Young Joni is James Beard award-winning chef Ann Kim's restaurant located in the Arts District of Northeast Minneapolis. The menu is inspired by wood fire cooking and features an array of globally influenced dishes and signature pizzas. Dining Room reservations are offered for dinner and weekend brunch; walk-ins are available at our bar and community table.

Young Joni is the recipient of 2019's James Beard Award for "Best Chef Midwest"; it has been featured in the New York Times and Vogue, and on Netflix's "Chef's Table: Pizza."

Tucked discreetly behind Young Joni is the back bar, serving full and no-proof craft cocktails and pizzas in a warm, analog setting. Esquire named it one of 2019's Best Bars in America and Eater called it an "Essential Minneapolis Bar." Walk down the alley alongside Young Joni and look for the red light; when the light is on, the back bar is open!

Like at her other two restaurants, the Chef's Table star leans on her Korean heritage in must-order dishes like the umami mama pizza with three kinds of mushrooms and chewy rice cakes with a four-cheese sauce and gochugaru. Pair it with cocktails that incorporate a lot of Asian ingredients—there's even a formidable spirit-free section on the menu—and get comfortable in the spacious wood-clad interior that includes front-row seats to the pizza-making action.

Great dining experience again. We revisitied favorite starters (burrata w/English peas, cauliflower; and pizzas (umami mama, Basque). Each bite worth savoring. Our server was attentive and made sure our craft cocktails were right for each of us (offered to replace if we didn't like them...no need!). We ended the evening with the photo booth, adding to our collection. We'll miss this place.

Wonderful experience all around. The cauliflower and sweet potato appetizers were great. Pizzas (Korean BBQ and mushroom) were excellent! The glazed pork ribs were out of this world. Perfectly (fall off the bone) cooked and paired with a tasty salad and kimchi dish. Will definitely return again before they close in Sept

Enjoyed our piazzas last night but it seemed like they knew things were wrapping up soon at that location and it was a bit off in food quality and service.

Great experience. Wonderful service staff. She made exact recommendations and we enjoyed the starters and three pizzas. We'll definitely go back.

The burrata and pea salad was to die for, the prawns were great, the Korean BBQ pizza was spectacular. The rhubarb crisp made us melt. The carrot cake was great as well. The drink, I could have never stopped drinking, except for the need to remain relatively sober. The service and ambiance, both on- point. Nothing negative about Young Joni!!

Pizza and Gem salad were good, Mussels were gritty, broth lacked some salt, and no bread to soak it up with.

We had a wonderful first experience at Young Joni on Father's Day. Got helpful suggestions from our server, and then proceeded to be blown away by the quality of the ingredients and the careful flavors. We had four dishes to share, and would gladly have any of them again, plus some of the others too. Standout was the Korean BBQ pizza and the mushroom appetizer. The wine list was small but high quality.
