Willie Mae's Scotch House was founded in 1957 and has since been featured on the Travel Channel and Food Network along with being awarded the James Beard Award for “America's Classic Restaurant for the Southern Region” in 2005. Stop by the cozy restaurant with friends and family to enjoy the famouse mixed Fried Chicken basket or choose white or dark baked chicken. Sides include red beans served New Orleans style, Mac and Cheese, sweet potato fries or cornbread muffins. We arrived to find the air conditioning was out. It was still worth the trip. The fried chicken was outstanding. The waitstaff was great even though it was hotter than blazes. This place is a neighborhood keeper.

Food was pretty good, the air was off though. Hot food+ hot restaurant, was not a good combination. They had all the doors open and it was bad. The food tasted pretty good though and the service was amazing. Definitely wouldn’t be back without the air though.

AC was not working and it was HOT. Had music playing was too loud to hold a conversation at our table. They brought food out for 5 of 7 of the party. Forgot the other two. They did comp the two dinners that were missed.

Food was good. Music was so loud, the waiter could not even hear our order. Restaurant was open until 9, we had an 8:15 reservation and at 8:20 the waiter was telling us to hurry and order because the kitchen was closing in ten minutes. Our order was messed up (because he couldn’t hear due to the loud music) and didn’t show up until 9pm. At that point we asked about ordering dessert since they were closing and we were told that the kitchen was already closed. Very disappointing experience for a place that we had been looking forward to eating at during our vacation. There are enough local choices that I would recommend choosing something different.

We had a party of 7 and everyone raved about their food. The food was highly seasoned and the portions were good. Definitely a recommend if you're looking for great food and good value.

Adrienne, our waitress wS great. The place was excessively loud and you could not hear your friends or the waitress. Our seating took 30 minutes and our overcooked meal took 45 minutes to arrive, overcooked. The old Willie Mae's was like dinner at grandma's. This new place is like a loud dance club that happens to serve chicken. I came to New Orleans to eat at Willie Maes and the Acme Oyster House. Willie Mae's used to be a must eat at and now it's a must stay away from. Do yourself a favor and cross Willie Mae's off your must eat at lit. There is a new chicken place called Gus's in town. I was told by some police that it's better than Willie Mae's and tonight I'm going to try this new chicken house. Sorry Willie Mae's. I won't Subject myself to what you have become. Willie Mae’s did not disappoint! Hands down the BEST fried chicken I’ve ever had. 🙌🏾 It’s crispy just like I like, juicy, and perfectly seasoned. If you’re ever in New Orleans, this place is a must!

Taste like old times in the very best way. Staff were knowledgeable and attentive. It was great to see familiar faces which added to the experience.
