Yokai is a charcoal grill created by Chef Marc Zimmerman and inspired by travel throughout Japan. The vibe is loungy and upscale casual. The focus of our kitchen is sourcing pristine Japanese and Californian ingredients and preparing them simply. We're located steps from Salesforce tower at 545 Mission Street in the heart of San Francisco.

    I’ve lived in the city for over ten years so I’m used to the prices that you see in restaurants around here. Yokai is cute inside and the staff is super nice, but the food is the most overpriced for what you get that I have experienced ever in the city. I started wondering if their rent is just crazy high. Anyway, I won’t be back but hoping they figure out their menu.

    One of the best dining experiences I’ve ever had. I celebrated mine + a couple of other friends B-Days and we dined in the semi-private mezzanine area upstairs. From start to finish the service was exceptional. Food was delicious and cocktails were delectable. On top of the excellent service and food, our waitress was so sweet & so accommodating. She even brought us all a surprise slice of Birthday chocolate sponge cake w/ a candle (whoa, so surprisingly delicious!). Exceptional and highly recommend!

    Excellent food! Ambience of dial turntables playing old school tunes was excellent. All this and Godzilla too! A little on the pricey side, but worthy of celebrational experience when you have the pennies to do so!
