Willard Hicks - Campbell
We are excited to offer 100% black angus steaks, deliciously prepared on our wood burning grill and feature dishes prepared with only the finest, freshest ingredients.
At the bar you will find handcrafted cocktails created with premium craft spirits and an exciting selection of beers and wine.
We welcome you to Willard Hicks; it is our hope that you feel right at home.
The bar is understaffed and took a really long time to get drinks! However, the food never disappoints.
This restaurant was not what I expected, based on the menu, prices and reviews. I expected understated elegance. Instead, it was EXTREMELY noisy. The dining room is open to the bar, which had 3 large screen TVs playing various sports, making the ambience like a loud sports bar. We were celebrating a special occasion (birthday) but I would not describe it as appropriate for this. When I made the reservation, I requested a quiet table and mentioned we were celebrating a birthday. The hostess seated us near the middle of the noisy space. I asked about a booth and was told they had none, yet as we were being seated, a booth emptied and was not offered to us. I mentioned on the reservation that we were celebrating a birthday, but no one acknowledged it. I will say the food and cocktails were excellent, but this wasn’t enough to compensate for the noise. It was so loud that my husband and I had to shout across the table. We will not return. Not recommended!!
Service was awesome. Best corn bread ever. Risotto was bland but if you eat along with grapes it makes it more edible. Scallops were cooked perfectly. Steak was good.
We love coming here and will always eat here. Our favorite are the burgers, they are the best. My only complaint would be how difficult it is to get reservations. And then when you go to the restaurant and they say they are booked for reservations but yet there are many empty tables and you finish your food and those same tables are still empty, when someone could have eaten and left by then. Waiters are great.
Excellent steaks and sides. The waiter was very attentive.
We got a table where there were no lights above us. The lighting was horrible
What could be better than a couple of cold Manhattan's with some steaks cooked perfectly in a classy but comfortable, open and airy atmosphere? Willard Hicks always hits a home run.
Very dirty: table was not clean. Had to ask them. No one brought water
Many sons cloth napkin was dirty
Real bad experience-won’t go there again
The service was great. We ordered the burger with fries. The fries were raw on the inside and not crispy at all. We’ve been there before and knew what we were expecting. We also order the Mac and cheese with pancetta but there was no pancetta at all. It was my husband’s birthday so it was a bit dissapointing.
Love Willard Hicks, yummy food, good portions, lots of options. Our server was meh - not engaging and definitely not checking our needs. The rest of the wait staff were great, always filling water, removing plates, helping pack up leftovers.
Good local restaurant, predicatably quality food, mist a bit on the high price end, suitable for family with kids of all ages
Although we enjoyed our food, the music was excessively loud for a Thursday night at 7pm. My friends and I immediately commented on how we had to practically shout to hear each other. It might be because we were not in the booths away from the DJ, but a good number of tables were situated in this loud location. It's a great restaurant to have drinks and a big gathering; don't go here expecting a quiet night.
food & service were great, also great wine list. It's getting a bit lively there, hip young music playing, etc., so it's fun but a bit harder to carry on a conversation.
21st Wedding Anniversary
Nice Atmosphere, waitress friendly, service not so good. Our dinners (6) all arrived at different times. The birthday girl received her dinner approx 10 minutes after everyone else....not acceptable. The steaks/hamburger (gigantic)/short ribs were all good. The pork chops were tough and the thick cut fries were dry. The desserts presented well, but were just okay.
Great server (Heather). Friendly and fun.
Was a great night with friends except for the hovering waiter. Just didn’t get that we weren’t in a hurry. Empty tables around us so don’t think that was it.
Re food....salads were big! Apps good. Entrees all good. Just felt very rushed. Take that element out and it would have been 5 star review.
Ambience was definitely lacking. Stark interior but pleasant. Food was good but not great. Somewhat strange menu selections atypical for a steakhouse.
Atmosphere was nice and the bar was well stocked.
Wife Ordered 8oz Fillet (Medium Rare) which was almost raw in the middle so didn’t finish the dish. 18oz Bone in Ribeye had a lot of fat on the cut so probably only got 12oz of actual meat.
Fried Okra was great, Brussels Sprouts were also tastey.
Overall, the place was nice and our server was great but I’ve had better meals for much less money. They ‘re definitely over priced for what you get. If you are going to drop over $250 on a meal, go to Forbes Mill or Morton’s.
Nothing wrong, just nothing standout. Patio is nice when weather permits. Inside can be a bit noisy.
Great food, a little too loud
Food was very good. Servers seemed very rushed which made you feel like a bother.
I feel that they were understaffed. The waiters were running around like crazy. They were as attentive as they could be. Service was good just slow.
We enjoy eating here. Service was good, but I suspect they were a bit short handed that night, at least at our 5:30 reservation time. Good food and a good value, cost-wise. Very fair corkage program: other than in the bar area, 1st bottle no charge. Subsequent bottles at $15/bottle. My wife said her steak was cooked a bit more than the medium-rare she likes to order, but still delicious. My bone-in pork chop was cooked to perfection. Cesar salad had a tangy dressing, but a bit too spicy for me. Sides included a baked potato for her, and mac 'n cheese for me. Both very good. Didn't leave the table still hungry. One of our favorite places when we dine in Campbell.
Willard Hicks is HIGHLY over rated. Our evening started out poorly with the hostess seating us at the very last 4-top near the bathroom at the back of the restaurant. There were SEVERAL open tables, and we asked for another location, possibly a booth--"not unless you want to wait a half an hour." One person we were with sat back in his chair only to stick to GUM on the back of the seat! After relaying this to a manager walking by, we were told, "oh, geez, that's too bad..." Our server was much more sympathetic, but NOTHING was offered other than an apology. The best value on the menu is probably the charcuterie board, which is well presented, ample & delicious. Salads were good (caesar & quinoa) but too big & overpriced. Now the entrees - shrimp & grits--grits were undercooked, swordfish was tiny, maybe a 4 oz piece of fish, and the bone-in rib eyes seemed smaller than the 18 oz. listed and were mediocre at best. On a bright note, our server was pleasant and working her bu-- off. However, drinks did not arrive at the same times even though ordered together, and we actually had to ask if the restaurant has a dry cleaning policy due to the gum situation. Overall, very disappointing.
The food was great, service was terrible. It was too loud to hear the person next to you.
We have been to Willard Hicks numerous times but this time would be our last. There were four of us and while three of us received our food on time, one did not. When the fourth person's food finally arrived, the three of us were done with our meals. Therefore the fourth person requested a to go box. Due to the circumstances, the manager on duty came by and offered apologies and told us they would take care of it. When our bill arrived, the dish was credited and we received a further discount. However, when the fourth person arrived home and went to eat their food, the inside was RAW. (I do have a picture of it) I called back to the restaurant to let the manager know.
While our wait staff did everything right, I find no issue with them. However, the manager's attitude and comments were not well received by our group.
This was a family dinner to celebrate two birthdays and it was ruined.
The food was very delicious but the portions were small. Waitress should have recommended some side dishes with the entrees. The dessert menu could have been larger.
One of my fav's for sure! Highly recommend WH. Great atmosphere!
Second visit and did not disappoint. Great cocktails, lots of meat lovers options. I had the Scallops and Risotto the first time but this visit it was all about the 1lb steak hamburger! I brought half home for another meal . We shared a wedge salad, each had an entree and then finished with a shared triple Sorbet dessert. Definitely will go back!
This place was PHENOMENAL! I’ve been to many top level steakhouses around the country and Willard Hicks did not disappoint. We read a couple negative reviews beforehand and have no idea what went wrong on those occasions. My girlfriend and I ordered filets(I got the specialty one, blackberry glaze) and we were both VERY impressed! We ordered many appetizers as well(cornbread-excellent, must get, Blue Devils-very good but I want a larger portion, house Fries-excellent, both dipping sauces were great as well). Then the sides, definitely enough to share although we each got a loaded baked potato, the Mac n Cheese was decent, I like more cheese and less milk/cream tho, mushrooms were ok. For desert we had the cookies and frozen milk. Our service was great, steaks were unbelievable and cornbread is worth every penny. We will definitely be back many times. I live in Ohio but my girlfriend lives in San Jose, pretty sure every time I visit we’ll be fitting in dinner at Willard Hicks. Thanks again!
Very good food, fairly priced considering its location in downtown Campbell. Moderate noise level makes it semi casual but pretty fancy looks and nice ambience. Dessert was great, apple Dutch pie, steak was good just slightly overcooked. Sides were awesome. Salad was excellent.
First time to Williard Hicks, we will be back . Food was very good and the cocktails we purchased were very tasty.
The service was great but the music was way too loud and inappropriate for a nice Mother's Day meal.
First time here, for a quick meal, no cocktails. We shared the chopped salad and it was super. We each got a filet mignon, cooked med rare. Perfectly cooked and seasoned. Our server, Kevin, was polite and helpful. The ambiance is fun. Definitely worth going here!!
Server tried hard but the kitchen was slow and the food quality uneven.
Yummy in my tummy
The patrons on the table behind us were very loud and cussing and shouting expletives at each other. It was just one person, but that wasn't how I wanted my dad's birthday to be. Oh, well. At least the food and service was good as always!
