Young Joni is James Beard award-winning chef Ann Kim's restaurant located in the Arts District of Northeast Minneapolis. The menu is inspired by wood fire cooking and features an array of globally influenced dishes and signature pizzas. Dining Room reservations are offered for dinner and weekend brunch; walk-ins are available at our bar and community table.

Young Joni is the recipient of 2019's James Beard Award for "Best Chef Midwest"; it has been featured in the New York Times and Vogue, and on Netflix's "Chef's Table: Pizza."

Tucked discreetly behind Young Joni is the back bar, serving full and no-proof craft cocktails and pizzas in a warm, analog setting. Esquire named it one of 2019's Best Bars in America and Eater called it an "Essential Minneapolis Bar." Walk down the alley alongside Young Joni and look for the red light; when the light is on, the back bar is open!

Like at her other two restaurants, the Chef's Table star leans on her Korean heritage in must-order dishes like the umami mama pizza with three kinds of mushrooms and chewy rice cakes with a four-cheese sauce and gochugaru. Pair it with cocktails that incorporate a lot of Asian ingredients—there's even a formidable spirit-free section on the menu—and get comfortable in the spacious wood-clad interior that includes front-row seats to the pizza-making action.

    Went for Mother’s Day Brunch. I usually shy away from holiday brunches but given this restaurants stellar reputation I thought I’d give it a try. I was not disappointed and actually found their buffet superior to most other restaurants regular menu items. It was so good! Can’t wait to go back and try their pizzas.

    I do luv young Joni normally , but this was a Mother’s Day Brunch. When we arrived the brunch items needed to be replenished and there weren’t a lot of choices. Also it wasn’t explained that the pizzas were included in the brunch so after we ate the brunch items our bartender said what kind of pizza would you like. So we ordered one. Afterwards she asked would you like another. It wasn’t explained that we could have pizza as well and certainly not more than one. Trust me I would have passed on the lettuce and potatoes and eaten more pizza. Maybe a misunderstanding on our part but nowhere on the menu did we see this and it was not explained. So the brunch items were MEH But Young Joni’s Pizza is still great! But I can’t recommend this MD brunch!

    It was a wonderful buffet brunch, everything we ate was delicious. We could have ordered a pizza as well(always outstanding) but we were glad we didn’t as the buffet was more than enough!

    I won’t be back on Mother’s Day for brunch. It’s just wasn’t worth what we paid. If you’re going to go here… go fir a regular dinner service. The brunch was disappointing compared to their regular set up.

    Came for Mother’s Day brunch and had a great experience overall! The food and service were both excellent. We brought our 4-year-old and 1-year-old, and the staff was very accommodating. My only feedback is the pricing for kids—there was no separate rate like most places, so we paid full adult price for our 4-year-old, even though he only ate some scrambled eggs and fruit. That said, we really enjoyed our visit and appreciated the warm atmosphere!
