Great service, ambiance and food... Oh and the cocktail menu!!! We each had a different entree - Lamb (huge portion), scallops and prosciutto, special hamburger (a bit overcooked) and the birdseed salad. All wonderful. Very enjoyable evening, we will be back.
On a lark decided to try this restaurant. Soooo glad we did. Warmly welcomed by the hostess and manager. A very solid wine list... not over the top like some restaurants. Enjoyed a house salad to share for three. Followed by exceptional main courses. We had the salmon, the sea bass, and lamb. Very good proportions. Outstanding preparation, presentation and flavor. And accompanied with sides. Service was spot on. Will definitely be back. Found a new favorite in Dana Point.
Excellent food, service and ambiance. We’ll be back
Fabulous meal and ambiance. The waiter was quite friendly with a good sense of humor. We were not rushed through our meal at all. Everyone had a great time.
Reservation was at 6:30. It wasn’t until after 7 pm that anyone even came to our table. We didn’t have a designated server. It seemed like maybe the manager may have been the one coming to our table? If so, he was completely out of it, talked so low we could barely hear him, and was not attentive to our table at all throughout the evening. There was no one around to even ask for help. Service was unbelievably awful to the point that we would never come back here. But I will say that the food was excellent. At least it had that going for it. We came on a Thursday when it was not busy at all, so I really hope this place has more staff for the busier weekend hours. Otherwise this place is one big yikes.
Food was amazing, very high quality for the price point. Bartender went out of his way to go across the street to Bevmo just to get the ingredients to make me an appletini! Would absolutely recommend and will be going again.
Excellent service. We will be back!
Your staff of hostesses waiters bus boys and chef are very friendly and are truly happy to serve you‼️
They pay attention to detail and the restaurant is very clean.
Our party of four came early, got a nice table outside and had excellent service. We enjoyed our appetizers, main dishes and dessert. Although they ran out of sparkling water, we were able to enjoy everything else. Did they rush us in clearing the table and moving us out - well, yes.
Great menu and the bartender was really good and offered great suggestions for food.
Everything about this place was exceptional: exceptional service, food and atmosphere.
They pay attention to the details! We cannot wait to go back.
The fish and chips are amazing and enough for two meals. They graciously modified my wife's meal to account for her food allergy.
My husband and I decided to try this place again. The first time was pre-pandemic. The food and service was ok. This time the service was slow, but we knew they were short staff and we were in no hurry. However, our server did forgot our order, but he was managing a lot of tables. When we did receive our orders the food was really good. Not sure if we will be back since there are some many choices, but I glad we did try it again.
This is the second time in two months that we have gone there. It seems that there is only one gentleman taking all the orders while there are many servers. The food was fine, not great. I expected more. It took forever to get attention to get our check. Probably will not go back.
Fantastic place! Sat at the bar. Great bartender. Amazing appetizers and entrees. Limited wine list, but good selections.
Fantastic service & food. Highly recommend
This is not the same Whitestone as it once was. The food (and menu) are nothing special. The menu has changed from an upscale restaurant to more “fancy” pub fare. My wife and I visited for Happy Hour. She ordered sangria that was decent and I ordered a mezcal old fashioned (also decent). The food was just okay. Our server was the GM. At first, he was a bit too attentive. At the end, not so much (it was difficult to get a check, and the restaurant maybe had 6 other patrons). After paying, I discovered that the sangria (supposedly on happy hour) was charged full price. GM first argued me that it wasn’t, then offered to redo the check. I said keep the $8.
While he said he would pay for our next three drinks when we come back, I seriously doubt we will.
Great service and atmosphere. Massimo, the gist, was charming and attentive. Highly recommend!
White Stone is a culinary treasure in the middle of Dana Point. We have never had a bad meal here and we love the seasonal changes that keep their menu current and intriguing. This has become our favorite OC restaurant.
We believe Whitestone has the most innovative chef (outside the 5 star hotels) in Dana Point. The food has been excellent the five times we have eaten at Whitestone.
Food was not very good. Filet was dry and veggies burned. Very disappointing for $250!
The manager is funny and kind and gave us lots of time to chat. Sophie always made sure we had lots of water!
Avoid this place. Food was OK but service was terrible. We waited a long time for our server to show up. No menus, no water, nothing. We were about ready to leave when our server showed up. No excuse for this kind of service.
Tasty spinach salad. Good wine list. Succulent duck and moist scallops. Excellent service. Dana Point’s best kept dining secret ! Nothing in/near the harbor that comes close.
My wife and I had a great evening that white stone. SERVICE is friendly, and the manager on duty, Massimo he is as always an excellent host and reason enough to come back. They revised the menu with some excellent choices. We will return.
Restaurant was elegant and on point. The dish I ordered was unexpectedly different from what I thought it was going to be, I guess a little creative license on a tried and true favorite, while I would have preferred the traditional version more than the dish I got it was interesting and flavorful. The service was outstanding. I would recommend and would return.
Whitestone is consistently excellent! Food is always high quality with impressive presentations. I’m not one of those who takes pictures of their dining experiences to then share on social media, but if I was, this would be the place!!!
First time eating here, excellent selection of appetizers and entrees. We sat in a 4 person booth which was perfect for catching up with friends
My meal and my friends meal wasn’t good.
Great local spot.
Understaffed, so we waited an unusually long time for our order to be taken, for a server to appear at all, for the check, and everything in between.
When we did see then, service was warm and welcoming.
Food was mostly very good. Tuna crudo appetizer was the only miss… fish was tough and chewy.
Another great meal at our new favorite local restaurant. Sat outside and enjoyed the evening. Food was excellent. Had the scallops for dinner and the cheese plate for appetizer. Yummy! Trevor was our waiter, and just as attentive and professional as last time. We will be back!
Very attentive. Helped celebrate my close friend's Birthday.
We had a really good night. Thank you for being apart of the celebrations and making her feel special.
We were looking for a place we could meet our friends. They were coming from Laguna and we were driving from North County San Diego. We found this wonderful gem in Dana Point and loved it! Everyone raved about their entrees - lobster ravioli, lamb ragu pasta, carbonara, and the evening special pasta which included tips of filet and lovely spring veggies. We will definitely return!
Excellent service. Glad to have found this incredible restaurant in Dana Point. Excellent drinks. Salmon was perfectly cooked. Will return.
Food here is much better than the service, which is slow and inattentive. We never knew exactly who are waiter was, and getting the services' attention was like pulling teeth. We ordered cocktails, but we had to remind the waiter to bring them to us AFTER our starters were served. Cocktails should always come prior.
That being said, some of our food was delicious ( a Northern Italian pasta dish), but the scallop dish was a letdown. Dessert was good. Not good enough to endure the poor service here for a repeat though.
This is our second time back since the newest team took over. If you haven't been since the new team took over you owe yourself a visit. Everything is better. Great food, wine list, bartender.
Their homemade pasta is outstanding. This time I repeated the caeser salad, we shared the yellowtail crudo and I had the duck paired with a pinot. It was cooked to perfection!
Food and cocktails were interesting and delightful; service was great too.
Had the Caesar salad followed by the lamb ragu…food was delicious. Our server, Austin, was attentive and kind. Atmosphere is great. A little expensive overall but we’d go back.
Limited menu at high prices. Service was fair... Took 10 minutes to get a glass of water.
