Would have been 5 stars but for the half-hour wait for our a table. That said, waiting in the wine bar next door was a pleasure.
Great atmosphere and exceptional food & service! An Austin treasured dining experience, been coming here for years and always pleased.
Excellent food...be sure to do the 5 or 7 course meal.
Sadly this restaurant seems to have gone downhill a bit over the last several years. Trout was dry and tasteless. However, Grouper was done perfectly. Service was very slow.
We live the food was delicious tha k you
It is very loud !
Bit pricey for the menus
WINK always delivers great food but the pacing was really off tonight compared to previous visits. Not sure if it was the kitchen or the inexperienced server. Nevertheless, everything was well-prepared and on point and the wine selection was excellent.
I had a wonderful experience at Wink. The chef’s tasting menu is sublime, and they have the option for wine pairing. The ambience was personal and the service was great! I highly recommend Wink. It took us a minute to find it tucked away (in retrospect not really hard to find)
Another great dining experience at Wink. (Except for a 6-top of loudmouths, who seem to be unavoidable these days, even at upscale restaurants. Whatever happened to manners?) Our salad and entrees were imaginatively conceived and perfectly executed. Though the dessert menu at Wink rarely varies, the offerings are reliably delicious -- sticking with winners is a good strategy. My entree (beet-encrusted flounder) was the best I've ever had at Wink, which is saying a lot because we've dined there dozens of times in the past 13 years and entrees (along with everything else) are almost always excellent.
We chose to eat at the wine bar (full menu) because of the vibe and music and are so glad that we did. Jen was a delight. Everything that she suggested was on point from the order in which the food was brought out (Hamachi before the mussels) to the wine pairings. The mac & cheese is definitely worth the calories and dessert is a must (Trio). t was such a lovely experience, we can't wait to go back and bring friends.
Second course of our 5 course was substantial delayed. Two wine top offs on our pairings was nice.
The food was exceptional. I loved the tasting menu choices. The wine suggestions were great-complemented the food nicely. Friendly and hospitable staff!
Excellent quiet dining experience with amazing food and good wine. Our server, Tim was very knowledgeable, helpful and professional individual. We ordered the 5 course Chef dinner experience and absolutely amazing, flavorful experience . We plan on going back.
Our waiter Tim was fantastic as was the greeter at the door who organized our seating ( some in our party were early and some a bit tardy. All in all it was a lovely New Years Eve dinner!
Food and service were great. We did the tasting menu with the wine pairings and everything was delicious! I even loved a few foods that I wouldn’t normally order so it was fun to branch out a little and try new things!
Wink is one of my "go to" restaurants in Austin - the food is consistently very good and the staff is attentive and gracious and knowledgeable. This time we were joined by some foodies from Dallas who were equally impressed. When our friend exclaimed with glee over the Amuse Bouche that was served, they brought him three more at the end of the meal! I generally order the duck entree because it is always cooked perfectly - and always with a new twist on a sauce to accompany. Great wine list, too!
Perfection every single time.
Our newest tradition of going on Christmas Eve!
Birthday, very good, food was awesome, 5 course meal with wine parings. All was very good.
Everything was exquisite. From the wine bar to after dinner coffee, and especially the delicious meal and wine in between.
We really enjoy Wink, the food, service atmosphere is always very good. The best Duck in town and the El Rey Chocolate Cake is top notch. Great vibe.
Wink is a hidden gem well known to central Austinites. It has no glowing signage above the discreet entrance, and doesn’t need it. The restaurant itself is warm, intimate, and a rare treat. We were greeted by our waiter Alfredo, and he alone made the meal and the occasion spectacular. He was available just when we needed him, and yet not intrusive. His wine suggestions were spot on, and he was very helpful with the food choices. His presentation of each plate was elegant.
The food itself was innovative, and displayed a melange of flavors, textures, and colors. My daughter had the duck breast and I had the tile fish. We finished dinner with a spectacular lemon meringue dessert with an absolutely divine lemon rind that was somehow cooked and made just perfectly chewable on top.
Needless to say, we will be back soon, and I highly recommend this restaurant. It ranks with my top five in Austin.
First time the food was better. Staff is excellent. Too loud on a busy night. Go on a slow night. I saw there is a Wink bar next door that serves the same food. I'll go to the bar next time.
Although extremely pricy (more than $600 for four, it was very good in every way, down to the Happy Birthday message on our menus. Professional service, delicious food, perfect wine pairings and there's parking too, which is a rare commodity in Austin these days.
We love Wink and visit often for many years. We’ll continue to do so.
They have great food, but it is a little expensive for a weekly/monthly/annual dinner out. It is nearly impossible to find the place since they don't have a sign one can see from the street; at least the door said "Wink" so that you knew you were at the right place.
It's been a while because of our previous experience (overdone tenderloins). This time everything was perfect, the food, the wine, the service, the personal attention by chef-owner Mark Paul -- and especially the great service by Debra. She has been with Wink since the beginning, and has cut back to three days a week. Make your reservation for an evening when she's there.
Best culinary meals we have had locally in years. Superbly prepared and flexible to adjust ingredients to suit dietary restrictions and pared beautifully with delicious and reasonably priced wines. Going back ASAP.
It was our first visit to Wink and the location was a bit hard to find. It's tucked in the corner of a small strip center. The wine bar and restaurant are across a breezeway from each other.
Once inside, however, we enjoyed a lovely meal, well prepared. We'll go again.
Happy hour. Apps way too salty. Hamachi tasted like canned tuna on toast.
Wine price was okay
Always a great time when visiting. Service is excellent, and the food is so good!
My only complaint would be that the music became super loud halfway through our dinner (in the bar side). We stopped being able to hear one another talk. Before someone turned it up, we were enjoying both the music and our conversation.
20th Anniversary. No other place was even considered. Such a special place. Always do the chef menu with wine pairings! 🍷
One of my favorite go-to spots in Austin. Dependably excellent.
Contemporary American Dining experience at its best.
What a fantastic night. Thank you to our host & thank you Tim for your very warm hospitality.
If you have not been here then you are missing you. Never had a bad experience (and I have been coming here since 2003) and recommend to anyone. I personally want to come back and eat the wine bar, the food they were serving looked amazing!
We eat here a few times a year. The menu speaks for itself. We love the small intimate atmosphere, helpful waitstaff, wine selection and perfect food.
The food is outstanding, Note that the portions are a bit smaller than expected. This is good if you have sides ordered as well-however if you want to sharing a meal you may want to re-think it.
A really special evening celebrating my husband's birthday. We had trouble finding it due partly to an incorrect address on the website. Good idea to call for directions. WELL WORTH the trouble though. GREAT SERVICE. Really good food. My husband had the 5-course sampler - I the scallops. Highly recommend both. We will be back with friends.
A very nice restaurant with cordial service but if you aren't a local and perhaps a regular service is a little mixed. Food is good but they seem rather self impressed about it. As an out-of-towner I would not recommend the restaurant but if I were a local that could change. Excellent and well priced wine list.
This place is awesome!
