside that we originally requested. We got lucky and we waited less than 5 minutes for indoor seating. The service was excellent and the staff were very friendly! The food was superb!!! Loved everything!
