    Having eaten here many times when I come to Honolulu for business. I love the food. However, this time the wait staff experience was not pleasant. When I arrived, the waiter, Jeremy was at the entrance. Without greeting me, he just looked at me. I told him I had reservations and gave him my name. He led me to my seat and showed me the QR menus. Apparently he was quite impatient with an unfriendly attitude. I quess he doesn’t like his job. That experience leaves a bad taste about coming back again, especially with so many restaurants in Chinatown.

    We love Yakitori Hachibei and have been here countless times. As always, the food was premium, the service was friendly, but at one point we made it very clear we were trying to get the attention of the server (politely), but unsuccessfully for quite some time. A simple “we will be with you shortly” would have remedied this, but that didn’t happen. This is the first time to experience this disappointment.

    For the price, nothing spectacular. Service was slow, and they ran out of items early in our seating. Had to remind the server a couple of times for drinks, water etc. and they were slow to remove dirty plates from the table to make room for new items coming out of the kitchen. All service items I don’t expect from this caliber of restaurant, and especially the outpost of a well known Japanese brand.

    We just love their high standards for everything. We often feel that many restaurants are great for first several visits and quality sometimes drop. I know that Hawaii has a one of the most expensive rent for restaurants so they have to compromise quality of the ingredients. Hachibei never makes us disappointed!

    スタッフのオペレーション、F 焼鳥を焼く場所が狭いのか、焼き手のスペックが低いのか、全く料理が出てこない。 我々のテーブル以外の方も相当な時間を待っている様子でした。 漸く来たオリジナルサラダは色が変わり、痛んでいるレタスが入っていました。焼き手の段取りが悪過ぎて一本づつくる焼鳥の味も、焦らした割には大したことのない味でした。7：30分から１時間滞在してサラダと焼鳥数本しか食べれません。 お会計も食べて無いものが入っており、客を舐めてるのかと思いました。 せっかくのお祝いに予約しましたがとても残念です。2度と行きません。 なぜ、こんなサービスでお店が成り立つのか不思議です。

    If you are craving for authentic, high quality, Japanese Yakitori in Hawaii, look no further than Yakitori Hachibei. The quality of the chicken, preparation, grilling, and taste was what I would expect from a high-end Yakitori restaurant in Tokyo. The skewers were beautifully prepped and displayed in a refrigerated glass case along the inner perimeter of the counter. The gizzard (sunazuri) is always a good measure of quality. The texture and flavor were perfect with no gamey aftertaste. Finally!

    I đi like some of the item that I order but I just dont like the service. My dining time limit is 2hrs last order this after 1h15’ of dining we understand all that and we didn’t take long time eat but I still want to enjoy my food comfortably. My reservation is at 5pm we came in a little late around 5:15 we did order food around 5:30 and did our last food and dessert order around 6:15. At 6:30 my kid want to have icecream so I ask the server if I can still add icecream to my order he said yes but not so happy about it and he told me he will bring check and my dessert our now too ( we was till eating our last order of food was ramen and chicken stukume). Even with the good food I will not be back to the restaurant with that service

    First of all, food, almost all meat yakitori were overcooked except pork belly; the first bite of momo (chicken thighs) tasted good but then that’s it, it could be that the fire is usually not as hot in the tip of the skewer so only the first bite tasted just right but the remaining was overcooked. That’s just an example. Same overcooked issue happened to scallops, beef tongues, suikiyaki. Beef tongues are something taste so different if it’s overcooked. Second, the prices, I don’t think that’s considered as a reasonable pricing given the quality and completeness of the food and the services. No, I would not recommend this place.

    Recommend. Patron has to be prepared this is not the usual big portion restaurant. It is a smaller bite, drink and social place. The food is good. The order to delivered time is not long. If you feel the portion is smaller, order the noddle or rice in addition to the skewers. The interior decoration is nicely done and added to the good dining experience. Price is reasonable.

    I love the place. The only concern I have is about the 2-hour restriction. It is a bit tight for a business dinner. It needs to be focused on dinner to enjoy the food.

    We love this restaurant and the food! But during this visit we felt extremely rushed. We had a reservation at 8pm and we arrived on time. They were rushing us to order and did last call before our food had arrived, so it was hard to judge if we wanted more food. We just felt anxious and rushed the whole meal and didn’t understand why they let us make a reservation at 8pm if that didn’t work for their restaurant hours.

    The food is amazing here!! Everything is cooked to perfection and they have a really great selection of choices. We went here to celebrate our anniversary, and had a great experience. My only complaints are that the staff didn’t really make it special for us (which most restaurants do) and there were two homeless people wrestling right outside the restaurant, which was kinda awkward. But, other than that would definitely recommend this place if you love Japanese BBQ and yakitori.

    I sat at the counter with my wife and adult son. We chose the Chef's Omakase. We enjoyed the food and upscale decor. My only suggestion would be to provide a selection of whiskey or scotch. We will definitely return to this eatery.

    The Omakase is a good value. You get a lot of food and good variety. The Omakase alone will fill you up but we always add some extra items. We like this spot and it is one of our go-to spots for yakitori.

    Food was good. And I understand they allow 2 hrs per table, that’s ok if you bring it up once in the beginning, but I think the staff at least mentioned 2-3 times to us. We started at 5:30 so we should be able to dine till 7:30pm. But they set the last call at 6:30pm literally still an hour left. I know Yakitori takes longer but their anxiety and determination to see you off within 2 hrs is way too visible. Have to say, I’m a bit annoyed with the constant mentioning of time and the staff were not as friendly compared to before. Some of the male servers just dropped the food on our table with a stone cold face. In the end we left around 7:10pm must be a big relief for them!

    As usual, the food, drink and atmosphere were wonderful, and Robert truly gracious. Our server told us about the two-hour dining time, got it. No problem. But telling us literally five times during the first hour was a bit much.....Maybe a newbie server?

    So much more than your typical yakitori restaurant. The menu is creative and oh-so-delicious. Awesomely comfortable vibe. Pro tip: order your skewers early, especially if it's busy. Everything else from the kitchen is quick.

    High-quality yakitori made with top-notch ingredients is a must-try. For the full experience, I highly recommend trying Omakase. Ordering a la carte is perfectly fine, but you will find that going for Omakase offers a better deal. For Shime, I would recommend ramen more than oyako-don (just my personal preference), I wish that they had yolk to the oyako-don, which i think will take to the next level (as an option), with hichimi on the side.
