It was just ok- Nothing bad happened, the wait staff was nice but it came across as kind of a fast food type place that sold fairly fancy food. The food wasn't bad but it wasn't great either. Would I recommend it? I mean, if someone was out of options and needed a quick bite and great food wasn't the priority than yes but not when there are so many other great places in the area. We ate at a place the night before that had a similar vibe and the food was amazing- the menu at Willa Jean suggested gourmet but it wasn't- sorry to be harsh and I rarely write neg reviews but since they emailed me and asked I feel compelled.
The restaurant interior was very stylish and beautiful. Food was fine, but my chicken and rice not worth paying money for and didn’t look very appetizing (even my kids said so). Our server didn’t seem to care about us and we felt rushed. Maybe breakfast/brunch is better but didn’t try.
I went there because a lot of friends recommended the food, but I didn't have a good experience. The food was not as I thought, so my experience was not the best one.
Maybe it was because I went during lunch time, and everyone loves brunch time at Willa Jean.
The server was very nice once he made his way to help us. I enjoyed my meal. It was delicious. My boyfriend however do not. He stated the grits were underwhelming for the price...
Fun and different kind of breakfast place. Biscuits were out of this world.
Seated immediately at 9:30am (had reservation) and waited on professionally by Dallas! She could not have been nicer or more cheerful. 😁. The food was so good. Memorable visit!
I liked Willa Jean so much I went twice during my NOLA business trip -- bkfst and lunch. Both delicious!
We love this spot for breakfast. Food is always great and staff is friendly. They have great cappuccino too.
The food is absolutely outstandingly delicious. Service is a bit slow (as it is mostly in New Orleans), but it doesn't matter once the dishes arrive. We couldn't decide what was the most delicious thing, but the fried chicken drizzled with honey on a biscuit was stellar.
Brunch menu was outstanding. Don't miss out on picking up cookies on your way out from the front counter as well!
It was disappointing to arrive 15 minutes early to a 6:45 reservation in a half empty restaurant and be given the worst table in the house. Thinking maybe maybe there was a high number of reservations still coming I did not say anything however the restaurant was still half empty when we left.
Best cookies we've had in a long time. They were so good that we came back again during our short trip.
We were in New Orleans for only two days and went here twice! I think that says it all...
Best breakfast spot and food was amazing!
Personable staff, incredible food. We couldn’t decide so we ordered extra and everything was so good!
I thought Willa Jean had a great fried chicken and I loved their dessert. Service was very good. The prices are a bit too high in my opinion.
Willa Jean was one of our favorite bistro experiences ever! Nothing left anything to be desired! Every morsel we put in our mouths melted with deliciousness. The cookies in milk was brilliant and has required a second visit for chocolate chip cookie takeaway.
Wondefrful all the way around. Very unique and the food was amazing. Everyone except the guy at the take out register were excited and happy to serve the customers. Great music, just a pleasurable experience. Must have the cookies and vanilla milk.
Great food. Great drinks. Great service.
Contemporary take on New Orleans food. Shrimp and grits were yummy and the corn bread was amazing (best cornbread I've ever had) but the surprise was that the golden beets salad was also fabulous. Oh, and biscuits were terrific, too. Can't go wrong in this place -- food is great and atmosphere open, airy and cheerful!
Willa Jean is always fantastic. Great food, great service, and fun place to eat.
The service was fast and friendly. The atmosphere is hip and fun. But the food? Incredible. Unbelievable. Every single thing we ate was absolutely amazing.
Brunch visit. Tough to get a reservation during NOWFE....remember when we didn’t need one? Artichoke dip never disappoints and neither does the avocado toast. Great waitstaff and a little something sweet to go always a good idea.
If u don’t eat here- ur dumb lack of luck

That’s just stupid.End of review.
Service and food were both impeccable.
I had the avocado toast with poached egg, the pear(idise) cocktail and the olive oil cake. All were delicious. Service was great! I highly recommend this place. Will definitely return on a future visit to NOLA.
Delicious cocktails and pastries, but they inexplicably stop serving breakfast at 10:30. We were there at 10:45 - way too early for lunch, would have loved breakfast. Ended up leaving and going to Josephine Estelle instead.
The food was very good- the biscuits and cornbread were delicious! The cookies were also great! However, we had really terrible service- she was not attentive at all. We waited quite a while for her to come take our order. We had to ask multiple times for our drinks (and one was just a regular cup of coffee!) and eventually another girl brought the pot over. She even had to ask us our drink orders more than once. Our server did not bring out the food, and barely spoke to us. The atmosphere was just ok. I think if I go back, I will just get the cookies and biscuits to go.
This is an excellent restaurant. The BBQ Shrimp on Toast was by far the best entree I ate during my six days in New Orleans, and the cookies and milk dessert, while a little overwhelming, was delicious. Highly recommended!
Amazing food, amazing ambiance. Loved every minute there! Don't skip the cookies and milk!!
Baked goods are fantastic. Try the monkey bread and biscuits. Entrees were beautiful and delicious too.
Hosting guests from out of town. Was wishing that it was normal breakfast and not just brunch menu. Just wanted a biscuit and a couple of scrambled eggs. I don’t think that it was advertised that way on the web.
Excellent crawfish Benedict
Cute little southern kitchen style restaurant and menu with wonderful food!
It was great.
Best. Biscuits. Ever.
Brunch on our trip to NOLA. We had the boudin & collard biscuit and the fried chicken biscuit with cookies for dessert. Definitely can’t go wrong. There’s a reason there are James Beard plaques on the wall!
Everything was fantastic - do NOT miss the cookies and milk!
Service was mediocre at best for a James Beard-nominated restaurant. Our server came by infrequently and was curt when we had to ask for basic things when she did finally make it by. Everything we ordered was delicious, though, which was the sole redemption. It was a special occasion meal nearly soiled by unkind, inattentive service.
I loved Willa Jean. I was dining solo there for brunch. I had the cornbread, kale salad and crawfish Benedict. All were excellent. I will be back.
