My children took me to Zahav to celebrate my 60th birthday. They knew that I’ve wanted to go since it opened. When we arrived we were immediately seated and handed our menus. They had printed up menus saying”Happy birthday Dawn” on the top. I was thrilled!
The staff could not have been more attentive. They were extremely knowledge and helpful when it came time to order.
The restaurant itself is just beautiful... and the FOOD!!! Oh my gosh...everything that we ordered was excellent! As there was 6 of us we had a large sampling of most of the menu items.
It was a 5 star experience from start to finish. I simply cannot wait to go back.
This is a must do if you are a Philly foodie.
Loved it. Would go back over and over!
Outstanding food and service .. we had a party of six and got to try the entire menu with the Tasting Menu! Will definitely be returning!
The food here is wonderful but I do not like the way the prix fixe meals are set up. If you want their special lamb meal it is $60 per person and EVERYONE at the table must order the same thing. They will make a slight variation if there is a vegetarian, etc. in the group. But it is a ton of food and I can easily see two people sharing it with one or two additional sides. This policy imposes a minimum per person and thinks everyone is okay with it if they are given a ton of food. I think the restaurant should revisit this policy.
Our favorite place on east coast everything is always amazing and inovative!!!
My wife and I experienced at Zahav was absolutely amazing. The food Great as well as the service. Will definitely be going back soon.
Amazing food, great variety. Waiter was unfortunately not very good and dampened the experience. Messed up our drink orders twice and was not attentive.
My favorite restaurant in Philly - everything perfect every time.
Personalized menu, great food, didn’t feel rushed or like we were waiting around. Music selection was a little... curious... but definitely not offensive
We went to Zahav with high expectations. With such a long waitlist to get in, how could you not? After dining however, I left a bit confused about what the big discussion really was about. Not to say that some of the dishes did exceed my expectations, but I felt others were lacking in their execution, taste, or fit within the meal. I enjoyed the layering of the courses on top of one another, but I felt the dinner crescendoed early on during the mezze (second) course.
The wine pairing felt right, with the final red having a phenomenally robust bouquet.
I was not a fan of the Top 40 music that was playing over the loudspeakers in the restaurant. It added nothing to the ambiance and, in fact, became distracting at times during the meal and ripped at my wish to be whisked away into a place of middle eastern delights, smells, sights, and sounds.
I have patiently waited for my reservation at Zahav (3 months) so my exception were high. We had no idea what the menu would offer. Our waiter was extremely helpful in explaining the choices and we decided to do the tasting menu. And the exotic dishes started arriving within minutes and didn't stop for an hour and a half. Once must be courageous as there will be things you would never think you would eat (duck hearts) but everything was wonderfully prepared, the spices and sauces added layers of flavor that made you savor each bite. It was a lot of food and you better not try to finish each small plate. The desserts were delicious but the highlight was the amazing hummus, couldn't believe hummus could be that much better than others. It lived up to its reputation that is for sure.
Great as always! Made us feel special by placing our names on the menu for our anniversary! Food delicious!! Enjoyed touch of Israel!
An amazing experience. The food was incredible. My husband and I chose the taste of Zahav, which I thought was priced exceptionally well for the amount of food we received. I was excited for every plate that came out. The pita and hummus were phenomenal and the dessert left me wanting to lick the bowl. Service was incredibly detailed and nothing was missed. Quality service and dining experience. Love love love. Well worth the wait!
We waited a long time to get a reservation at Zahav and it was worth the wait. We had a lovely time. The food was great and the wait staff was excellent. It was great fun.
Excellent. No regrets.
Been a few times and had a great time each time. Was a bit disappointed to find they took my favorite dish off the menu, the smoked sable. Hopefully it will make a comeback.
So grateful to get a reservation at this amazing spot. We had a group of friends visiting from out of town and we had an amazing dinner in this great Philly restaurant.
WOW! Great! Can’t wait to be back.
Zahav unfortunately did not live up to the hype. Out of the 5 plates that we got there was only 1 that absolutely blew me away - the fried cauliflower. Given how tough it is to get a reservation here, I was expecting something spectacular and the only spectacular thing was how much it cost - around $35 per person. On the positive side, the service was excellent. This is the only place I've been to where they were willing to give us a drink while we waited for a table.
One other down side - just 4 desserts. On a hot summer day, we opted to skip those and go to Franklin Fountain instead. Turned out to be the best decision of the night :).
This is an amazing Restaurant ! One of the best all around! My wife is Israeli and the food brought her back to her childhood! Service, food and ambiance were top notch! Owner/Chef Michael greeted us at our table and spoke Hebrew with my wife. People should absolutely come here whenever in Philadelphia !
We celebrated 4th of July with some friends before the fireworks. We had the tasting menu. The multitude of apps were both delectable and always interesting. The lamb was as delicious as I remember. The only disappointing part was the waiter and staff that presented each dish seemed like they were in a rush and not as good at presenting and telling us what each dish was that we were eating. The waiter who served us when I went for my birthday was phenomenal (reddish blond hair-Jan 10) He was really detailed and described each dish which increased our enthusiasm and appreciation for the creative efforts of the chief. Wish I knew his name so I could request him next time.
An absolutely amazing experience. The food was phenomenal. We had the tasting menu, and we cleaned every plate, even when we ran out of bread. Every bite was flavorful. Service was great despite being busy. I highly recommend it if you want to try Israeli cuisine.
Excellent, excellent service, really top notch: water glass was never empty, dishes were cleared immediately between courses and table wiped between courses. The waiter was very helpful and answered all of our questions. The food is amazing, out of this world, multilayered in flavor. Eating at Zahav is an experience, a truly wonderful experience. I would recommend Zahav to anyone!
To notch service. Food was delicious. They even printed special menus wishing my wife a happy Birthday.
Zahav was FAN-TAS-TIC! This is by far the best Israeli food I have had till date. If only I did not have to wait 2 months for a table, I would be visiting this place every fortnight :-)
Even their hummus is to die for..they give a unique twist to everything they make..that's how fantastic the food here is!
Food was great but the experience was not great as the temperature in the restaurant was in the high 80s and made worse as we sat next to the kitchen. The service was very long 2.5hours. Would not have been a big issue if we weren’t sweating through the courses. Hoping this was not the norm. Great food but hesitant to return if the temp is always this way
Fantastic food once again! Loved the tasting menu. The short rib hummus, duck hearts, raw lamb, and branzino were our faves. Our server didn't really explain or recommend anything but was attentive. We were offered more bread which never came, however. We didn't really need it and were very full walking out!
Better then expected. Best to go if you are interested in various tastes. The set per person option gets you to taste over 15 items.
After booking the reservation 2 months in advance, we were expecting a lot...it did not disappoint! We were seated on time and very well taken care of by our waiter. The food was incredible but a little pricy. We will be going back and bringing friends!
Zahav was an incredible food experience as well as service experience. Our server was attentive and enthusiastic about the food and restaurant, not to mention the food, was absolutely incredible. Will definitely come again to celebrate any and all occasions.
Unbelievable, unique preparations. Great combination of dishes, styles and varieties. But more than anything, the value proposition can’t be touched. The $48 tasting menu ($75 with wine pairings, which we did) is so far beyond excellent value, you can’t overstate it. The $60 chef tasting is crazy, crazy good value. We did both on successive nights and were blown away, and had everything on the menu save for the mushroom and eggplant entrees and one preparation of the hummus. The Salatim veggies to start were excellent, the carrots especially. The two preps of the hummus we had were amazing. The crispy potatoes, golden beets and haloumi also excellent. Lamb merguez, branzino and chicken shishlik all great, and the lamb shoulder, amazeballs. Desserts unique and delicious as well. We’ve done the best restaurants in Napa, NYC, DC and Paris and Zahav belongs in that echelon of culinary acclaim.
Another wonderful experience at Zahav in Society Hill. Every time we've been there we have not been disappointed. The food and service are always excellent and the menu constantly is changing. They offer a couple of set tasting menus but we decided to pick on our own as the fixed menus appeared to have way too much food for us. This is a great "special occasion restaurant" that won't disappoint you!
Always a great experience at Zahav. Great flavors and pairings make for a unique and delicious adventure.
Food was amazing and waitress was great but we did wait along time for all food to come out. Not only between courses but between mezzes it was a very long wait
Second time here and it was better than the first. Always worth the wait.
The waiters were attentive and helpful. The variety of food was great and served beautifully. It was a special dining experience for my wife and I on our anniversary.
We had a wonderful evening at Zahav. The wait staff was terrific and the food was flavorful-nice variety.
Favorite restaurant in Philadelphia!
Service was attentive and food was delicious. Highly recommend.
