   Truly the best Yakiniku for the dude from LA Westside, often visitor to Roppongi, Tokyo and now permanent resident of a Waikiki bachelor pad nearby on Ala Moana. First of all their homemade Napa Kimchi and assorted Namul prepared veggies are downright fantastic in taste, presentation and deliciousness. The pork belly comes with green leaf lettuce so I like to make a stuffed wrap with the above and whatever meat I’m grilling at the moment……another must recommendation is the Premium Beef Tongue with onion relish. Plus their special dipping sauce adds an unbelievable tang to the multitude of flavors that Owner Chef Etsu and his kitchen crew have successfully incorporated into all their dishes. Like to finish things off with the refreshing Morioka style Reimen cold noodles, add lots of rice vinegar and any leftover kimchee and really cleans your palate and cools you down…….speaking of cooling me down, Asahi Super Dry on tap is the best Japanese beer to pair with table top, singed eyebrow grilling and Jody, my ATF server who does just the opposite!!

   The quality of meat was excellent and service was good as well. The only downside was kimchi and other small dishes were not free like many Korean restaurants. We paid $240 for three of us including two beers and one lemon chuhai. We would go back again when we are craving for Yakiniku.

   Totally legit Japanese Yakiniku in the bowels of Ala Moana!! Just as good or even better than what I’ve had in Tokyo. Their Kimchee is really tasty and pairs extremely well with the Salted Beef Tongue with onion relish and Pork Belly/Sanchu Lettuce. Reimen, chilled noodles, is totally a must to cool down. Plus after a hard day of surfing at Waimea, you gots Asahi Super Dry on tap to quench that thirst. Always very nice to be served by Jody, check out her song by Tatsuro Yamashita from his Big Wave album!!

   Wow, a fantastic find in the bowels of back side Ala Moana!! Truly authentic Japanese style yakiniku, just as good or better than what you get in Japan!! Plus they serve my fav Nihon beer, Asahi Super Dry on tap!! My Japanese dude server Ryuiki and cute local babe Jody on their A game, to fully complement the outstanding quality of small plates and beef and pork cuts. You can’t go wrong at Tawashi, it’s totally legit and the real McCoy!!

   We received very attentive, generous service here. The server was so knowledgeable and friendly! Get rice and the chopped onions with your yakiniku! AMAZING. We got the combination platter, wagyu salted tongue, beef intestine, and pork jowls. The quality of the meats were top-notch. Everything was so juicy and delicious. We finished off our meal with kona gelato and tea, and they rounded off the meal very nicely. This honestly may have been one of the most pleasant, scrumptious meals I've ever had. Thank you, Yakiniku Tawashi staff! We'll definitely be coming back.
