We went a few days before the restaurant was closing "for renovation." So it seemed incredibly empty, and there were a few menu items not available. But the service was spectacular, (thank you Brian!) and the food delicious. It's just a bit too pricey for my budget, although ever so delicious. Nothing is prettier than sitting on this patio. I hope they keep it as pretty as it is when they do the remodel.
I usually really enjoy eating here for a Sunday roast but the service seems to have gone downhill the past few times I've been in. Last week, we waited a long time for our waitress to greet us and most of the items on the menu weren't available (including no roast potatoes for the roast). We got charged for extra gravy / substitutions and then we got probably just 2 or 3 drinks on the bottomless special because nobody really checked in on us (despite us having empty glasses most of the time we were there).
I really hope service improves, because the concept is great and the food tastes amazing.
The food was good, setting enjoyable, the prices were quite high and not justified. All the sides were tasty but quite small for high prices.
Excellent roast and wonderful music
Service was great and so was the food!
The Roast options are all amazing and very good breakfast potatoes. Great live music and attentive service.
The restaurant wasn’t the same. It was empty. And the menu was completely different and somewhat limited. Perhaps the chef is gone and the restaurant up for sale??
Wilshire Restaurant delivered great food. Our waiter was fun and energetic and made our girls night out a great dining experience. We enjoyed ourselves and overall, it was a 5-star. The prices were a little high but everyone else in the group of 6 felt it was worth it.
We hadn’t been to Wilshire in a couple of years. Whoever is cooking did a splendid job. Lobster donuts? Amazing. Very pleasant experience. We will be returning soon.
Food and service are fabulous - prices are steep. That said, we would go back again. We had dined there once before and chose to go back again because everything was delicious - and you will not find better wait staff anywhere in LA. As long as you go in expecting an expensive meal, it is well worth the visit. I would recommend.
Great food. Lobster doughnut... say what!! Beef Wellington really great. Good wine choices!!
We had a great time! Wonderful staff! Their roast is delicious!
Let me preface this by saying we only tried 3 appetizers, the soup, trout, and brussell sprouts. With that said, they all tasted weird and let an aftertaste. I am hoping next time, the entrees are better than the apps. With that said, drinks were good and ambiance and service were excellent. I would come back just for drinks and may try the food again.
Lovely patio, great service and yummy food. Service was also great. A very special dinner! Highly recommend the short ribs!
Here's the deal. We have returned to Wilshire restaurant a number of times over the past few years. It's always been an agreeable experience. This time, however, the service was notably poor. Seemed as though it was the waitress's first day on the job. Furthermore our lamb entrée was affirmatively bad probably due to the quality of the cut of lamb. A curry appetizer was only acceptable and the risotto entre was not great. Would I recommend Wilshire? I think I would give it another try myself but until I was convinced that the food and service are now what they were in the past I could not send someone else there. Sorry.
Over priced food and very poor service they only had 4 tables with customers and still would not give service
The mushroom risotto was amazing. I love having relaxing dinners on their beautiful patio.
Business lunch so lovely sitting outside. Very comfortable, and food good.
Great food, service and ambiance. This place is really a "find".
I enjoyed the lunch on the patio at Wilshire. It is a pleasant place to dine in a low key setting with a nice assortment of items on the menu.
Beef Wellington is one of our favorite dishes and, for us, has been very hard to find on restaurant menus. This dish was fabulous at the Wilshire Restaurant! It might seem pricey if one checks the on-line menu. But the beef comes with four incredibly delectable side dishes. A huge amount of food - we took leftovers home. Our appetizer and dessert were also delicious! The service was wonderful - all servers were very pleasant and extremely attentive. I guess the best review we can give this restaurant is to say that we already recommended it to our friends and intend to return ourselves and with a group of like-minded Beef Wellington lovers!
My reservation was for 8pm. On the Wilshire Restaurant's website, there is no specified closing time. Not that my party wanted to stay there until midnight, but at about 9:05pm, the waitstaff started to extinguish the candles and preparing for closing while there was still mine and another party dining. While we were nearly finished with our meal, we felted rushed to get out of there. It was disappointing because I was with friends from out of town and this was my recommendation. I wish I had chosen a place that was open later.
The restaurant is old and run down and too costly for the quality of food offered. The service was good but slow and very few customers were there for lunch so it was hard to understand why.
Great food but a lot of big parties in for the Sunday roast which meant we waited a long time for our food. The waiting staff kind of ignored us, didn't check on us and didn't explain what was going on so we found this frustrating. The roast was excellent though and we'd definitely go back.
Excellent food, reminding me of s good old English roast
I was glad we got there at 6 PM because we could talk easily at that point. We met Brian, our really wonderful server, who took good care of us all evening. The arugula salad was wonderful, but the salmon was disappointing. The last 30 minutes we were there we could barely hear each other because it was so noisy in the indoor room. That was my first time in that room. My previous visits I had been at the outdoor patio and the last time was happy hour at the bar. I think I liked happy hour at the bar best of all. I was very pleased that Brian knew all about gluten free food, so he could direct me appropriately.
It was nice looking way over priced with not the best Quality of food not enough on the menu
There was a creative Valentine’s prefix menu and great service. We enjoyed our evening there very much. We look foward to going back for the regular menu soon.
The food and service were spectacular...we enjoyed every minute. Can’t wait to go back!
Guest from out of town/ Valentine’s Day. The food was excellent. We were able to hear our guest as it was not too loud. Because it was Valentine’s Day there was a 4 course dinner. All good but too much food!
I was served what may be the tenderest halibut filet I ever had! Moist, not at all watery, perfect crust on top, full yet delicate flavor.
The food was stellar. This place is a hidden gem. Try the lobster donuts!
Everything was great. However, going out to eat using the Open Table Reservation System turns going out to a meal a negative experience. I don't like it. I'm required to write a review every time I use Open Table? My time is worth much more than the $25 credit I receive after using Open Table umpteen times.
I will probably not use the application too much anymore. In the future I'll call the restaurants directly when making a res. I don't want to have to come home and type every time I go out.
The food is very good. The menu is varied and has some options for vegans. The patio is a great venue. Great when the weather permits. Great for lunch or dinner. The bar is under utilized, but great for parties and group happy hour.
Everything was just great on this and all visits I've had at the Wilshire.
Service was great and the food exceptional.
My girlfriend and I had high-hopes for Wilshire Restaurant after reading good reviews of it. We decided to try it for dinner and things started-out on a promising note as we were seated in a comfortable booth and chose an excellent full-bodied, red wine. Unfortunately things went downhill after our initial order as our waitress abandoned us the rest of the night to attend to the customers sitting at the bar. Of course that’s O.K., but no server replaced her. The service was pretty much non-existent from that point on. We literally had to get-up from the table to request routine dining items. It’s really a shame because we very much wanted to like this restaurant as it’s located just a few blocks from our home.
The kitchen unexpectedly closed at 9pm, but I had made an 8:15pm reservation. Everything says online that they close at 10, so why did they suddenly close at 9? I feel like I should have been warned when they called on confirm my reservation because I would have cancelled. For what we spent, I feel like we were rushed out the door.
Creative chef with delicious combinations of ingredients. We had the mushroom soup, arugula salad with apple slices of capicola lean great dressing, alaskan halibut with gnocchi...We sat in a nice booth in the bar lounge area freat area to dine besides the main dining room....definitely go back plus the chef split the halibut to be shared plating.
It seems like the Wilshire has fallen on hard times. Went there for Sunday "Supper" food was disappointing to say the least and even though we were with only two other tables the kitchen forgot half of our entrees. waiter and host were pleasant enough though
Waiter was noticeably absent most of the night, didn’t ask if we wanted more drinks, took forever to get check so we took it to the front. Food was excellent as well as ambiance
