Going away dinner with dear long time friends.
This was a special lunch for a friend for 10 people. The food was delicious and the service very attentive without being obtrusive. We all had a wonderful time. I was proud of my choice to have this happy event at Wilshire Restaurant.
Food was really bad! Shocked as we love this local place.
The menu has shrunk, and some of the choices were fine, others were so-so. Eight bucks for bread and butter......really??
Still outstanding. Service and food were both fantastic and it was quiet enough to have a business conversation
Easter Sunday brunch - the service was good, the drinks were great, and the food was just okay. All in our party had a “roast” of some kind, and all, sadly, were disappointed. Our food was bland. I’d return, but would try something else on the menu.
Nice patio ambience... service was a little disorganized... Caesar salad good, asparagus soup delicious, mushroom risotto delicious, halibut a little over cooked and salty...for the price lots of choices
Amazing food and excellent service. Top notch across the board! We enjoyed the patio outside for a business lunch and we will certainly be back again. I highly recommend this restaurant!
Server was more interested in sitting down with people at the table next to us, then in waiting on us. Had to get up and ask her(sitting at the next table) for our check at the end of dinner. She told us she was not working anymore and from her seat told someone behind the bar to get us our check. Won’t be back.
Love the Wilshire restaurant! Great food, service and ambiance. One of the best places to relax and catch up with friends, for a special occasion and if you want a delicious meal, yummy snack, or a fabulous glass of wine or cocktail.
Chef Brandan Collins is an LA treasure. Our second visit since he took over the menu. Thank God for full and generous portions of such delectable dishes- all the more fun to share. We had the scallops and short ribs both to die for. But do not miss ordering the Cesar Salad- truly one of the best we’ve ever had just perfect and glad we ordered the large one to share. Fabulous service all around - they kindly comped us on corkage given our return visit. Can’t wait to go back.
The food and service were excellent. The Chef has come up with some things that I have not seen anywhere else. Just delicious. One of our party required gluten free food and they were very accommodating.
Although the food here is excellent, the chef does not allow any substitutions and refuses to cook the food as the customer desires. The manager is very kind and hospitable in trying to explain this but it's a shame because the ambiance outside is quite nice. I've been several times. Once they would not cook my filet as I requested because I simply like medium plus. I do not like any even slightly undercooked part of my meat. Then I was there again recently for brunch and they wouldn't cook my eggs dry. I go out to eat to pay for someone to cook for me. If I wanted to be told how to eat my food I would visit my mother. I pay to have food cooked for me the way I like. They do have a wonderful bottomless mimosa, bloody mary or margarita for brunch.
Menu has changed and is not as good as it used to be.
Wonderful Sunday roast,
Truly authentic, super tasty and great portions
Thank you for doing it right guys !
Great little spot hidden away. Awesome for a special occasion or date night. Will be going back
Beef Wellington was amazing! It was the third time we’ve eaten there and am amazed how good it is every time. One of the most underrated restaurants in my opinion!
Delicious food, cocktails and wine! excellent service!
I went to the Wilshire Restaurant to celebrate my birthday with friends and it was an excellent dining experience all around....food, service, ambiance! The menu selection was great and the food came out perfectly. Great attention to detail on a fronts. I will definitely go back and highly recommend this spot!
Wilshire used to be my favorite "to go" restaurant, but with the new chef and new management, everything is ruined: The food verges on being inedible. The guanciale that came with scallops was incredibly tough - probably sitting around in a hot oven for days. Service was abominable and slow as a glacier. Drinks took almost 25 minutes to arrive. Check came before desserts came. Wilshire needs to go backot its roots and reestablish itself soon or else it will be a footnite in history.
The food is amazing, and Brendan Collins is my favorite chef in LA. Unfortunately our waiter only came by once to ask for our drink order and once to drop off the check (in which he said nothing and made no eye contact). We actually had to flag down another waitress to put in our food order after 20 minutes of waiting.
I will be back because the place is amazing, but I will try to avoid that server.
We went for the Sunday roast. It consisted of four large slices of roast beef, some roast potatoes, vegetables, cauliflower in cheese sauce, and three Yorkshire puddings! With a side of jus and horseradish. All this for $27. The food was good and there was a tremendous quantity.
They also have the same with roast chicken instead of beef. A great old-fashioned Sunday dinner.
After ordering a drink I was given a wrong cocktail. Isn’t a Grey Goose on the rocks simple enough. Instead of the slice of lime needed to squeeze into the drink, I received merely a peel dropped into the liquid. Our party of four wanted to order a variety of appetizers to share, but the selection was extremely limited, and quite difficult to split. I ordered the short rib as an entree and was extremely disappointed. In fact it was one of the worst dinners ever. We will not be going back!
Presentations were terrific, but overall the flavors could use more salt. Tendency towards sweet rather than savory on some of the things we ordered. Wait staff and hostess were fantastic and ambience can’t be beat.
The Sunday roast is the best in town - the food is fantastic and it's great value for money - Chef Brendan Collins has a great Brit menu that also includes a full English breakfast and fish and chips!
Horrible food. Just horrible. I honestly can't believe that they got all the positive reviews they did. I'm just astounded.
Loved the decor and the food was delicious especially the duck
New menu, food was a wonderful, service was friendly but knew when to let the table socialize.
It was very lovely and service was excellent.
The food here is top class - we went for Sunday lunch and all British people should have the Wilshire on their radar. The Roast is everything we expect from home plus, plus, plus... and price-wise is a fantastic value. Sat on the patio by the fireplace - just a great setting. But this is a terrific restaurant for ALL food lovers, not just the British.
Next visit will be during the week - the dinner menu looks brilliant. The chef/owner Brendan Collins is well known in L.A. food circles and for good reason - he's inventive and passionate about his food and it shows. I highly recommend The Wilshire...
Food was quite good and patio is lovely, but service was terrible. We were there for 45 minutes without anyone coming to take our order. We had to flag someone down and talk to the manager. Even with that we had another big service problem between the main course and dessert.
Wilshire has made an excellent move in bringing on Brendan Collins to whip the kitchen into shape. The new menu is amazing and the ambience and service will make this a place you will want to come back over and over again. Highly recommend. Finally an excellent Westside restaurant for foodies.
The food was fantastic. I had curried chicken sandwich, you have to try it. I’m from England, my friend from Australia, she had fish and chips, we are picky, and can say probably best I’ve ever had since coming to LA in 1992. I’m eager to try the English Sunday Roast.
Best friend holiday dinner
Ambience was lovely and food choices was varied and delicious.
Chef Brendan Collins' food is outstanding for any meal, but you absolutely can't miss the Sunday Roast. Eating his roast is like being back in the UK. I recommend it to anyone, Anglophile or not.
Service was a bit slow, and unfortunately the food served family style gets cold very quickly on the outside patio. Otherwise it was lovely.
We had an EXCELLENT lunch! The food was fantastic and the service was marvelous ... we also sat in the patio which is so lovely.
Thank you to all ... great food and service!
Chef Brendan Collins is wonderful. Great addition to a beautiful restaurant.
I love this place! The outdoor area in the back is charming and allows one to have a conversation where the noise level is low. It is a really pretty courtyard and completely shields any wind out on the street.
Food is fresh and very well prepared--it's a great menu.
