I will say that the banana bread was the best that I've had!! After that, it kind of went downhill. The biscuit, steak and gravy dish was very disappointing. The steak was overcooked to a point that you could not cut it with a knife. The sausage gravy was cold on the biscuits and gravy. I would go back - but only for the pastries.
Waiter took 25 minutes to bring coffee and take order after we were seated and we had reservations
I didn't know what to expect from "Shrimp Toast," perhaps small wedges of toast with a single shrimp on top? No, a large piece of toasted bread, made in the bakery. The sauce over a multitude of shrimp was heavenly, as was the melted cheese. The combination was so divine it took every ounce of my will power to keep from picking up the plate, upon completion, and licking it clean in view of all the patrons. My husband, who is a burger expert, wolfed his down with very little decorum. We both thoroughly enjoyed our meals. Don't forget to get a chocolate chip cookie to complete the visit!
I wasn’t very hungry, but was told to try Willa Jean. I knew I wouldn’t finish my meal, but I have zero regrets. The bbq shrimp toast was amazing!
I just keep going back!! Best coffee EVER!!! I love everything about it.
First time for breakfast. Food was great. Coffee selection is better than most.
We arrived for our 2:00pm Lunch reservations and the the Hostess was very nice. When we sat down and our server greeted us with no smile and was not very warm or friendly. He brought us our teas (one hot and one cold) and walked off. We has no sugar, honey or milk. When he came back we had to ask him for the above. We ordered our food and someone else dropped it off. We did not see our server for the rest of the meal until it he dropped off the bill. The BLTA tasted like the bacon had been sitting out all day. It was an okay meal and terrible service. I will give it another try.
Delicious and fun. Great ambiance and nice place to catch up with a friend.
Started my husband’s 40th bday off right with a great breakfast at W&J. Dallas was our waitress and she was awesome! My husband got the hangover bowl and said it was amazing and the grits were perfect. I ordered the grain bowl since I’m not a meat eater. Larger than you would think, and totally delicious! Atmosphere was nice. Even though the space is large, it wasn’t noisy. The natural light was great too! Overall, I’d highly recommend! Do yourself a favor and get the griddled banana bread. Killer!
We come from Ohio every few years, and always come here for breakfast at least once! It's the best breakfast I've ever had, hangover bowl and shrimp and grits rock!
Good food. Bakery was good. Coffee not as good as the French Quarter. Overall would return.
Better for breakfast, limited menu, good bar, service spotty
Yet another amazing experience at Willa Jean. I always discover something new to love like the griddled banana bread, and can’t seem to resist starting off with the favorites like the hot milk honey latte. The fresh selections of breads and pastries you can purchase are brilliant...always nice to take home a piece of the chef’s heart into your kitchen. The service is always on point and friendly. The blueberry cobbler was a impulsive choice and so grateful we indulged because it was heaven melting on our tastebuds. I usually bring my own supply of fresh or dry chilies anywhere I go (I’m Indian...so I get a pass). But when I’m not carrying, one must rely on the creativity of the kitchen and they accommodated me nicely with an array of spicy choices. Apparently, the lovely chef makes her own hot sauce...an elixir to my heart and belly. Which, by the end of every meal at Willa Jean...becomes one in the same. Thank you for sharing the love. ⚜️
Willa Jean was recommended to us from numerous people, so our expectations were high. We started with the cornbread, which was amazing!! However, I ordered the kale caesar and was quite disappointed with the lack of flavor. My boyfriend ordered the fried chicken sandwich, but ask for the chicken to not be fried just grilled. They were able to accommodate for him which was nice.
Great food. Every single time. Best breakfast in Nola. We always stop in when we’re here
Fantastic. I was on a 3 day business trip and ate there twice since it was amazing. The biscuit were great and I live in the south. Staff was super friendly, they gave us great recommendations on things to do. Must try!
Great place to eat before a Saints game. Food came out very slowly. That was the only negative.
Willa Jean is always wonderful from the frose's and bloody marys to apps and mains. The staff is fantastic as well.
My family and I love eating and having a few cocktails when we go to New Orleans, we love everything about also the fresh baked goods...breads, 🍪🍪 n’ milk!! Thank you
Great food and service
Great food. Best hamburger in town. Grilled cheese and tomato soup was a must. Don’t forget the cookies and milk too. And we had a frozen lemonade to start. Yummy
Delicious breakfast--they were a little generous with the arugula on the avocado toast. Coffee was delicious and so were pastries--espeically the monkey bread bites. Nice service. Was wondering why, when restaurant was basically empty, they put all 3 parties (two of whom had little bitty active kiddos) on top of each other instead of spreading us out a little so that families with kids could eat at their leisure and use space (to let kids walk etc.) and let others eat in a more peaceful setting. Seemed like poor crowd management. Would definitely recommend.
My wife and I were visiting the city from the Northeast and we went there our first night and we returned TWO more times during our stay in NOLA. This is a MUST VISIT place! Everything was incredible...and the cookies where to die for. We need a Willa Jean in the East Coast!
Love this place!!yummy food, casual and beautiful best vanilla latter
We got a late reservation and they were sweet to let us come just a few minutes before they closed up for the night. It was a delicious meal and the servers were gracious!
This place is amazing!!
Very friendly hostess, waiter and all staff were top notch.
We went for lunch. We picked the restaurant for female leadership. Our lunch was delightful. The beet salad was innovative and perfectly executed. We split the croque Madame and it was also innovative on an old classic. Service was exceptional. I highly recommend for a unique daytime food experience.
They have managed to deconstruct classic Southern Fare and mare it completely unpalatable; I have tried a few different days of the week and different mealtimes but I'm always disappointed in the quality of the food. Whats the worst part is.. it's mediocre food at a ridiculous price (i.e Cornbread appetizer for $8). I am absolutely done with this place which is sad since I live a block away and I wanted to have a neighborhood bar/restaurant that I could frequent easily.
Wonderful food and service!
The Salmon Toast was incredible, the corn bread was fantastic too. Desserts are huge, favorite was Cookies & Milk!
The food was good but the service was slow and mediocre. The server took at least 10 minutes to greet us after we sat. She was rude and rushed when she did come to the table. After we got our food we were nearly done eating when she came by to make sure everything was okay. I won’t be visiting this place next time I’m in NOLA.
Way overrated. Indifferent service , slow and tasteless
food was very good, homemade flavors. charming and quaint.
This was my second trip to Nola and hands down my favorite place to have lunch and coffee.
The corn bread was out of this world and the drinks were amazing!
Food was good and server was very attentive. I was a little upset when we arrived 10 minutes late, due to traffic, parking and weather, to find bd out the reservation had beeen cancelled. Someone in our party had just arrived and she was seated, but was told she couldn’t sit b/c the reservation was cancellled. Despite the snag it all worked out.
Brunch was superb!
My friend and I went to Willa Jean before the Taylor Swift concert. I had the cornbread and BBQ shrimp toast. Both were delicious! I love the environment and thought it was a great place to go before a concert.
Pre-concert meal and a great location brought us to Willa Jeans but the food will be bring us back. We ordered off the brunch menu which allowed us to choose from savory to light dishes which was fantastic . Stand outs for us were 1) the monkey bread, you can’t go wrong with dessert at the beginning of the meal, 2) avocado toast which was light and fresh 3) shrimp toast, very rich and savory , and the boudin and collard green biscuit which was everything a good southerner loves. Great food !!!
Food was overly salted. Even the chocolate chip cookies the restaurant is known for were salty. Facility is cute. Was surprised they were serving brunch at 2pm on a Saturday so options were limited. Pimento cheese and crackers were good.
