We were celebrating our anniversary and chose to dine at Willard Hicks. First of all, the crab cakes were perfectly cooked and so delicious. We enjoyed our entrees, his was the blackberry glazed filet which was perfectly cooked and simply melted in your mouth, excellent flavors. The creamed turnips were flavorful as well. I enjoyed the swordfish, wonderfully seasoned and it just came apart easily and was soft and cooked perfectly. We also enjoyed the sautéed green beans with soy garlic and roasted peanuts.
The restaurant was nice and quiet so we could enjoy our time there. Thank you Willard Hicks, will be back!
Pork chop was tuff to cut, medium is actually medium when in most places medium is medium rare. Corkage was really reasonable. The food was ok, not sure I would go back. I wasn’t “I like this place” when we left, not sure I would go back, didn’t “knock my sock off”.
Food was quite good as always, however service wasn't very good, our waitress was often nowhere to be found. It was an early dinner reservation for Mother's Day, so possible that they were short staffed.
Had the worse service, I feel bad saying that but we had to ask for someone to come to our table 18 mins after we sat down, we were looking forward to enjoying a drink and app before our meal. Two other couples sat after us, got their alcoholic beverage before us, our app came out before we even got water. One margarita came out 30 mins later when we ordered 2 (one for me and one for my mom), the second was served 15 minutes later after mine was finished. 45 mins for a drink? When the tables next to us were seated after us but yet greeted, served, and had drinks before us? I didn't understand. Overall the food was good and if I return it will just sit at the bar for better service.
Greeted and seated quickly, staff were courteous. Waiter was in a hurry in explaining.
The food entrees were the worst, steak was cooked properly but it was sitting on top of 1/8" of mashed potatoes that tasted like the steak, my other entree was the pasta papaderelle and it was one big ball stuck together of pasta, and it was vegetarian and they thru in mushrooms, artichokes with the sauce. They ended up credit my dinner since it was so bad. would not go back nor bring guests. Maybe brunch.
Mother’s Day at 2:30 pm- had to beg the hostess to give us a booth from the 4 open ones as we only had 4 in our party. Asked politely since Mother’s Day would she let our party of 4 sit there. Then the food took quite awhile to come out. Filet was a bit tough and asked for medium rare to rare so not because it was over cooked. Value for quality wasn’t there.
The Service, wait staff and busboys are terrible there.
It took 45 minutes to get 2 glasses of wine. They forgot side dished, no dressing, disposed of our take home items. I would never go there again!!!!!
Had such a lovely time dining here for our anniversary!
Service was efficient and very cordial. The menu selections we picked were outstanding especially the steak, pork chop, salad and yummy brussell sprouts. We also selected a bottle of wine to share and that was good as well. All in all a lovely dinner.
Our waitress Rebecca was the best, she really made the night & made my sisters birthday better by teaching us a new cheers on spanish!!! The food was great also, and the crab cakes were flavorful with a crunch and a soft inside. Definitely will return and a great place for birthday dining, a night out, or just to eat!
Sat outside on the patio. Service was good, the weather was nice and they were very careful with their Covid-19 precautions. Food was excellent all around. The restaurant can be a little pricey but we find the food and experience worth the cost. We have been to Willard Hicks many times (5+) and we continue to go in the future.
Always a good place for food and drinks. I truly enjoy the Dj that comes in on Fridays or Saturday’s.
The Jenga style fries look great but are horrible. Someone needs to say it. The seasoning is too dry and too much. The fries are a bit too big to taste crispy. It might work better if the fries where coated but right now, they simply look neat but taste horrible. The sizes are all very gourmand. A 1 pound burger is difficult to eat and sort of gross. But if that appeals to you, then very large sizes, this is your place. Expect to pay about $60 per person for food and drinks.
Service was poor, our waiter was also the bartender and he had to exit the bar from the far side just to get out and walked to other end of the restaurant to serve our table. It made no sense, since the waitress was taking care of the table next to the bar.
Caesar salad was drenched in a dressing that was vaguely Caesar (we asked no anchovies), steaks were “meh”, one wasn’t even cooked correctly. Meat and cheese platter was sliced cold cuts and sliced cheese with no description. Neither the runner nor our waiter knew what was even on there.
Music loud and hard to talk, over all very disappointed.
Celebrating a birthday and specifically wanted to eat outdoors. Happily the table was in a protected area and not effected by the wind. Nearby heaters helped warm the space too, very enjoyable and fun to watch Campbell roll by! Our food was amazing, we split a Caesar Salad, plenty for two and just delicious! He had ribs, I had the risotto, so good. The scallops were perfectly cooked. Saved room to share a slice of carrot cake - the best! Can't wait to go back. For a high quality meal and wonderful service, the price was right!
We’ve been here a few times and the food is consistently good.
Went in for girlfriend's birthday dinner , everything was good, decwbt steaks with decent side dishes, also their cheesy bread was good. Only thing that got me a little confused is that when I made the reservation I said it was my girlfriend's birthday. They brought us a carrot cake, after my girlfriend said no dessert and then I still got charged for it on the bill, really confused as to what happened there. Otherwise, good place to eat
Ate inside. Food was good, but table was wobbly. We were not given a booth so ambiance was lacking.
We were originally seated outside and there were no additional heat lamps as it was a chilly Saturday night. But management was able to safely move us inside, which was way better than a heat lamp. The French fries were great to share with a bunch of guys. Everyone ordered some type of steak and they all enjoyed it. I ordered the steak burger and was not disappointed. The thing is massive and delicious and only $18. I finished 3/4 of it and gave the rest to a late arrival in our party. Our server was fast and attentive. It was a great way to celebrate all of the April birthdays in our group.
Had a wonderful date night here, returning to a place that never disappoints!
We had the brie which is a great small size starter if you want a little something but don't want to get full. Loved the sweet and savory combinations.
We split a wedge salad which was a little heavy on the dressing.
My husband had a perfectly cooked, juicy pork chop. I had the filet with the blackberry demi-glaze where the flavors nicely complemented each other. We finished with the butter cake which was light and also very rich in flavor. A nice, light dessert to the end the night with.
We completely enjoyed ourselves and can't wait until we can hang out at the bar after.
Willard Hicks is always a nice place to dine out at on a Friday night. Very lively but nevertheless the service is always impeccable.
Nice evening out with the girls!
Food was beyond delectable! We had the rib eye, pork chop, swordfish and filet with Brussel sprouts to share. Our meal was fantastic, service was so attentive without being impatient or intrusive. Thank you for making a difficult day, the heavenly birthday of my grandmother special for our family.
We were there to celebrate my birthday. Overall the experience was good, but the hostess was bad, first they seated us by the door (with door open)on a cold night with 2 young kids while there’s another table was empty, and I had to request it. Then she never lit the candle for us like any other table. With most people would make reservations, they should arrange table seating better, instead of telling their guests they have big party while there are 2 people seating in a 4 people table, and they can’t give us better table. Other than that, the food and service was good.
A 4PM RSVP. Lil unprepared like a change of shift was happening or something. The restaurant was open my friend had not arrived as yet. The host was actually going to make me wait to seat me because she was t there yet. There was no one in the restaurant... literally. I said you’re not serious are you. You are not going to seat me when there is no one here. He sat me.
I really struggle with that requirement...a lot.
The rest of the experience was great. Drinks, food delicious. I made another RSVP for 6 people for next week. My birthday!!! 🎉🎊🍾🎈
Waiter never offered water after the first fill-up and missed the steak knives on all four plates. Used a butter knife. Food was excellent!!!!!
We had reservations for outdoor seating at 12:30 fir lunch and arrived 5 minutes early. We were told that they had just seated several parties and that reservations were no guarantee of having a table. The gentleman who helped us was rude and didn’t even apologize but said the wait would be an hour.I will not be giving this restaurant my business again.
We asked for outdoor seating when the reservation was made, but we were gonna be sat inside. They were able to accommodate the outdoor seating request after all. The server took about 20 mins to take our drink order and then another 20 mins before taking our food order. After receiving the bill another 20 mins past before I took the bill inside to pay because our server didn’t come back.
Yummy, fun & great service!
The food was bad for the price I paid. My potatoes tasted like they were instant mash and came out cold! Steak had a weird flavor. The appetizers we got were fine.
Service was not good either. Took 30 minutes before we could order our meal. And they forgot one of our appetizers and then tried to charge us for it.
I will not be back. Spend your money elsewhere. I've had amazing meals for the same price at many other restaurants in the Bay Area. Extremely disappointed.
Waiter was great, food was mediocre, hostess and manager forgot they work at a restaurant
Great spot for date night and the food is amazing!
My husband and I went for an Anniversary dinner and we loved everything about your restaurant!
We will definitely be coming back to enjoy another meal or just drinks and apps again, keep up the good job!
The waiter was nice, but got 2 out of 6 entrees wrong and missed one side. It was nice to be out in a restaurant, but expect more for the money. ,
Food was mediocre.....wife and I both had steaks, lacking flavor and side dishes were a little cold.
Drinks are fancy and yummy. They had a DJ on Friday night who played some smooth 90’s R&B.
Amazing service for my son’s birthday party was great.
I spent $48 on a tasteless steak. I had been dreaming of this night out all week and it was such a let down. The kids Mac n cheese was yummy, but the burger was over cooked and the swordfish was not the swordsfish steak I would expect to see at a place like this...it was tiny and thin. Very disappointing
We were disappointed tonight. We were there about a year ago, and the food was great. So, we came back tonight hoping for great food on our anniversary. The food was okay overall (steak was great, scallops were underdine, risotto overdone, creme brulee WAY too sweet and heavy) but the service was terrible. The waitress did not come back after taking out order. A different waiter served us (who didn't know who ordered what). Then he was about to bring our check before asking if we wanted dessert (we did). Some of the staff were standing around, chatting, while our waitress was nowhere to be found. We're not snobs; the service needs SERIOUS help.
