Xanh Restaurant Ratings and Reviews
Too few waitstaff. Poor service. Happy hour ends too early.
Food was OK but not outstanding.
I'd noted birthday as special note on OpenTable, but that evoked no response from the receptionist or wait staff.
More than 10 minutes before a waiter appeared. No happy hour service at all inside dining rooms.
Dined during happy hour after seeing the happy hour menu advertised on their website. Happy hour prices included Crab Martini and Satays. When given the menu at the restaurant, those items were not listed. We showed the waitress the items advertised on their website happy hour menu and asked if she'd honor them. She immediately said no. Disappointing that she didn't say "yes we will, or let me check with the manager". You'd think they'd rather honor a few dollars off and have happy customers rather than a negative review on OpenTable and Yelp, but alas no. Very short sighted of the staff and restaurant despite the good food.
Our party of 7 included 3 vegans ... all of us greatly enjoyed all the food that we ate. Cocktails also very good. We ate outside... weather was beautiful and not too noisy. I have been to Xanh many times, but the others had never been (4 were from out of town). Everyone greatly enjoyed the experience!!
Generous 2 hour window for happy hour, with lots of great options for food and drinks. We chose outside seating, which was nice, despite the loud train horn that sounded several times as it passed. The Vietnamese tacos were especially fabulous. The Xanh salad and Kobe roll were also excellent. The Kamikaze wings were very tasty, but almost too crispy. The Crispy Shrimp Clouds sounded interesting, but were not very good.
The server was fabulous! She was always there when we needed her, but did not hover.
Stopped in here for a quick dinner and loved the food -- very inventive menu. It's not exactly purely Vietnamese food I don't think (spicy tuna roll and Vietnamese tacos) but seemed like it would have some good choices for a wide range of taste. Service was friendly and efficient, and we enjoyed eating outdoors on their extensive patio.
Xanh used to be one of my favorite places. Lately, they have become very busy, careless and the place itself incredibly noisy. The waiters all want to show they remember everything people at the table order without writing. Of course, they forget and either mix up things or disturb you multiple times in order to ask again what one wanted. Moreover, they do not seem to understand that not all food is to be delivered at the table at the same time or worse, someone's appetizer with someone else's main course etc, in a word, a mess. The peanut sauce for the fresh rolls is a joke these days, more water than anything else. They also gave up a very sophisticated desert called Ménage à trois.
We went to Xanh for Father's Day. We ate on the earlier side because we were attending the Theatreworks production. We got in an out easily (5:30 seating for 7 show - could have used 15 more min.) The food was wonderful especially the Ankle biters (spicy shrimp - but not too much spice) and the eggplant was great. We also got the Yellow curry and mango or papaya salad. All yummy. As well as the great lettuce wraps. The cocktails weren't that great. As the place filled up the service got slower. But the server was sweet and helpful.
Loved this restaurant! While a beautifully decorated restaurant, we sat outside for dinner, where aside from the occasional passing train, it was much quieter than inside. They have Happy Hour seven days a week(4:30-6:00), and the drinks and appetizers are very reasonable. Our dinner for four was a mixture of appetizers, small plates, and two main courses. All were shared and delicious. The service was excellent, with very good timing between courses. Convenient covered parking in rear. Will return!!
This is my go-to restaurant before the theater in Mountain View. The food is delicious, creative, and very well presented. I like to try new things as well as my old favorites (papaya salad, shaking beef, sea bass in a banana leaf). Everything is absolutely delicious. The only problem for me is that it is too noisy. It's good to go early or eat outside if noise bothers you.
Just had the most incredible meal at Xahn with our friends! This has been our favorite restaurant in the South Bay for a years. However, the food and service were even BETTER than usual this time! Bigger food portions, same consistent flavors and freshness, and excellent service. Cannot go wrong here!
I love lunch here. Their buffet is fabulous. I met 2 friends for lunch, probably our 5th time. Today, I was trying to eat pretty healthy and it was easy. I ate the tofu in the soup, curry tofu, a small sample of lemongrass chicken, green beans, green apple salad and my personal favorite, papaya mango salad. Great lunch!! Service was also great. We sat on the outside so we could soak up the sun and people watch. Great experience!
Excellent new age Vietnamese food. Great variety. Very fresh and light flavors. Loved every dish. Only down side this trip was a table of 6 extremely loud people. They made conversation impossible for everyone else in the room. Would have been nice if management had asked them to lower their voices.
Went there to meet a friend for lunch and they serve only buffet at lunchtime. There were plenty of items to choose from but as with most buffe to, quantity doesn't mean quality or taste and Xanh proved to be no different. All items were mediocre in taste, with some items just too salty or overlooked with little flavor. Will not go back, at least not for lunch.
My friends and I came here after work one day for happy hour. We sat outside, which was nice since it was a warm evening. The service was impeccable, the food tasty and fresh. We sampled many items, including the Spicy Popcorn Chicken, Vietnamese Tacos, Kamikaze Wings, and Kobe Roll, all of which were excellent! Would definitely come again!
