Wigmore Hall Restaurant is located on the lower ground floor of one of the world’s great concert halls, specialises in chamber and instrumental music, early music and song. The 50 seater restaurant is also home to a well stocked theatre bar. The frequently changing menu revolves around the best British produce the country has to offer with with our focus being seasonal, local and always fresh. Situated walking distance from Oxford Street and Bond Street Station, our team of friendly waiting staff eagerly await your arrival to make it a memorable evening.

We offer a 2 or 3 course option with a service to fit all needs from those attending a concert to those enjoying some time in the West End.

The food and service were good. The ambience in the restaurant was excellent. However the range of the menu was more limited than it used to be.

The restaurant is rather spartan and not unlike a school dining area. However the staff were friendly and efficient whilst the food was of a good quality.

We were served a Malbec Argentinian red wine (two glasses) at a temperature of 24 or 25 degrees centigrade. Poured in the glass, no questions asked. When we complained to the restaurant manager he replied that the wine refrigerator was not working properly. He did not offer to change the wine as he should.

Service was attentive but not overbearing. Food was good; main course maybe slightly cool by the time it arrived at the table, but still good; pudding and cheeses good too.

I've eaten here before and enjoyed the food, as I did this time. However, the service on this occasion was atrocious. On arrival, the room was ridiculously warm and airless, despite the venue having air conditioning. I ordered the lamb and received the duck. We waited for around twenty minutes for our desert, and were then told that what we had ordered was not available. The waitress offered a free drink by way of apology, which failed to arrive. Coffee ordered for after the meal did not arrive until a few minutes before we had to go. I was told I could return for coffee at the interval, which I did not think would allow me time to drink it then either. The concert was about to start, so I decided to leave payment until the interval. This resulted in the waitress chasing me around the venue, even after I told her we would discuss it in the interval as we were certainly not going to pay a service charge, nor a fee for non-existent coffee. She pursued me up to the door of the auditorium, insisting that even though it was acceptable for me to wait until the interval for my coffee, they couldn't possibly wait until then for payment. I told here this were her problem, not mine, and proceeded to take my seat. My mother had in fact offered to pay for both of us; their assumption that a man should pay for the meal was insulting, sexist and ludicrously outdated. I finally managed to sort out a reduced payment during the interval.

I was horrified — after paying a 15% service charge for my meal to be confronted on the pay terminal as to whether I would like to make a tip. So far as I am concerned the service charge IS the tip. Having said that I’m not happy that Open Table (at the Wigmore Hall in any event) does not accept cash payments. I cannot criticise the service from waiter however, which was very good. However in the light of this evening’s experience I shall not be visiting the restaurant again.
